Bandai-Namco Elden Ring

Question for ya’ll. I’ve been trying like crazy to get the (altered) Banished Knight armor. Everyone online just recommends killing the knight at the dragon cathedral over and over again until he drops it. Well, I’ve dried that, and the A-hole just keeps dropping the same junk! I’ve gotten the greaves twice and the shield twice but I can’t get the chest plate or the helmet. I tried going back to Stormveil and killing one of the knights there and he dropped the gauntlets but the chest piece still alludes me.

I’ve heard that some items drops only happen if you kill enemies in a certain way. Anyone know if that’s the case here? Does it matter HOW I kill these guys?

Its a random drop but extremely rare.

The rampart tower grace is probably your best option to try and farm for it.

Thanks; yeah that’s the other one I tried. Guess I just need to grind away at it for an hour or so lol.

Good luck.

If you have the silver scarab talisman, equip it and pop a silver fowl-foot. That increases droprates by around 50%.

Good idea! Yeah I think I still have one of those fowl feet.

So I’ve been slowly progressing through this game and now I’m on Castle Sol. I’m at like level 170 and random enemies can still one shot me, lol. It was lovely to learn that those annoying knights with the damn near impenetrable shields can TELEPORT in this castle. It’s like FromSoftware was just sitting around brainstorming about ways to make those guys even more of a pain in the ***.

Still, this game is amazing. As frustrating as it is, it definitely feels rewarding when you beat some massive enemy (even if you’ve applied every available cheese strategy like I have haha). I just found out about one where you can safely shoot Commander Niall with arrows without even entering the boss arena. Definitely going to try that!

Castle Sol was a surprise to me too. Had to keep coming back to it after leveling up a couple of times. I still remember thinking nothing of trying to snipe an Oleg Knight from a high vantage point only for him to teleport right beside me.

I still wasn't at a level I could comfortably handle the knights by the time I finished the castle, but I did figure I could lure the knights away to teleport somewhere out of the way so I could run around them. Though there are some areas you can lead them to where you can snipe them that's outside their range to warp to you.

Yeah I eventually got through it, maybe by pure luck because there was at least one knight I was able to snipe at from a rooftop and he didn’t teleport up to me like he did the previous time I tried that. They also can’t pursue you out the front gate so if all else fails, just run like hell out of the castle and then shoot at them while they stand in the doorway.

Speaking of cheeses, I did manage to kill Niall without ever entering the boss arena. It’s a little tricky because you have to jump up on a ledge and if you fall off, you die. But if you don’t, you can get a clear shot at him and he can’t hit you.

How high is your Vigor? At lvl 170 you shouldn't be getting 1 shotted by randos unless you have really low vigor or maybe you have a debuff/item that makes you weaker?

I may have exaggerated a bit when I said “one shot.” It’s more like 3-4 but with my HP at like 1600, you’d think it would take a lot more. I think the biggest problem in this game is that so much of the armor just SUCKS and the worthwhile stuff is insanely hard to find. I’ve been going back and forth between Lionel’s armor and the veteran’s armor and they are decent but most of the other stuff I’ve used has been crap.

Well, I finally did it. Took me about 260 total hours and I had to level up to 225, but I beat Elden Ring. I took out all the shardbearers (Malenia and Mohg were just as terrifying as I figured but I got them) and the Elden Beast was a real SOB but I eventually got him after wayyyy too many deaths lol. Only things I skipped were a couple of the Hero’s Grave dungeons because they were just annoying as hell.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that even if you aren’t particularly good at these Soulsbourne style games, you CAN beat them if you take the time.

Bring it on. I want to see the Lands Between in live action. Granted, Sony has a bad track record, but… The Last of Us looks awesome. If we can get that kinda talent behind an Elden Ring series? I’m all for it.

I want more fantasy TV and definitely up for this if they can get a good team together.

Agreed. If they do, then the only question will be whether they should try to retell the story of the game or if they should do something supplemental that features characters like Malenia, Radahn, etc. but is a whole new story. Either could work, and I was leaning towards a supplemental sort of story… but looking at how awesome The Last of Us looks, maybe it could work if they just try to tell the game story. There is something very cool about seeing the things you’ve played through in a video game presented in live action, as long as it’s done well.

As always, the main thing for me is that they do whatever they choose to do well. But if I had my choice with these things I’d want the core game story done well first, and then move on to numerous supplemental stories from there.

When should we expect Elden Ring DLC?

Not soon enough, if you ask me haha But I wouldn't be surprised to get a DLC reveal at the Game Awards.
Haha. Oh yes, good point. Feels like a fair chance of that.

How much does From Software crunch?

Those employees can expect, according to data on Career Connection, an average yearly salary of ¥3.41 million (equivalent to just shy of $25,000) – significantly less than the ¥5.2 million ($38,000) employees at the comparably sized Atlus take home. (It's worth noting that conversions throughout this article have been made using current exchange rates, though the Japanese yen has fallen significantly against the dollar in the past two years.)

Compared to the cost of living in Tokyo, one source said From Software's "salary is not adequate." They went on to say that others close to them at the studio "did not appear satisfied with their salaries either."

For OT, it's 0.5x past midnight...
How is this overtime compensated? According to one source, overtime is "generally included in the salary." After midnight, however, "we were paid late-night overtime but that was half of our usual hourly rate."

One source claims the crunch is like beating a boss in DS.
One suggested the long hours are a bit like playing Dark Souls. "It's kind of tense in a way," they say. "There's a lot of struggle to get things right, but if you get over the hump it is very satisfying. It's just like you defeated a boss in Dark Souls."

I thought overtime was supposed to be a better rate than normal. That’s terrible. It’s a shame that video game development at this level doesn’t seem to be well paid, have good conditions or have good job security.

I am shocked, shocked that a studio which aggressively pushes toxic ideas of "Git Gud", would also have an abusive culture towards its employees.

Well, not that shocked. *ahem*
