Looks crazy-good!

I love Oblivion but was never a fan of the graphics. Graphics here look so much better. This game is right near the top of my anticipated list now.

You mean the on-topic conversation argued against my opinion, objectivly answered and backed up whenever possible? As opposed to this nonesense?

No, I mean the guy who sounds like a broken record ranting about how Bethesda sucks. If you have nothing else to add to the thread, move along. We're not here to discuss Bethesda's past games. We're here to discuss Skyrim. At this point you're just trolling so discuss the game without trying to incite fights or bait people or just move along.

Good job Matt.

You brought it on yourself. You can't troll a thread and bait for fights and then complain when someone takes the bait.

That said, Pat, Socool, please do not engage in name calling or flaming in the future. If you feel that someone is trolling the thread or baiting, just report it to me and it shall be dealt with.

So far I have only mentioned Bethesda's presentation sucks.
Other than that, the only comment mentioned was "the textures and models don't look that great". Read: Not "bad" but "that great" Which from a technical standpoint, has more or less been proven as factually based. Basically from what I can gather, you don't like my opinion. And from past expereince, me. That's fine, I don't care, as long as you don't let any personal petty motive get in the way of objectivity.

I didn't think it was that impressive. It's fairly easy to see pixelated textures, low res cast shadows and low polygon models.

From the looks of the footage it probably wont be taking advantage DX10/11, which is dissapointing. At least the music score is good, I guess.

Shut it, troll. You're just saying this **** just to rile people up. Go away.

Is provoking him further really necessary?

Anyway, sexy Dwemer ruin at 1:46. :hrt:

Well, looks like the website's down for some reason. Fortunately, here's the youtube version they posted:

:wow::wow::wow:

If dragons are random encounters, they're going to make Red Dead Redemption's cougars look like sewer rats.

Don't. I told him to. If he continues, hit the report button.

Do you see the huge improvement from Oblivion though?

That trailer was amazing....

All that remains is for my first character, do I go with a Conan the Cimmerian inspired character or a Sparrowhawk from Chronicles of Earthsea......Well clearly Conan. :D

The shadows density at the beginning of the video was pretty much instantly noticeable as was the improved draw distance. However, it wasn't a Halflife>Halflife 2 type leap. I think once more seeps out or a couple of months after release when the hype dies down, people will become abit more grounded about it. It's same with alot of games, big reveal, best thing ever. Doom 3 is a prime example of this.

From the bits of actual gameplay we could see it looks pretty similiar to Oblivion which is a bit of a downer since I found that whole system kind of clumsy. Oblivion was really about exploring this huge and beautiful world than anything else really.

On that note Skyrim thus far visually looks damned good and the soundtrack sounded really thunderous and epic so regardless, its likely that I'm going devour the hell out of this game and not emerge from my den for the week of release, so there's that.

But thats boring.

Wow, the trailer was amazing. I didnt think anything would be able to top Redemptions environments, thats just crazy good. Its going to be a looooong wait until November.

I'm also really interested in seeing how they handle the dialogue system this time around, Fallout 3 was a major step in the right direction and its something I hope they continue to explore in Skyrim.

Isn't GDC coming up? I expect we'll start to see some gameplay vids around then.

Gotya.

Technical issues aside, I am a bit of a graphics enthusiast (****e :yay:). Without dissecting the individual graphical qualities/numbers/pixels on display, my eyes instinctively (& to an extent unexpectedly) tell me that I love all the new screenshots/video & that the jump from Oblivion is the difference between being very impressed and almost turned off.

I think that's what a lot of people like about it.

On a side note, after seeing that trailer I had a massive fantasy craving so I downloaded the Dragon Age 2 demo........ So disappointed. How can there be such a massive difference in quality between Dragon Age and Mass Effect?!?

Agreed. I wasnt impressed my the DA2 demo at all. There were some neat things, but i wasnt really a fan. Still might check out the full game tho.

I read that not all characters will have full dialogue streams anymore, just the more relevant ones. Some of the conversations could do with being spiced up a bit!

Yeah, I dunno Pat. The combat and gameplay seemed very meat and potatoes, which I wouldn't mind if it was as engaging as Mass Effect but the voice acting was really bad and the dialogue just wasn't interesting. I think Skyrim may be my only chance for a good fantasy game.

Well if it means that the characters that do have conversation paths are going to be more in-depth then I'm all for it.

Quality over Quantity and all that jazz!

Yea, Skyrim is going be on a whole 'nother level. I generally dont care too much for the fantasy type games as it is, but i loved Oblivion and Skyrim looks to be out of this world.

It's a shame though because a mass effect style fantasy game SHOULD be on another level too.

Also, with the Skyrim conversations, they said it would basically just be the fallout convo style, where most NPC's just have standard greetings rather than repeated conversation trees, like the awful rumour option in Oblivion. "YES, I HEARD ABOUT THE HERO OF KVATCH AND HOW HE SAVED THE DAY, HE'S ME, I'M HE AHHHHH, I KILL YOU NOW!"

Have they mentioned much about the bounty system, btw? That was the most ridiculous thing ever in Oblivion. You steal an apple in one city and a guard on the other side of the country can tell you've got it on sight. Not only that, but he'll leave his post outside the city castle to swim across a lake in full armour to claim it back.
