Daredevil Elodie Yung IS Elektra!

I thought she was adopted by a Greek family but if she is originally from there then I'm glad they're sticking to it.
oh

Well, she's part of a Greek family, who she probably grew up with in Greece before travelling around which would make it okay to refer to her as being Greek. I really don't get the issue here.

I don't get the issue either, unless you're trying to create one. Hence me saying I'm glad they stuck with it.

I didn't, you are the one who brought up the "Greek" line and asked why they changed her to French. Not saying that's an issue but it can be taken as one as some people got rather angry about the casting. As for me, I loved Elodie and have been singing her praise.

Yes, and that was resolved several posts ago. You are the one who's still egging it on.

I wasn't angry about her casting, never even said anything of the sort; I was just wondering at first why they didn't preserve the character's Greek heritage but then let that go when I realized the character was still Greek.

I'm sure you can go back 13 years ago and find posts from me on why Garner was miscast as Elektra.

And I believe Garner is a gorgeous beautiful and sexy woman. However, at the risk of sounding like a misogynist, there is just a certain type for Elektra that Garner didn't really fit. They cast her because she was sort of the IT girl at the time and capitalizing on her Alias popularity. IMHO, it was a mistake for that character. Then again the movie got a lot wrong.

If all that didn't have happened we may never be where we are today and have this outstanding Daredevil show.

Elodie Yung just sort of fits that foreign, exotic and dark type that Elektra should exude.

...which i would love to hear, as i actually liked the Daredevil movie more than the general critics. In fact i still very much wish the movie's version of radar-sense were put into the power of Netflix Matt Murdock. :cwink:

The movie's problems are well documented.

I'm a little late to the party, but I loved Yung as Elektra. The number of liberties taken with the character were interesting, but I think the core components remained.

I hope we see more of Elektra in the future. And that they retain her "final" costume (or potentially inverse the black / red colours or otherwise only slightly tweak it).

I'm late to the party too but yeah, Elodie is perfect as Elektra and I'm dying to see more of her (maybe no pun intended :D).

This is blatantly obvious by now but Elodie Yung >>>> Jennifer Garner in every way imaginable.

Jenninfer Garner is great, but she was always miscast as Elektra.

She was the it-girl actress at the time and that got her the role. Elektra is meant to be this exotic, foreign olive skinned woman. She has to have that foreign allure. I'm not saying Garner is ugly. It's just about a certain type. And yes, sometimes with these characters IMHO it's important on the actors evoking this certain type and style.

The point is, Elektra is NOT the girl next door. She's not the lady you take home to meet your parents. She's that smoldering and dangerous femme fatale that gets you into worlds of trouble.

I agree with every word, brother. I didn't mean what I said as a knock against Garner, either. And you perfectly summed up what I meant with my previous post.

Elodie just evokes all of the traits Elektra should have. By comparison, not only did Garner's Elektra lack that exotic look but her interpretation was far more tame than what the character should be.

I know it also has a lot to do with the writing, but Elodie's has that unpredictable edge that Elektra should always have.

Elodie Yung really has the vibe Elektra should have on screen. She exudes confidence and strength.

Despite the writers for season 2 going down the "Man Without Fear" path (writing her as a sociopath), if she was written to be more like her other comic appearances, I could definitely still see Elodie playing the Elektra from Elektra: Assassin miniseries and Elektra Lives Again all the way till her latest series.

Wait, so is Elektra supposed to eventually get her own series?

(I'm far behind on news, I know. :D)

Sorry about that.... I was talking about her own comic series (the one that was by Blackman and Del Mundo) though she'll be getting a new one in February with a new suit that looks more like the Netflix one. It'd be interesting/great for her to get her own Netflix series, though I don't think it will. If you can't tell, I'm a huge fan of the character and would love to see her in her own spotlight.

No need to apologize, was my error. But thanks for that, I'll be sure to check out those comics. I need more insight on the character. I won't lie, there's much for me to learn about Elektra's overall mythology.

And I agree but you never know. I wouldn't have ever thought Luke Cage would get his own series, or Jessica Jones but here we are. I'd say the possibilities are endless & Elektra could very well get her own.

She has everything she needs to excel in her own series. I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed for that one.

Glad we can agree on that. It'd be really fun to go into a political assassination thriller after The Defenders, though that depends on [BLACKOUT]whether or not she survives the miniseries. [/BLACKOUT]

She is a sociopath. After she got killed and resurrected by the Hand (more recently), she passed it off as being "undercover" for SHIELD and Nick Fury. But Wolverine points out how she killed dozens of SHIELD agents. Elektra just smiles and responds, "Really deep undercover."

Not to mention her insanely bizarre relationship with The Punisher. Which was sort of like two blood-thirsty psychopaths having a fling with each other.

Right on. I took it in no way as a knock. Just expanding on your points I agree with.
