Guillermo del Toro's Beauty and the Beast has landed at Warner Bros. and, according to an update at Variety, del Toro is now planning to direct as well as produce with Andrew Davies (The Three Musketeers, Bridget Jones's Diary) providing the screenplay. They've also confirmed ComingSoon.net's earlier report that Emma Watson (the Harry Potter films) is likely to headline.
Del Toro's next film, Pacific Rim is now in production with a cast that includes Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi, Max Martini, Willem Dafoe, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins Jr., Diego Klattenhoff and Ron Perlman.
Details on the Beauty and the Beast project are still currently few, but del Toro will provide a treatment that Davies will work from and this version of the story will be a period piece.
Disney loves those trailer retellings. Could have added some of the actual singing to mix it up. Guess that will be the last trailer.Looks ok I guess. But I've felt that way about Cinderella and The Jungle Book's trailers too and ended up loving those, so I might love this too. I know it'll make a killing at the box office either way, though.
No question!I know it'll make a killing at the box office either way, though.
I think you are probably right, but we are talking about the Star Wars equivalent of an adaptation. This and the Lion King. So if it happens, I wouldn't be shocked. Especially as BvS itself left plenty of money on the table.I know this will be one of the big films next year, but really... usurp Batman v. Superman's $166 million opening? I see it having a really good multiple, though.
None of Disney's live-action fairy tale openings eclipsed Alice in Wonderland's astonishing $116 million opening. A $150 million opening is the ceiling.
