Empire's Top 500 Films

I'll add my top ten list as well!

1) The Dark Knight
2) Goodfellas
3) Raging Bull
4) Casino
5) Batman Begins
6) Memento
7) American History X
8) American Pshyco
9) The Shawshank Redemption
10) Heat

anyone happy to see x2 on the list? so glad people appreciate it. very good and underrated by the general public. cool, intellegent sci-fi action movie.

Obviously it's not under-rated. Seeing as how it made the list & the only reason X3 made as much as it did was because of X2.

Any ideas on the mystery cover (which is quite a needle in a haystack) with 400 movies left in the list. I kinda think its a James Bond cover since the only James Bond cover thus far doesnt have the man on it.

Yes i was quite surprised that Casino Royal didnt get a cover.......

Who said what is the point of this? Too have fun! To make more lists. To continue making more lists. And to be a part of making lists.

Stop by and say hi!!!

Superman Returns and Crystal Skull are really surprising no matter how long the list is. I loved Crystal Skull too, but Im sure I can think of 500 better movies.

But as I remember it Cyrstal Skull and Superman Returns did pretty well overseas and Empire being a British mag I guess makes sense. Unfortunately, the Lara Croft movies did well over there too so Im sure they have a spot on this list (damn that sucks)

I'm surprised that Spider-Man 2 is so low on the list.

Wow...that list is REALLY bad. A lot of those movies sucked ass...its worse than Imdb's top 250 :o

I think in the end, AFI's top 100 is the best...although I don't agree with there rankings every film I've seen from AFI's top 100 are actually good films that I really really enjoyed

Despite the fact the list is voted for by Empire readers (i.e. 18-24 mainly British males), of which I am one, and people will always vote for the last great thing they remember (Dark Knight? Best movie ever!)....I'll still be annoyed if Straw Dogs isn't there.

Great to see V for Vendetta in there-!

It seems as if all the major comicbook movies will be listed

I'm surprised BMR was higher than BM.

Though, I like BMR more. I thought people liked BM more.

Do people really like Into the Wild? Its about a guy who lives in a bus to get away from a privelaged life to realize that life is better with friends and family. I would think thats a no brainer.

Well, that's Empire readers for you. :o

Universally, Batman has always been regarded as better than Batman Returns.

well, there are other elements to the voting other than Empire readers and probably other elements on WHY these movies are included (i havent read the blurbs yet). Although I cant really think of any reason why the hollywood workers or film critics would say BMR over BM but then again I do think aesthetically it was a more pleasing movie than Batman

Cloverfield, Bugsy Malone, and Sunshine?? And if Army of Darkness is on here, that must mean Evil Dead 1 & 2 are higher.

And as much as I love the movie, I didn't expect Serenity to make it.

Glad Titanic is so low on the list. I hate Titanic but I know you cant do a list like this without it.

Midnight Run  surprising entry

all around a way better crop of flicks i think from the previous 100

The Dark Knight is actually going to be the top ten or something.

But then what do you expect from a magazine who listed Buffy the Vampire Slayer as the second greatest tv show ever.
