Episode 06: "Better Halves" discussion thread

"Japanese people, Verry lucky." LOL LOL LOL

(sigh).... Who's glasses was cheerleaders dad holding??

I knew that girl helping seresh was trouble from day 1.

She is the Nina Myers of Heroes.

Weak episode. We were all over the place, Hiro and Ando's gambling scenes were redundant, Peter didn't see Simone in this episode about Isaac's paintings which could have given tension to a pretty dull hour, no Matt, no Nathan, the Mohinder scenes are feeling a bit off and the Claire meeting her fake biological parents was too slow and drawn-out.

The Nikki and DL story is interesting enough on its own, but when we've got world destruction looming, its frustrating to see everything put on hold for this.

The fake birthparents idea was visiblefrom a mile away.

After the build up from last weeks episode I expected more here. It was dissappointing that they didn't carry the momentum onwards. Oh well, next week can't come sooner.

Obviously because the "bad" Nikki is in control of when she wants to come out. If you were about to die but you could flip to your alter ego, you would.

Not to mention thats what Isaac's whole thing about smudging the painting to reveal the Tattoo.

I'm pretty sure that's not how disasociative identity disorder works at all.

no, not a little harsh... not at all

any headway into the series that was made (see amazing fantasy's post) could have easily been done in 5 minutes. the rest was all fluff.

Fine. But that doesn't mean you should stop watching TV all together just because of one average episode.

the vision trick? i could do that with my digital camera and windows media maker.

But it was cool.

Yeah, I thought this episode was a big ol' bowl of M'eh. Hiro's personal crisis was resolved very quickly, Nathan wasn't even IN the episode...

But hey, I was right about short-haired girl! Totally working for the other side!

And we also get an indication that Mr Bennett is NOT so completely evil as we've been led to think. He was sweet the whole episode, and while that might be a show, his reaction to the message "Save the Cheerleader" REALLY pointed out that he cares for Claire. Awww.....

Um, I didn't like DL. He acted like an ass the entire episode. I mean, he has unbelievable phasing powers, so presumably he knows powers exist, but he won't believe his wife when she tells him she has powers? Thanks a bunch, you big fat hypocrite - and now you've gone and squished her pancreas while her son watched!

Mohinder, this episode, was also an ass. I'm not quite sure when he completely, utterly lost his faith to the point where he's nearly always sarcastic and bitter. Dude, CHILL.

Also, no Matt. He's been in the least episodes so far, and his story was left on a cliffhanger! WTF?

what I didn't like about this episode:

-it was slower than most of the others
-where tha fook were Nathan, Matt and Pete?

what I liked about this episode:

-we finally get to see interaction between the two Nikkis (in 9th wonders, there's word that her other half's name is Jessica... we'll see about that)
-Mr Bennett is slowly showing to be either an excellently written character or the guy is an amazing actor, we know the guy cares for his family, we also know that he's fascinated with these people, and like any parent is willing to do whatever it takes for his family
-which is what I loved about DL, the guy didn't "kill" Nikki and took Micah just becuase, he felt this evil woman to be a real threat and hauled ass with his son, whom he loves a lot... well, he's his father, duh!
-little peppered implements about Hiro's character were dropped here and there
-I don't know if you got it, but NIKKI IS ONE OF THE VILLIANS
-Eden is a mole, no surprise, but it was cool to see that scene

and that's something which I actually noticed, there were some things that I had already figured out, and they went with them, but it was surprising nonethelss to see them actually happen

and now some unrelated observations:

-noticed how the second episode, which aired in october gave us a five week time frame? notice how in four weeks only a couple of days have happened? methinks the big explosion will be the season's ender
-URULU WAS MENTIONED IN THE SHOW!!!!! yes, I know just a as a reference to the comic book, but it was mentioned, which brings me to the next observation...
-it seems that the 9th wonders comic was at first a non serialized horror type of comic, like the old EC comics from the 50's, but it seems that there was a point in time, I'd say, when Issac started getting his "future highs", perhaps, in which Issac starts making this story arc about some stuff, and maybe he doesn't get to finish his comic's storyarc, cuz he got lobotomized and killed and stuff... but the nod to the classics was great, still
- anybody else thinks Eden has powers too? I am willing to bet my PRS on that

one more thing I noticed, it seems that Claire is starting to become more and more tolerant to pain

I dont see Niki as a villian yet. I think she just cant control her powers. Its like every hero has that moment when they decide to use their powers for good or for evil and her moment hasnt come yet.

The whole thing with her and DL was a little strange. As AnimeJune said, he knows powers exist and yet he cant believe Niki when she says that she cant control her powers. I dont balme him for defending himself because she was kicking his ass but did he not notice that one minute she was freaking out...the next she was cool and collected and very scary. Then "killing" your wife right in front of your son. Hmmm... not really the best way to go.

But I guess we'll see what happens in the coming weeks.

he didn't kill her, he just knocked her out (well, he had already knocked her up before) and he was just trying to protect his son from this ubberstrong spychobeotch of a wife he has

and I just loved the "nothing honey, daddy and I are just moving the furniture" that was wicked

I know he didnt really kill her...he was more pissed that her alter ego did some really underhanded stuff to him. Plus he's now emotionally scarred the boy by doing what he did to the mama right in front of him.

DL, Micah, Hiro and Ando meet, Nathan flies, and there was this guy who looked a lot like Mohinder with a different haircut

"one more thing I noticed, it seems that Claire is starting to become more and more tolerant to pain"

I so totally noticed that too

claire, wear baking gloves sweetie.... the oven is hot

I've always felt the writing on this show was a little thin, so when we get an episode that slows down and is dialogue-driven, it dragged like a mother. Borderline brutal.

Same here, but i wouldn't be surprised if they take a Franklin Richards/Jack Jack approach in making him the most powerful member.

That's exactly what I think. I think that Micah has the power of manifestation or mental projection. Eventually, I think Micah will create that Uluru character from the comics he reads and cause a whole lot of trouble. He'll be to the heroes what Proteus was to the X-Men; an emotionally damaged kid with more power than anyone can deal with.

I also didn't like the slower pace this episode, but we did get a lot more information about characters and a cool superpower showdown at the end, so it's forgivable. But what's with people dissin' DL? He had to put Nikki down, she was killing him. And let's not forget that he hasn't done anything wrong, it was evil Nikki that set him up. If anything, she got what was coming to her. I think DL has great potential to be one of the standout characters.

Good lord, did you need to post that 20 times?

ANyone got a link for next weeks preview yet?

Holly jumping ***** balls i have heard of a double post but jeez...lol

Anyway did anyone notice that DL didnt grab the money when he grabbed Micha and ran out. I thought this is was intresting cause it showed he really didnt care about the money that much as we were led to beileve when he first shows up.

That was creepy as hell. And that girl, I didn't expect her to be evil. Hmm.

Same here. Everyone else is "oh I saw it coming", but I fell for her sweet next door neighbor ruse.:csad:

Anyone else bummed when those cupcakes got tossed? Mrs. Bennett, she probably wasn't serious!
