Episode 11. 'Monsters' review thread.

This episode reminded me of Blade in Blade II. He was a lot looser than he was in the first film, and had something of a sense of humor. I saw a lot of that in this episode with Sticky crackin' a smile here and there, and even a joke. I too loved the "Can you hear me, now?" line, as it was followed by Blade jamming two stakes in Charlotte's bodyguard's ears!!

I also loved that he took off his shades to watch Charlotte die. One of the things I hated in Blade Trinity, Blade has his sunglasses on practically the ENTIRE MOVIE!! Sticky at least has a scowl down, and every now and then you get to see him emote. Not too much, but just enough to let you know Blade's not a total *******.

Now that we know from that new interview thread that Michael Jai White was rejected by Goyer because he was too much of a martial artist and played the role "too much like Snipes," Sticky's Blade will always seem like a mistake no matter what he does. Sad.

...My god is that a dumb reason...In fact...That has to be the stupidest reason for not casting someone that I have ever heard...

...I want to spit on Goyer's shoes now.

Plus we also got to see a tad more of Marcus's secretary, Sabine, last night.

I was watching HBO's old series OZ on, On Demand, yesterday, and guess who was in a couple of episodes? Shen! He looked exactly the same too!

The look Lurch gave Charlotte, when he was fighting Blade,as she fled, looked really sympathic. Like they know they would never see each other again. I guess they were really close. I love the whole bait move they pulled to lure in the teacher. Lurch lay on the ground, as Charlotte lay in wait to strike, clinging to the wall.

I loved the whole episode. I hated to see Collins die, though. You would think that after going to such great lengths to find this vampire expert he would at least listen to him.
Oh-and did Charlotte REALLY think that Blade could be bought? Did she think that hadn't been tried?

Yeah, Collins basically suffers throughout the whole episode due to his own stupidity. And he seemed so smart during the previous *10 FREAKING EPISODES* of build-up, too.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if that's how all the major plotlines on this show go? Like, next week, you could have Blade accidentally ash Marcus in the first five minutes, just to prove that all the build-up with him was irrelevant. :p

As for Charlotte, eh. She was cornered and desperate and it's not like she had any chance of taking him down in a kung-fu fight. :)

Yeah, pureblood or not, you've still got the body of a twelve year-old. There's only so much you're gonna be able to do.

Goyer's an idiot. Mind you, I've come to accept Sticky in the role, as I see the effort he's putting into it. But knowing Goyer rejecting casting White for two qualities fans would have LOVED to see in a TV Blade, just makes me hate him even more. He must really think very highly of himself not to realize how much Snipes contributed to the films.

I thought the look they exchanged was that of disbelief...Lurch probably thought she was gonna help him...together they could have taken Blade out...but instead she bailed...but I see it the other way too.

I actually saw it totally different than either of you. I saw it as a little grin from "Lurch" because he knew what Charlotte was planning to take Collins out of the picture.

By the way, I do love how they called him "Lurch." Funny stuff, I imagine some younger viewers didn't get it.

I still wanna know if Marcus's secretary, Sabine, is a Vamp or a familiar.

Chase's Ex-Husband still didn't say anything about finding the serum..

Next week it looks like Chase and co discover the Daywalkers lair, so if there is a next season he won't be in the same hide-out.

How do you think they found out where Blade's hideout is? Through Krista (them following her or she came out and told Marcus), Or from Chase torturing Shen like we see in the preview..?.

I say from following Krista. I find it hard to believe that they didn't know all along that she was a double agent. I mean she's always gone-for days at a time. I'm sure Marcus was smart enough to have her followed. I say that Shen is captured when Chase and her hit team raid the hideout and not before.

I didn't see any evidence that they hit his hideout?

Yeah, it looks like the ex-husband finding the shattered serum sample is one of many threads that will be left dangling - like Boone's continued survival, for example.

I think "guaranteed" survivors of the finale at this point are -

- Blade (duh)
- Marcus (reasons said earlier in the thread)
- Shen (too much dangling backstory left to resolve, though I suppose they could try to do so really fast)

I have a bad feeling Chase is doomed, but I really want to see Krista get ashed. That would rule.

Shen can't die. Too many gadgetheads have died from Whistler(TWICE!), Scud(granted, he turned out to be a familiar and deserved it), to Hedges, as superfluous as he may have been in the grand scheme of things. And I think it'd be too soon after the death of potential ally, Agent Collins. Killing Shen would be overkill (no pun intended). If anyone has to die, Krista's looking like a likely candidate. The arc of her character is really reaching its end, as while Jill Wagner is a fine piece of drool-inducing eye candy, I won't miss her character if she's killed off. Her whole family's dead, and mind you, I don't think she's ever called Blade out on putting her brother in such a dangerous position in the first place, she's clearly starting to sympathize with Marcus, and Chase is ready to tear her a new one. She'll either kill Krista, or they'll kill each other.

I really think the third option is the most likely one - Krista will kill Chase.

Why? Because this show is OBSESSED with Krista, and Chase has so much potential to develop as a villian that they've never bothered to realize.

I got a feeling that chase will die next episode.. Krista won't though, she will takes chase's spot completely and be Marcus's number one girl....

chase though, before she dies, will destroy Blades hideout, causing Blade and Shen (if he lives) to take refuge somewhere else... this will be the plot of season 2... enter the doctor from blade 1 and possibly Hannibal, and maybe even Drake... new enemies, wherewolves and other baddies..... while Blade is gone, Marcus and his crew take on the vampire pure bloods....

heres what I hope happens...action, action and more action...they've talked all season long so now lets see it! But, I hope they end it on a very "world's been done turned upside down" note...they leave off with someone major being ashed...Shen still being held captive, and their hideout/headquarters blown to bits...Season two starts off with a major action packed opening of Blade saving Shen.
that would be awesome...oh well, I'm not the one in showbiz so I have no say in it.

I wouldn't be begging for a cliffhanger if I were you, since there's a good chance the show won't get another season anyway...

They can't tie up all the loose ends; we need a reason to come back next season.

Personally, I'm a firm believer in "no cliffhangers for TV shows." I know that Blade will get a cliffhanger, but I prefer shows that tie up their loose ends at the end of a season. Like when Buffy season one ended? Nothing was left to do. All the problems were resolved, until the next season came around. Same with most of the seasons of that show, in fact. The only real exceptions being the years when they already knew they were picked up for the next year - then they would leave a few little ends here and there, like "What will make Buffy come back to town now that she's left?" or something. But the main storylines would be resolved.

What keeps you coming back for the next season then, you ask? Uh, how about the fact that the show is good and you want to see more? QUALITY keeps you coming back in instances such as these. Not cliffhanger gimmicks. Another example is Justice League Unlimited. They had season-long arcs, but the storylines ended when the seasons did. What keeps you coming back? The fact that the show is good, of course! You don't need some stupid trick to trap you into returning and feeling annoyed about your lack of information all summer long.

Cliffhangers just piss me off.

well, if they release the Uncut unrated extended super ultimate edition DVD of season 1...and the sales go well for it...maybe, just maybe, we'll get a second shot at this...they'll get a second shot at it.

It doesn't even have to be a cliffhanger; let's just say, Marcus succeeds in wiping out the Purebloods, Blade kills Marcus, & Chase gets away. That's not necessarily a cliffhanger but a loose end that can be addressed later. Like Boone. We still don't know what became of him.

Another possibility is that the necklace that Marcus gave her has a tracking device hidden inside. Think about it, Krista disapears for a couple of days, Marcus gets suspicous and gives her this "gift" that's just a way for him to find her should this happen again. Just a thought.

I hate cliffhangers! especally when the show doesn't get picked up for another season Like The Cliffhangers for Dark Angel and Fastlane.

give us some kind of closeure if there won't be season 2 damnit!

jesus thatwas an awesome show! then again i've missed quite a few of them so maybe i was just going through withdrawl. yea i was, throughout the entire episode saying "collins, u ***** u better not die, then when collins went after charlotte i was really hoping he wasnt gonna die, or at least die in vain, i wanted him to ash charlotte before dieing, but oh well im not complaining
