Episode 11. 'Monsters' review thread.

Another great episode. Im glad Blade is getting more screen-time. Blade's character is slowly becoming a lot better developed. (ie: cracking jokes, as he did in Blade II)

I liked how Collins used the "uv light grenade" against the vamps in the school, as this weapon was introduced in Blade II.

Since this is the SEASON finale (not series finale) next week, do we presume that there is a good chance for season 2?

^

We were told there was only a 50/50 chance a week or so back. We can't presume that there will be a season two, only that they haven't yet decided.

The episode started off horribly. The first ten minutes or so it trundled along pathetically, but thankfully it picked up some steam as it went by. Still, it never really reached the heights previous episodes had.

One thing annoyed me. Why were Marcus, Blade, and everyone else so sure Charlotte had died during the explosion aboard the plane. Her and the bodyguard didn't even look that injured, and no explanation was offered as to how the survived so easily when everyone thought a death was certain.

Next weeks episode looks like a great one. Hopefully it'll make up for this one.

I didn't see any evidence that they hit his hideout?

Yeah, it was in the preview for next week. Chase was shooting up Blades hideout. As as far as Chase goes, i think that they'll leave it at a point where everyone presumes she's dead but we won't actually see it. IMO she's a pretty unique character. We know little about her life before she became a vamp, or even how old she is. I say she'll be in season 2 if there is one.

I love her to death! She'd wipe the walls with Blade:Trinity's Danica Talos.

Oh, i forgot to say. I don't understand why Collins used 2 UV Grenades on those vamps when one would have suffice. He could have easily saved the other one and use it on Charlotte, to see if she really was a little girl or a PB.

Nobody answered my question before:

Do you think Sabine, Marcus's secretary, is a Vamp or a familiar?

Familiar in love with Marcus, wanting to be turned and live happily ever after together.

thats what i wondered also.

Great episode last night. The series is in a groove it would be nice to see a second season. The season finale is looking solid. My favorite parts of this week's episode was the love triangle (Krista, Marcus, Chase) and Blade's interaction with Collins. I hate they killed off his character so soon. It would have been nice to keep him around. He could have lent a hand every couple of episodes. I didn't realize Charlotte and Lurch could be such a deadly combination. The sympathetic look from Lurch at the end of the episode was priceless...haha.

Another possibility is that the necklace that Marcus gave her has a tracking device hidden inside. Think about it, Krista disapears for a couple of days, Marcus gets suspicous and gives her this "gift" that's just a way for him to find her should this happen again. Just a thought.

Totally plausible. He did, through Chase, give Charlotte a trick gift, so why wouldn't he do it to Krista as well?

I hate cliffhangers! especally when the show doesn't get picked up for another season Like The Cliffhangers for Dark Angel and Fastlane.

give us some kind of closeure if there won't be season 2 damnit!

Fastlane. Man, I loved that show. Love it so much I have a bootleg season set because Fox will never put it on DVD. And the cliffhanger they left it on was just bogus. Hopefully Blade won't do us that dirty.

It annoyed me too, but for a different reason. I felt like it took all the sting out of Ethan's machinations. It was like 'what was the point of setting up that scheme in the plot, if it didn't even work?' I thought with Collins there, Blade would recover some info that Collins with help him decipher and Blade would learn the Conclave is much bigger than he originally realized. Instead, Collins ended up being a waste of time, as did the double cross.

.

I remember Fastlane that was a good show. I enjoyed it years ago. I've caught a few episodes on cable but I can't remember what channel it was on. I hope Blade doesn't end this season on a cliffhanger. I just don't see any reasons why Spike wouldn't renew it for second season. The network needs some shows to separate itself from the other crap channels. The Ultimate Fighter and UFC can only take you so far...

I'm thinking vamp. They don't tend to keep their familiars so close. One major point of having them is to keep a tie to the human world. Can't do that if they're around you all the time.

You know... to date, we've never once seen a successful familiar. All of them are useless tools who get their asses killed before reaching vampire status. ALL.

Scud succeeded. Got Blade that far anyway.

There are $2 million reasons per episode. UFC and TNA may only go so far, but they're much cheaper than Blade.

I would love for Blade to say "Some mutha-****ers are are always trying to ice skate up hill" right before he takes out Marcus next week, just like he did in Blade 1!

What ever happened to the vaccine t make them immune to silver and sunlight like Fritz? It's seems like they're more focused on destroying the purebloods now. Wouldn't it be cool next week if Blade realises that Marcus and Chase have taken the vaccine, so they can't be killed like a regular vamp?

And i still think Marcus knows Krista is Blade's informant. He killed her brother for the same reason. He's not stupid.

Yeah. Goyer is either doing something really smart or he really did just forget a lot of plot points...

Didn't they say the vaccine would eventually burn out the vamps from the inside out?

I saw the vaccine as a mass for what Marcus was really making, the anti-Pureblood thingy

I think you mean "mask." But yes, exactly. It was a cover.

marcus is going through all the trouble to make this virus that kills pure bloods when when pure bloods die exactly the same way as any other vampire...why bother?

way not just cut off all their heads and save on money perfecting the vaccine.

There's an issue of efficiency, and combat. Remember the fight with Marcus and Dammek? Marcus almost got killed himself.

Why do military forces use biological warfare instead of just projectile weapons? Less risk to the user and very efficient.

Yeah, I mean, imagine if one got away and then warned all the other houses and all the purebloods mobilized to take him down and... well basically, YEAH.
