Episode 16 - "Unexpected" - Discussion Thread 2/19/07

What is Sylar doing with the brains? I know he steals the powers, but the brains are missing. He is not just reading/examining them. My only conclusion so far is he is consuming them.

 I don't know why I bother sometimes...

NooB!
he steals them for nis collection dude...duh!

Well at Primeatech they said he'd been using foreign DNA to alter his own.

Have the brains actually gone missing every time (as far as we know)?

far as we know I believe so

I also suspect, as some of you do, that his main motivation for killing his victims isn't just to gain their power but to make sure that ultimately he is the only one in existence who has powers/is special. Once he's done with his quest for all the powers that exist(if it can be completed), you have to wonder what would happen then. I suspect it would be "kneel before Zod" time for the rest of the world.:woot:

he's a psychopath. what more explanation do you need?

he's a SMART psychopath
and that's what makes him the perfect villain

But he was able to heal himself with Claire's powers, even though she never used them in front of him and he didn't know she could even do that, right?
By proximity he can't (or couldn't) control it. Like when he was close to Claude, he didn't realize that Claude had the power of invisibility - he was just near him and disappeared. When he is "out of range" of the person's power he sponges, he can only bring it back by thinking of that person. If he didn't know that person had a power, how would he know to think of them?

He said as much when Claude threw him off the roof. Claude asked him what he did to use the power of invincibility and he says he thought of "the cheerleader in Texas."

When he is in the vicinity of people, he does it automatically. I dont even think he realized he was invisible when he was with Claude. To use his powers without being near someone he has to remember them or feel the emotional trigger that they made him feel which be the only way to explain the telekinesis since he didnt remember Sylar had that power right away.
Thank you.

because he knew that he leeches abilities from proximity
so if he leeched healing while Claire was around, then obviously Peter rationalized that Claire had that ability

Remember that episode when Hindi Guy and Eden broke into Skylar's home and found a lot of brains inside jars? No, he does not eat 'em. At least not raw. Raw brains have an unpleasant taste.

doesn't mean he's not eating part of them:o

you know, you once tried to steal your sisters powers didn't you? :ninja:

But it must be activated on a deeper level than that. Peter didn't consciously think of Sylar when he stopped Claude's attack with his mind... yet he certainly used Sylar's telekinesis to do it.

MMM
in case u missed the continuation...

I would love to hear the source of that little tidbit...

so wait your saying he didn't cause a localized time distortion to change the present resulting in a life being saved because he altered events?

that's the point i made earlier (maybe not in this thread though...)

But his emotions may have been the same which allowed him to tap into the power. When he confronted Sylar, lockers were coming at him....with Claude it was a stick coming at him.

I'm not sure Peter has to remember exactly how he felt about a person every time, I think that just allows him to get a handle on the powers. Once he knows the power and understands it, he can use it at will. I mean you you think when he confronted Isaac he was thinking/feeling all those people.

Peter knew Claire's ability. she either told him in Homecoming or when she visited him in the clink. actually, it may have been Peter who asked if she's a healer. anyway...they had a conversation about it.
