Escape from New York (Remake) - Part 1

I think if they were going to do it Jason Clarke (Lawless, Zero Dark Thirty, upcoming Dawn of the PLanet of the Apes) would be a better choice. He's intimidating, he's a rising star, and he's badass

Clarke would be such a great ****ing choice.

Clarke is a very inspired choice!

Otherwise go Josh Brolin.

If I have to chose between Hardy and Statham, I gotta back Statham, the guy is stuck in a rut and doing a big budget sci-fi film will be different for him, not to mention he and Joel Silver are a match made in action movie valhalla. Besides John Carpenter wanted Stath as Plissken's side kick when Ghosts of Mars was meant to be Escape from Mars.

I've never even thought the original was that great, to be honest. And the sequel was utter garbage. I hope Tom Hardy has the good sense to stay the hell away from this. He's too good for this crap.

Yeah, I just feel like, from Joel Silver's comments about this reboot, talking about origins and trilogies, that it seems like a project of desperation and irrelevancy. At least, from Joel Silver's part.

Heh, I always figured this would have been remade by now. I'm fine with it being remade though.

If it starts with a prequel, I guess will be a good thing

yes I want this remade with a bigger budget this could be really good.i don't want hardy because he is already mad max too similar.i don't want statham either doesn't fit to me I like butler first choice.other names colin Farrell or josh hollaway who would own it but not a big enough name.

Wouldn't think of him if I was

He'll tuck you in at night and telling you bedtime stories about his experiences on the set of 'Drive' and 'Blue Valentine'.

You'll whisper "Thank you, Ryan. For everything".

Drive is the reason I suggested him

Gerard Butler could pull this off.

His internal struggle will be escaping from New York while maintaining an American accent. Even in 'Olympus' and 'The Ugly Truth' his Scottish accent was waiting to burst out!

It was but I thought he did cover it well in '300'...although I know it was not an American accent at all.

I'm really just pulling for the guy. He's made questionable decisions with Ugly Truth and Machine Gun Preacher (IMO). He just needs that one movie to get him to superstardom...granted THIS might not be that movie but I think it would cater to him and his action star talents.

Gerald's career has always been like that; uneven till he gets lucky with a particular role. But he's never had a 'winning streak'.

true he has yet to put together a streak and some of his choices I don't get.but I like him as a action hero this could be his franchise role
