Escape from New York (Remake)

If you "HAD" to recast Plisskin...do you like the choice of Gerard Butler???

  • Yes I like him...not sure if he's my top choice but...I like it! :)

  • No he's not right for the role at all. :(

  • Not bad but...I'm not sure yet...need to give it more time.

I'm sick of all these comments like "This sucks" and "that blows". Exactly what sucks and what blows? You know nothing of this film yet. No details have been released and no director is attached and you know of no other stars attached. Before you start bashing a film wouldn't it make sense to actually have some information in your brain about how they're handling it.

Nobody can criticsize the film because no real details have been released and yet you can be all super positive and gush....when no real details have been released.

Before you start praising a film wouldn't it make sense to actually have some information in your brain about how they're handling it?

How completely and utterly predictable. Yes Mr. Moritz, please remove every single shred of mystery about Snake and oh yeah, make sure you put him in a really fast car with flames on the sides and have him meet up with Vin Diesel at some point.
...:whatever:

Weren't you just criticsizing it

With a bit more backstory the audience will feel more of Snake's emotions throughout the film.

that's the thing about Snake though. his biggest character trait is that he doesn't give a flying f**k about anything. my worry is that as an audience we know too much about his past, specifically the incident with his wife, we'll end up feeling sorry for him rather than thinking "damn, what a bad motherf**ker".

Then your not a geek/nerd/loser/comic fan/fanboy/looney toon..

Excellent!

Sounds like a ****ing great movie

He does give a f**K that Brain screwed him over. If you remember. He also does give a f**k about his life and about getting even with those who screwed him.

That's right. I'm postive because the original was so great. There's hope that they can update it to a awesome 2009 film/story and we'll see more adventures and action w/Plisskin. I'm excited about that as are other people. There is NOTHING to be negative about unless you're Kurt Russell. Every bit of info I've seen so far is positive starting with the fact it's being done, we're getting a back story (by the way nobody said every shred of mystery is being uncovered). The great thing about EFNY had nothing to do with us not knowing Snakes background. Gerard's casting is positive to me, 300 doing great at the box office is positive for R rated films, etc...Nothing negative whatsoever. Now if they were remaking The Last Action Hero I might wonder why...however it wouldn't get me angry to the point of whining.

It's just ridiculous that anyone complains about any movie before it's released. If you don't want to watch it...don't buy the ticket. If you liked the original so much...go watch it again. Why are any of you protective over a movie that you had NOTHING to do with. The fact that you watched it doesn't give you ownership rights. Kurt has every right to be upset as he as a personal investment and attachment to the character. I'd be pissed to. However I'm not him and neither is Gerard Butler, nor are you. How many times do people need to say how this remake sucks or is stupid on this thread? Or that it shouldn't be made? That's selfish. Just because YOU or someone else doesn't want to watch it...there are a million people that will watch and and be inline. I also can guarantee the 99% of the complainers will be in line the first weekend to watch it.

Now if later on we find out it's gonna be PG-13, it's more action than suspense, it's more humor that it should be like the crappy sequel, if they hire a bad director, if they change the core elements of the film and character....THEN be pissed. Still though...you don't have to buy the ticket.

Moritz never said ANYTHING about revealing every bit of detail about Snakes past. Where are some of you getting this from? Also the ridiculous comments about Vin Diesel and a car w/flames. At least have something to back up your argument. Nobody has released any details on this film whatsoever to make complaints like that.

Guarantees are meaningless.

The only movie I've seen on opening weekend was Episode 1. It was a painful lesson that I refuse to repeat, and I regret ever seeing it.

Say if This remake does well, they might do another and skip LA and just go for escape from earth :D that would be cool

Look at the track record of Moritz and tell me with a straight face you're still confident in what he can do with this movie. If you are then I have some swamp land in Texas you might be interested in.

He's not writing it and he's directing it either. However he did produce Saving Silverman which is pure gold. :) Also I wouldn't be surprised if they got Vin Diesel to play Duke.

Don't even joke about things like that. That's just horrible.

I honestly want to know what the meetings for movies like this sound like.

Terrence Howard would make a great Duke

Any one think Malcom Mcdowell should just be the next Donald Pleasence and play the presedent

What like physically take over Pleasence as a person and manifest himself into all the roles?

Sounds like a great idea
