Escape from New York (Remake)

If you "HAD" to recast Plisskin...do you like the choice of Gerard Butler???

  • Yes I like him...not sure if he's my top choice but...I like it! :)

  • No he's not right for the role at all. :(

  • Not bad but...I'm not sure yet...need to give it more time.

Personally, as long as they don't copy Russell, keep the eye patch and still make him a doesn't give a **** kind of anti-hero I'll be happy. I'll always have the original to go back to if the remake sucks balls.

Oh yeah, a Mod should change the Thread name since Butler is out.

Yeah change it to Escape from New York (Remake), and close the poll.

Do we all at least agree this is an R rated film.

I think your just asking for trouble if you cast some one as Kurt Russel and not snake...while Russel is synonyms, he can be separated from the character for a different good interpretation

I could actually see Diesel doing Snake Plisskin but it'd be a totally different look of course. He's got the attitude you're looking for.
Im a fan of Vin Diesel but Riddick escapes from NY just keeps coming to mind.

Yes, I will be very dissapointed if it's PG-13. This kind of film needs to be R. I really enjoyed Live Free or Die Hard even for a PG-13 version but Hollywood needs to stop watering down franchises that are for mature audiences.

I guess I just want to see a pitch black sequel that follows the game "Escape from Butcher Bay" so bad and we know that's not happening so oh well. Or perhaps a team up. LOL

I enjoyed Die Hard 4 too but it was too toned down. I wouldn't mind if they released the film that way but had an R Rated DVD. Or had a PG-13 version and an R rated version in theatres.

I wouldnt really knock Diesel for this role if only he showed a bit more range with his characters. Personnaly though I like the thought of snake being smaller in frame and more agile.

I'd be fine with a PG-13 if in turn they are willing to drop 150 and make an action spectacle

What the hell has Diesel been up to anyways???

I don't know why he did that lame family/kids film The Pacifier. Just like a lot of actors/actresses who do those kind of roles, their career goes down the drain.

I think he is writing directing and staring in a movie called babylon a.d. out in march

I don't know if I even wanna cast for attitude...just do what Nolan did for Joker...Heath Ledger??? who thought he would be a good Joker....but its all about how the actor, and director think he can play it best

DiCaprio yes, Damon has a square head and would look terrible with long hair, For me Josh is still the man for the job.

Even as a bad guy in Departed Damon still seemed good, I cant see him as being selfish and gritty, the borne type character suits him really well action wise.

Initially I want to say no to Dicaprio, but I also thought he was going to be horrible in blood diamond and after watching it I realized I was terribly wrong so I think it would be interesting. But Like hunter said Holloway is first choice.

At this point with some of these choices, I say they should try and find an unknown for the part.

I've been reading a few other forums and one suggests Christian Bale, and another Ewan McGregor. Ewan? I don't see it. Christian...is he too dark of a personality???

He's got Babylon AD, Rockfish(animated) Fast & Furious reteaming w/Paul Walker perhaps titled with a "4", and Hannibal.

Steve Zahn maybe if you want to go completely different. LOL

Though I honestly like the idea of Wahlberg.

Yeah, Wahlberg wouldn't be that bad. I don't think he's ever really taken a role quite like this before too. I think the only time i've ever seen him play someone bad was in that movie Fear.

He was good in Four Brothers, and Shooter was one of my fav's from last year.

Christian is a chameleon he is one of the few actors that I think could do almost any role.
