Evan Almighty discussion thread

I am personally looking forward to Evan Almighty. Too many people are writing it off too soon. Steve Carrell is always funny, no way around that. Plus, it would've been very easy for them to take the route of a Bruce Almighty, exact plot sequel (Evan gets God's powers)...instead, they are taking another biblical story (Noah's Arc) and working with that. I think it will produce great results and can't wait to see it.

I thought the original idea was that Evan's life and career was in the gutter because of what Bruce had done to him on air, and then God comes down to give his his task? I liked the idea quite a bit.

The plot for this movie is completely ******ed and I'm guessing that the people writing it completely missed the point of Bruce Almighty. The only reason they'd make a sequel dedicated to such a backburner character as Evan is because the 40 Year Old Virgin made 100 million, and now they're looking to cash in.

I think this is a really bad idea. Bruce was definately funny, and Steve Carrell has become such a sought after star now, that i dont know why he would chose this. He should continue making movies for himself (just like 40 year old virgin)

I hear that Lauren Graham, the hot mom of Gilmore Girls, will be in Evan Almighty. I might go see it just to see her - especially if she takes her clothes off, because being almost 40 she's still hotter than 99% of all the 20 something waifs in Hollywood right now (and you know it!).
