And that hero is? You can tell me, I don't mind. You can wrap it in black and put spoiler quotes around it twice.
[BLACKOUT]Mia is the real hero, despite her getting possessed[/BLACKOUT]

You people are tempting me!!! :argh:

I want to be surprised, but I lack much self control... :csad:

[And I like the change of what the Evil is that chases people through the woods

Also some friends wanted to go to the theater called Cinema Cafe ( where you can eat dinner while watching the movie) to see this Friday night. I am like are you guys serious? From what I heard about this movie, you DO NOT want to be eating any kind of food while watching this movie. I would rather us see it in a regular theater like AMC etc. LOL I think any place that is serving dinner while watching this crazy! But props to anyone that could stomach doing that!

2 people I was supposed to be going to see it with have dropped out.

Screw it, ill go by myself lol

So what exactly is the extent of the [BLACKOUT]Ash cameo. How exactly does he show up?[/BLACKOUT]

It's a minute after the name credits. He's in this dark area, standing away from the camera. He then slowly turns round once the camera stops zooming, says groovy and smiles

Hm interesting.
I was wondering if they would have him actually happen on the Cabin or not. I'm interested to see how these worlds may combine if they do carry out the plan for a seven film series.

The cabin gets[BLACKOUT]torched by Mia[/BLACKOUT]
It's cryptic. It's not just Bruce Campbell, he's in full costume and makeup as Ash. The area he's in looks to be loutside and misty, pitch black sky. I think his cameo Iis meant to just establish that Ash is present in the movies continuity and not just acting as fan service

No one vomited in your theatre?

So this isn't a remake but instead sort of a sequel?

It can work as one. Its basically its own thing though, just using the basic "young people in a cabin, just add demons."

The movie definitely states it's part of the same universe. I know it sounds odd but still :funny:

It's not even retconning or telling you to ignore the original movie.

But according to Raimi and Tapert, they consider ED2 the real beginning of things. Which means you can get a remake out of the original.

But homages are made. And since the movie seems to take place at a later date, you can assume some other people came to the cabin and rebuilt it after ED2.

What I can't explain is
How the book returned and why we hear Knowby just before Ash is seen

the movie is gory but not terrifying as the poster says it to be

Yeah the tone isn't really there for it to be "terrifying."

There were a few visceral moments where I really felt the actions on screen though.

As I explained in my full review a few pages back, the sounds in the film are crazy effective at selling the stabbings and scrapings on screen.

I saw this the other day and some quick spoiler-free thoughts:

-It is very, very entertaining. I laughed, cringed and had more fun in the theater than anything I saw in March.

-Jane Levy may be a star. My only "nitpick" (meaning inconsequential) is I wish we saw more of her deadite self which is a hilarious creation. They did cut the song from the trailer in the movie to my disappointment.

-There will be blood.

-My only real complaint is that I think it could have been more madcap. There is an ice running joke involving duct tape in the film (I will say no more) and the gore at times is excessively funny but...it did not have the surrealist OTT zaniness I was hoping for. In part, it is because the deadites are kind of quiet. I wonder if it was a studio decision as we see in the trailer Levy talk a lot more than she does in the final film. There was even barely any "force" shots in the film.

-Stay for after the credits.

Just some quick thoughts.

It would have been better, IMO, if it had been:

[blackout]Ash strolling by the cabin and finding the book that Mia left behind and going "D'oh! I knew I was forgetting something about. Sorry guys, my bad." And then walks off with it.[/blackout]

It would have made more ****ing sense :funny:

Is it more horror or more Raimi horror (darkly funny)?
There Is comedy, not much. But it's very subtle. Some people will laugh, while others will think
"That's not funny"

But that was how the original gained some comedy value. It wasn't in your face obvious as the sequels. It was just by laughing at it's sick and over the top violent ways. More than that tthough to it. lol

The humor is more situational than slapstick.

And yeah as someone else pointed out, now that I think of it, the deadites were quite quiet, which is weird.

Cool. Yeah, I'm usually one of the guys watching Raimi's films that people look at and ask "what's so funny?" So, that's great.
