And that's all in his opinion. ..

At least he liked Jane :D

I may go see this. I shunned it as soon as I found out Diablo Cody was penning a remake but it sounds like someone came to their senses before filming began.

Actually the other way around., My friend read the script prior to her re-write and said it was pretty bad. Sounds like she helped this project a bit.

If I had a car, I would go to one of the 10pm screenings. Alas, I do not, and have to wait until Saturday. Grr.

For people that have seen it, how gross is the movie? Are there a lot of gross out scenes? Two of the chicks going with my friends have weak stomachs, so we kinda want to give them a heads up about this movie. I heard some people were throwing up during some screenings of this.

Has anyone else wondered why a 10pm showing instead of a midnight showing? This happened with GI Joe too. My local theaters are having having 10pm showings of Jurassic Park 3D too instead of the usual midnight release. Just curious is all...

I noticed it too. Ever since the Dark Knight Rising shootings more theaters have been doing 10pm showings. Though some places still do the midnight showings.

They're sure to be squeemish, epecially due to the sound.

Nothing like the sound a rusty chainsaw cutting through flesh bone and sinew lol

I'm thinking about dressing up as Ash for tonight's premiere, but I'm not sure a whole lot of people will "get it." Then again, if your going to the late night premiere of an evil dead film, I'm sure somebody will recognize me.

They'll probably think you're Shiloh Fernandez's character at first, what with the blue shirt....but by the end, they'll know different ;)

Well the people I was gonna see it with this weekend back out saying they are gonna see it next week. So I am going to a 10pm showing tonight and go see Jurassic Park 3D Saturday night. I am hoping the crowd will be great for this!

What's worse?
The rape scene in this or the original?

I say this...cause Jane's top don't rip and reveal the goods lol

The original tree rape is brutal but its supposed to be. It is still problematic though in a number of ways.

The tree rape in the new film is intended as a call back and certainly receives a rousing response from fans.

In the first film it is shocking. In the new film it is expected.

In the remake it is pay off for fan expectations and reputation.

Rape as gratification.

The indictment of the audience in Cabin in the Woods is more relevant here than anything that has to with cabins in the woods.

It seems to me they're trying to justify and expand on the tree rape as to say, everything that sexually happens, gets you possessed. Like they have at least a good reason to include it. Because sex is what spreads it? Bit of a twist of the rules in Scream isn't it? :funny:

A solid editorial about the weird recontextualization of tree rape in the remake. http://badassdigest.com/2013/04/04/evil-dead-2013-and-the-politics-of-tree-rape/

We as a culture glorify warfare, viloence in general, and sex. When it comes to film I just role with it. It isn't real. Yes I know rape happens, but murder happens as well. So when someone goes to see a slasher film and then the film does something like the rape scene I just roll my eyes when people freak out or try to crusade against it. You are at a film about kids cutting themselves and each other up, but shrubbery raping someone is too far? Do they not see the hypocrisy?

Yes we wonder how people who have been raped feel. I feel for their pain and ordeal and the injustice done to them but what about soldiers who come home from war and see it glorified on tv and film. What about people who have been in the hands of a psycho and barely escaped with their life? Point is everyone has been through some **** and something in every film will bother someone. No need to get on a soap box.

And the "YEAH" guy was probably just some dude saying **** political correctness or some narrow minded burst.

I'm so ready for this! Attending the midnight show even though I have early work tomorrow morning.

My theater still has the 12:00 but also has the 10:00 as an "early" screening.
