He tried to convince the Avengers that, with proper guidance, Hope Summers would harness the power of the Phoenix to do only good, and more importantly, to save the mutant race from extinction. The Avengers, however, felt that, because of the threat the nigh-omnipotent Phoenix force posed to all living things, Hope Summers had to be contained before she could become its next vessel. As a result, the X-Men and Avengers went to war, very bad things ensued, and Hope eventually managed to set things right in the end, simultaneously reigniting the mutant population with dissipated Phoenix energy.

In short, proponents of the theory that "Cyclops was right" suggest that, had the Avengers not interfered, none of the bad events would have occurred; and Hope would have fulfilled her destiny without incident.

I've always wondered about some of the posters avatars and where they got them from. Any back-story would be great. Some of them are interesting and creative.

Mine's pretty simple, Humbero Ramos' rendition of Roderick Kingsley Hobgoblin from Big Time. I've liked it so much I haven't changed it.

Anybody else......? Hopefully this thread goes on for a while since people change theirs a lot.
