Extant - Coming to CBS Summer 2014

It does really feel like they tried to cram as many near future sci fi plots as they could into one show (I am surprised genetic engineering didn't come up). But I actually didn't dislike it.

The evil Japanese corporation with the ridiculously Japanese CEO reminded me of something from the eighties (when people thought they would take over the world economically).

I will be watching the next episode.

He is the same kid.

Oh wow. I figured it wasn't the same kid because I would've thought that the kip from Looper aged a bit. But it doesn't seem like it. He even looked younger here. :funny:

I think it was interesting having the Sanada's vestibule with all that ancient stuff... how old is he, y'know?

I love kids on non-kid shows, especially creepy kids. Agreed on the ageist comment a page back.

The kid was fine until the Ice Cream scene & her husband is an idiot & the Helix Samurai is up 2 something

Started out strong and interesting. I hope it keeps going that way.

I'm sure aliens will be involved somehow.

The choice of using the song "Are you Ready For the Sex Girls" was pretty random. Reminds me of Revenge of the Nerds

Saw the first episode and I really liked it. The eerie tone really helps it.

That scientist lady might as well have a sign around her neck saying "Halle I want to steal your family!" she is so obvious. It's fun seeing Control from POI as a less butch and mean person.

The central mystery of what exactly they encountered up there is intriguing, there's a nice oldschool conspiracy thriller vibe to the show. The comment at the end about Sparks daughter is the first time she's been mentioned, I wonder if she was an Astronaut scientist as well.

I'm really enjoying this, it's a nice mix of oldschool Spielberg and Hitchcock.

That's Meryl Streep's daughter! :hehe:

I hadn't realized that was her daughter. But thinking about it I see the resemblance.

Not much posts about this show.
AFAIC, I'm still watching, the plots progress nicely.

I'm still watching as well. I love it. The technology is great and really believable to something that we would advance to.

Really glad we are gaining momentum on the whole alien baby.

Praying this gets another season or that they wrapped everything up nicely if it doesnt.

What are the rating in the States, any idea ?
I have the felling it will not get a second season.

I think it's bombing terribly after starting strong, I keep seeing that CBS is trying to get rid of it fast.

It's averaging 5mill viewers now. It isn't HORRIBLE for a summer series but CBS has ridiculous standards.

Big Brother is averaging around 6 million but that is a lot cheaper to produce.

Under The Dome is averaging about 7mill for it's 2nd season.

But it is always in the Top 15 for social media views......

I think that TV shows with movie stars in them must perform very well to be renewed.
Halle Berry must not be cheap.

If they want to renew the series they could always negotiate a paycut for her if they wanted.

Ive just got that feeling that it won't make it past this summer... and was I seeing things or is Halle Berry the executive producer as well?

Double episode this week, Molly has gone from playing it slow and stealthy to going full steam ahead, I wonder if that is because there is unlikely be a second season. There was a lot in the two eps as everything progressed quite rapidly for all the main players.

I had a feeling Odin was not to be trusted but his anti-machines group seems a little late to the party if the show only has two eps left.

It will be interesting to see what the alien looks like.
