After breaking news that the 2017 WONDER WOMAN tentpole movie starring Gal Gadot is being planned as the first of a trilogy that'll span nearly a century, Bleeding Cool now has provided exclusive details about Warner Bos' plans for another pivotal member of their ambitious superhero ensemble: The Fastest Man Alive himself.
>According to sources who have read the studio-approved draft, THE FLASH will make considerable changes to the source material, as the entire aspect of police forensics has been axed. In the script, the lead character, BARRY ALLEN, is presented as a brilliant young astrophysicist working for S.T.A.R. Labs on a project the unravel the secrets of the "Speed Force", the so-called "conective tissue of the Universe". This Barry is much more intense than Grant Gustin's sunny portrayal, veering into mad scientist territory at times. His voice of reason is IRIS WEST, his love interest and a investigate reporter with a strong sense of justice and drive to expose the corruption that reaches the highest echelons of Central City.
>Iris' brother, engineer DANIEL WEST, is Barry's best friend and polar opposite, and both of them are mentored by Dr. JAY GARRICK, a veteran scientist who dedicated his life to the mysteries of the Speed Force. The test run of the machine designed by Barry to study the phenomenon, however, fails due to the intervention of corporate spy LEONARD SNART, a professional criminal sent to sabotage the program. The resulting explosion connects Barry to the Speed Force, turning him into, literally, the Fastest Man Alive. Barry is now able to run at super-human speeds and perceive time differently from other people, and this is how the origin unfolds, structured in interlocking flashbacks presented in "Flash-Vision".
>Snart, as expected, is affected by the explosion as well, gaining the super-human power to steal the momentum of things, "freezing" them solid. As he embarks on a crime spree, Barry adopts the identity of the Flash to stop him, blaming Snart's rampage on his failure, while Iris investigates Snart's employer, who might just be a key-player in another tentpole DC movie, if you can guess who's wealthy enough to afford his own spy.
>Although Snart is the antagonist for most of the movie, he is not the only one, as a far more sinister presence lurks in the shadows, a being that feeds off of speed to survive, and sets his eyes on the Flash. If you're familiar with the Flash lore, particularly his New 52 incarnation, it won't be too hard to guess who it is...
>Although this is a early draft, still subjected to change, it paints a nice idea in which direction the scarlet speedster will be running to in his cinematic debut, in which he'll be played by "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" and "We Need to Talk About Kevin" star Ezra Miller.
