Fallout 4

I just hope they make the next one slightly easier. Just so that if you get trapped in a dungeon and you loose all your ammo you're not completely screwed. Even if it just gave you a chance to escape like the escape rope in Pokemon

Easier? Most would say it's not hard enough. Save before you go in and try not to waste your ammo. :o

In my experience, the game wasn't that difficult. However, they REALLY need to tell you to save all the time and have multiple save files. I definitely played for awhile without making a separate save and my auto save kept spawning me into one hit deaths. Had to start over.

My experiences with RPGs have led me to having a constant state of three saves at any time in addition to the auto save. That's why I get annoyed at some games if they only have auto saves. Sometimes I like to save at a certain favorite part and replay it at a later date and that denys that to me.

In many games like Fallout or ES, you should have at least two manual saves at any time. I've found in one of them, NV I think, the auto save would freeze my game or something so I had to turn it off.

Ahhhh, Here's to hoping Fallout 4 is announced on the 11th!

That's just common knowledge with RPG's.

I had never really played one. I was even quick to figure out that it would be good to have based on the choices I made, but not necessarily infinite death :)

I made a save right after the Dead Money DLC finished in New Vegas. I like the DLC but it is a pain to go through and collect everything in order to make the 'infinite free stuff' machine have all the goodies. I usually just load up from there to start a new game.

Exactly. That said... i remember during one of my earlier playthrough, i stumbled upon a railroad track in the middle of nowhere...decided to follow it, and before long got into a fight with a handfull raiders.

Took care the first four or five of them with no problem, so decided to continue following the tracks....all the way into the trainyard. That's when all hell broke loose:oldrazz:

About fifty Raiders...and a freakin' Mutant behemoth! and me with only an assault rifle, a shotgun and a handdfull fo grenades...

What followed was a mother of all gunfights...and my first introduction to this interesting place called the Evergreen mills:woot:

You have to love it when the raiders run into the pen of the super mutant for safety.

For your first mod, on your first playthrough.... i would try something small first. just so you'll know how to download and install mods.

Maybe a companion mod just to start things off.

I'd also study the fallout 3 folders structure on your pc, so when something goes haywire ( which would inevitably happened with mods) you'll know what to do...where to find the mods on your folders and delete them ( without help from NMM)

and another thing...most of the mods on FO3 PREDATES the NMM...so that means that some of the best mods on that site, you'll have to install them manually and later activate them through NMM, so it may not be a bad idea to get to know your FO3 folders ( data, meshes etc)
Thanks. What's NMM btw?

Just a heads up Iceman. Go to the junkyard in the East and get Dogmeat. He's awesome if you have Broken Steel installed.

LOL yeah...

But even funnier when I ran inside the building for safety from the Behemoth and because i ran out of ammo....thinking it would be safe inside:oldrazz:

NEXUS MODS MANAGER. It's a tool to make it easier for you to download and install mods from the nexus sites. Just one click and it's all done! mods downloaded and installed:cwink:

Oh and if you're going that way anyway...see if you can find the place PARADISE FALLS. There's a cool potential company there.

Thanks for all these.

Regarding manual saves and the frequency of such, I am a crazy saver. I guess it started in Oblivion, but if I'm playing a game that has the option to save whenever I want, you can bet your butt I will be making multiple saves all the time. Have a conversation? Save. Get in a minor scuffle? Save. Walk a certain distance without anything even a little bit eventful happening? Save.

I am never more paranoid than when playing a video game.

So, do you guys think that Fallout 4 will be able to match Skyrim's succes?

I think I had about 800 saves on Skyrim and I still need to get that one glitched achievment and replay Dragonborn. And how did Fallout 3 & New Vegas do on sales? Is it slightly more of a grim & grey setting than Skyrim which might lose a few casuals? I hope it's huge. Will certainly be popular amongst regular gamers.

Which one glitched? The daedric artifacts?

I'd love to see FO4 beat Skyrim and NV. Speaking of NV I heard they wanted to do a NV2. Any word on that?

My general feeling is the Elder Scrolls series will always sell better than the Fallout series, simply because there's a larger market for the dungeons and dragons fantasy genre. That said, I don't have any hard statistics to back that up -just my immediate impression.

800? What system did you play on and how much space did that take up?? How did you even keep track of all that and why not delete?

Stalhrim Quest. I've played the whole of Dragonborn twice now and it glitched again even though I followed all the warnings and advice.

That's what I think. Post apocalyptic is just not going to be as pretty as a fantasy world to a big chunk of the casual audience.

Actually I just checked and that was wrong. It's about 450 manual saves and they're on average 7-8MB each (highest 10MB). If we use 8 then 400 x 8 = 3.2GB! Nice one, you just found me some much needed hard drive space (as soon as I beat that last glitched quest). Oh & this was on 360. As to why, well when I played Skyrim I completely zoned out and didn't do anything else apart from that and work for about 2 months lol. No real pause to stop, think and actually assess what the hell I was doing!

ETA: Wait, I just remember I have a load of saves on a USB too. 1.5GB worth, bloody hell! (these ones are bigger, like 14MB each and the most recent is my actual playthrough). I've always treated saves as so tiny that they take up virtually no space. I never delete game saves but other games only have a handful so they add up to nothing. This is ridiculous! :woot:

On the plus side having so many saves is what saved me from my 1st glitch ruining a 250 hour playthrough. And once I found out about that and how glitch-prone these kind of games are I went over the top being ultra careful on saves going forward. Just never thought they'd add up to so much! Can't wait to free up some space.
