Fallout 4

So cyrogenics like in Mothership zeta or Rage or hell, why not time travel?

So, if that website is legit, I'm assuming we'll play as someone pre-nuclear war who somehow survived.

That would be interesting to play as someone who is prior to the nuclear war and you kind of are part of the war before it got out of hand. But then the nukes hit after a few hours like that and it's more about surviving right as or near after it happened. It would make for an interesting time era of the Fallout series.

Playing as someone at the start or during the war doesn't seem to be in the same style of FO. I mean I love grim and gritty games like that and there's too few good ones but FO usually has a theme or survival and rebuilding instead of "Oh **** we're gonna get nuked" and the panic that would cause. I'd be down for playing it though.

Speaking of grim and gritty games, anyone know any good ones. I'm not talking just shooters like Gears of war but anything else?

The problem is that FO3 essentially looks like the Nuclear war just happened.

No I'm saying that like the first hour would be prior to the war. Then we would spend the rest of the time surviving in the hellscape wasteland.

But I figure this won't happen, it will probably just be another area of the world. Which is fine too.

A Cryogenic vault wouldn't be beyond Fallout though. Look at FO3 with Vault 112. So we start with everyone getting shooed into a vault and shoved into a freezer and wake up like it's Transmetropolitan. I do like the idea.

I don't think that's the idea any of us are suggesting. It should be mainly a hellscape of a game. Ruins. Death, very little of civilization left.

I will be playing 3 & NV within the next few months. What happens in the earlier Fallout games? Anything I need to know?

Ya but it would take a long time to explain a lot of it lol. The Master was one of the all time great villains. Just look him up and read about him. It's a good start.

There are several good resources to the history of the BOS/NCR etc.

Ron Perlman narrates and Liam Neeson is your dad so that's all you need to know

Thanks a lot for that. Will watch the whole thing tomorrow.

Just started Fallout 3 on pc.

I'd love a new Fallout game.

would also like a new, non MMO Elder Scrolls game.

Man...how i envy you!:yay:

There's nothing like the feeling of anticipation you'll get when you stepped out of the Vault and into the big, bad world for the first time...

When the sun blinded you as you stepped out, and that music kicked in...and you look around and you see nothing but barren wasteland and dust...

It's looking great for Fallout. And I'd like the next Elder Scrolls when this gen is a few years in so that they can really take advantage of the technology and give us the definitive fantasy world.

Can't wait!

Should I be doing mods or wait till a later playthrough? Where is the best place to get them?

Definitely wait until later playthrough. That way, you can actually feel what the mods does to enhance the game.

There's only one place to get all the mods for FO3...

http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/?

Register first (it's free) and download the NMM from that site.it's on the top left corner ( a program that automatically install/uninstall mods for you, also free)

THOUSANDS of quality mods!

But the site is now down for a couple of days for maintenance though.

Ok thanks, will look out for it. Which ones would you recommend?

For your first mod, on your first playthrough.... i would try something small first. just so you'll know how to download and install mods.

Maybe a companion mod just to start things off.

I'd also study the fallout 3 folders structure on your pc, so when something goes haywire ( which would inevitably happened with mods) you'll know what to do...where to find the mods on your folders and delete them ( without help from NMM)

and another thing...most of the mods on FO3 PREDATES the NMM...so that means that some of the best mods on that site, you'll have to install them manually and later activate them through NMM, so it may not be a bad idea to get to know your FO3 folders ( data, meshes etc)
