Fallout 4

The graphics are fine as long as the trade off there is that the game has less pop-in and a rock solid frame rate.

Aside from technical stuff, I agree with Ben, it is a very pretty game.

Hopefully the gameplay has improved and bugs are kept to a minimum.

What are Bethesda usually like with closeness of initial announcements to release date? I didn't know the trailer had just come out when I said post 2016.

Well, technically, I think Fallout 3 was announced in 2004 but in a soft way, since it was more or less an announcement that they had purchased the franchise and would be developing and publishing it from 3 onward. The first actual teaser came for it in 2007 I believe, and it was released in 2008. New Vegas was announced in 2009 and released in 2010. So a year, more or less, from announcement to release for the Fallout games.

I half hope it gets released this year and half dread it mostly because they have massive game breaking bugs in the game for the first few months until they get enough info back to start fixing them. I'd rather wait a few more months for them to get the game working than ship it out like they did in NV where everything crashed all the time.

Also.. I'd scream like a girl if they DID say it's not coming till late 2016.. But in the meantime here's Fallout 3/New Vegas two pack for next gen consoles. :)

Games already announced for 2015, aren't coming out in 2015. No way this does imo.

Since they released the trailer now, I guess that means the big reveal at their press conference will be a gameplay demo. I wonder if that's any indication of when the release date might be.

I feel like this is pretty plausible.

I'd also appreciate if they included the invincible Dogmeat bug again. I love having him around and not worrying about him dying.

The immortal companions in NV was a nice touch on that as well. Less trying to save them and more trying to survive whatever took them down.

Oh right, thanks.

Better than the dog**** we got in F03, at least it NV was narratively consistent with the original games.

Still, I rather a new good writing team than having NV's one which wasn't that good, Betheda's games, in general, lacks a good story and characters.

Once I hear it regularly and it starts gaining some momentum (probably in about 3 years) I'll gradually change my tune but have hardly heard anyone mention it at all. For now will enjoy next gen gaming on current consoles! :woot:
oh come on icemannnnnnnn

Also, it's very likely that Fallout 4 will be released this year.

Last time Bethesda debuted a gameplay trailer, Skyrim, the game came out within the same year.

Judging by the sheer amount in the trailer, I would say 2015 is not implausible.

What was wrong with New Vegas' writing? Out of all of the Bethesda RPGs, New Vegas is the only game with actual fully fleshed out characters. Every companion in the game had an arc and every faction narratively served a purpose and the majority of NPCs didn't just hand you quests and plot coupons, you actually had to interact. The game handled mortality and the dreaded "gray area" arguably better than any game that's come before it. There was no clear cut bad guys in NV, that was up for the player to decide.

That was not visually impressive. As I've not played the other games and have nothing else to go on, my excitement for this is non-existent. I'll check out the gameplay at E3 and see from there.

Go kill the guy who shot you in the head doesn't scream greatness, and that's what those games are needing story - wise, with a good plot and solid characters to interact with, not only one. That's it.

That reveal trailer was pretty cool. I sucked at FO3, but I'll give it this one a go.

I need to finish New Vegas. This will kick my ass into getting that done.

Well, in regards to the date, this may or may not mean anything, but 2015 dates are popping up at several retailers starting with Besthesda's store:

Fallout 4 has not yet been rated by the ESRB.

You will be charged the total amount at the time of purchase. This amount is fully refundable if the order is canceled before the ship date.
Your entire order will be held until this product becomes available. The current estimated ship date is TBA 2015.
Ship date subject to change without notice. We will always update this product page with the latest information we have.

There's also been listings at GS and Amazon. Of course, placeholders are very common and everything, so it doesn't confirm anything, but it's pretty interesting that Bethesda is giving out a code that will expire in 2015 for pre-purchasing the game since most coupon codes of that type are giving out when a game ships.

Take with a grain of salt, but 2015 may actually be the date they're shooting for.
