Fallout 4

I wanted to play Fallout 3, so that news is good. Hopefully its the GOTY Edition. Now one of these days I need to get around to buying New Vegas.

I got 3 and NV both GOTY for $30. Get the plain copy and see about getting the DLC cheap as the GOTY copies are garbage. Once you do too much and your save file size hits near 10mb they freeze and crash constantly.

Hopefully or at least they'd let you install the DLC into the system as opposed to running it from the disc.

Went into GameStop and put 60 down on Fallout 4.. also got my name and info first on the list to automatically switch over to Pipboy Edition.

Sweeeet. :)

Also I COMPLETELY missed that Xbox One Fallout 4 will have access to PC mods. That.. That's amazing.

it is amazing.

I wonder if there's a reason why the PS4 can't do that, though.

I imagine it works through Windows X.. and MS isn't about to give Sony any of their golden goose.

Sonnuva! I don't want the X1 for a number of reasons but that's a neat thing. I really hope the PS4 can do that too later.

I think I'm going to switch my AC preorder to Fallout.

The AC games usually go on sale around BF anyways, so I think I can wait on that. or get it when there's a B2G1 free deal.

Fallout 4 is a day 1 purchase no questions asked.

the question is.......do I get it for the PS4 or X1...........

well, if it is related to Windows 10, and the PS4 isn't able to match that, then that would be a gamechanger indeed.

because if mods on the console is successful with Fallout 4, then that could pave the way for the X1 to allow mods on other games in the future.

I know they're completely different systems.. But I swear every Bethesda game that came out on the PS3 was a broken mess. I never had an issue with Fallout 3 on the X1..Plus I feel Bethesda favors Microsoft a bit more. The mods thing along would put me in Camp Xbox.. If I had to decide anyway.

I mean I have no real clue.. Just guessing. But I have a feeling that Windows X is really gonna be a game changer for both PC's and XB1.

Will be interesting to see how they managed to allow pc mods as consoles are usually a closed network (which is more secure).

oh yeah.

hearing about the mod support and BC was like a 1-2 Punch that just upped my interest in giving the X1 another chance.

especially if Sony doesn't have much to counter that in their conference coming up.

and if I didn't already have a PS4, I'd definitely be leaning towards the X1 now.

Sony needs to get in on the mods as well because that is one of the biggest problems console gamers have. We all get to see the awesome (and ****ing bizarre) mods for PC but we can't even give it a patch to fix the stuff that broke after the final patch comes out.

you know what would be another gamechanger?

if MS somehow let you play Windows based PC game ( both disc and digital ) on your X1.

want to play Guild Wars 2 on your X1? Just stick the disc into the X1.

want to play SWTOR on your X1? download it into the X1.

want to play Street Fighter V on your X1? play the PC version on your X1. :cwink:

Todd Howard, the creative lead at Bethesda, has suggested that Fallout 4's PC mods could eventually be accessed from PlayStation 4, hours after revealing the feature for Xbox One. On Monday, Howard took the stage at Microsoft's E3 press conference to reveal that Fallout 4 modded levels developed on PC would also be accessible to Xbox One owners.

However, speaking on the Gameslice E3 show, Howard was paraphrased as saying that he would be interested in offering the same functionality to PS4 copies of the game.

Fallout 4’s PC mod tool is not expected to be available until early 2016, so console mods would likely come soon after that.

Some hope anyway. :D

So I've never played a Fallout game before and Fallout 4 had me interested in checking out one of the older games. I only have a PS3, so are 3 and NV my only options? If so, should I play one in particularly, or both?

I'm a relative newcomer to the series, and I haven't played New Vegas.

But the interesting thing is that Fallout 3 was made by different people than Fallout 1 and 2.

Fallout New Vegas was made by the developers who made 1 and 2, so it's basically their sequel to 1 and 2. That's what a hardcore fan told me, and they're quite different as a result. Both are great games though.

1 and 2 were developed by Black Isle Studios, which got closed down in the mid 2000s. Bethesda did Fallout 3 (and 4) while New Vegas was made by Obsidian. Some of the Black Isle people were working at Obsidian, which made New Vegas a lot closer in tone to the first two games.

Personally Fallout 3 is my favourite. While New Vegas definitely did a lot of things better, including story and characterization, it never seemed quite as vast, or free as Fallout 3 did. New Vegas, while very much an open-world game, was far more linear in it's approach. It also bugged me that after you finish the story in New Vegas, that's the end and you can't continue to explore afterward (which was also the case with Fallout 3 until the Brotherhood of Steel DLC).

I would also recommend to check out the first two. The first is still superb. You can get it pretty cheap at GOG.com. Really any computer of today can run it.

Honestly I like NV better than 3. 3 follows a linear path for the storyline that you can sequence break by accident. NV lets you do whatever you want for four possible endings. 3 also has a lot of winding paths underground that make it a ***** to get anywhere.

Also, I love the DLC for NV a lot more than 3. I didn't like O:A a lot, PL was okay but the extra 'difficulty' damage they added just to be cheap was really a pain and I have no idea what they were thinking with MZ as I hated doing that. NV on the other hand has some great DLC and no matter what anyone says Dead Money has to be one of my favorite DLCs in any game ever, it was a challenge, it made you think/plan different and it paid off insanely well if you didn't mind scrounging. Infinite supplies forever!!! The intertwining story of all the NV DLC was great too.

All in all Fallout 3 is lots of fun, full of crazy stuff and just plain weird and I love it but New Vegas is superior in my opinion. I'd highly recommend playing both just to experience them.

Also, I've spent hundreds of hours wandering the DC wasteland but I never did find the ****ing plunger room and I refuse to look it up online to find where it is. :argh:

If they continue the improvements in FO4 like they did from 3 to NV it's going to be flat out amazing.

I think one thing we'll definitely see a vast improvement on from Fallout 3 to 4 is the followers and their usefulness and general depth of character. Bethesda learned a lot with Skyrim, as seen in the addition of Serana -suddenly we had a follower who took notice of it's surroundings and used the environment (sitting down on chairs, etc). No doubt Bethesda looked to New Vegas for inspiration as well.

Honestly I like NV better than 3. 3 follows a linear path for the storyline that you can sequence break by accident. NV lets you do whatever you want for four possible endings. 3 also has a lot of winding paths underground that make it a ***** to get anywhere.

That seems more like one of those player specific issues :oldrazz:
