In the grand scheme of things, Fallout 4's minor issues pale in comparison to its successes. When you put the controller down, you think about the friend you betrayed to benefit another, the shifting tide of an incredible battle, or the moment you opened a drawer and found someone's discarded effects, making you wonder how they felt before the bombs fell. In moments like these, Fallout 4 can be an intoxicating experience. You're often forced to sacrifice something--a relationship, a lucrative opportunity, or your health--to make gains elsewhere. And the deeper down the rabbit hole you go, the more you wonder: what if I chose a different path? You second guess yourself, not just because you had other options, but because you aren't sure if you did the right thing. The fact that your decisions stick with you after walking away from the game is a testament to the great storytelling on hand. Fallout 4 is an argument for substance over style, and an excellent addition to the revered open-world series.

I thought this game had a new engine. Is it really still running on the old one?
It is a modified version again. A new engine would be love the move from Source to Source 2.

I can live with 9s and 9.5s. lol It sounds like this game is fantastic, really fun to play, with many amazing environments and a super fine attention to detail, but not a graphical powerhouse or a revolutionary gaming experience.

I can live with that. :) I still can't wait. The reviews are actually better than I thought they'd be.

Bethesda has made it known for a while that they've been working on this for a while..which is why it's releasing so soon. I'm sure the next Fallout will be a technical and graphical powerhouse. Probably with a completely new engine.

Hell maybe a New Vegas sequel done by Obsidian will have that?

Either way I don't care. I'll be playing at midnight.

I doubt it. Obisidian got to do New Vegas and put it out rather quickly bc they used assets from FO3. I doubt they are going to have them start from scratch on a new engine for some side title.

I have actually seen someone complain that it didn't get a 10 from Gamespot. :funny:

My only question is which I am going to play first tomorrow. Tomb Raider or Fallout.

Did anyone ask you to care? Why the need to be confrontational?

Tomb Raider bc if you start Fallout, you likely wont have time for anything else for a while. Its why I played Until Dawn before MGSV, bc the latter was all I did for a month

IGN 9.5.

THE VERDICT
The world, exploration, crafting, atmosphere, and story of Fallout 4 are all key parts of this hugely successful sandbox role-playing game. Great new reasons to obsessively gather and hoard relics of happier times, strong companions, and sympathetic villains driving tough decisions make it an adventure I’ll definitely replay and revisit. Even the technical shakiness that crops up here and there can’t even begin to slow down its momentum.

I probably won't play either all the way through before touching the other, but that is a good point.

What? Seriously.. What's got your goat when it comes to what I said? There's literally nothing confrontational there.
Of course it is confrontational. We were talking about the engine and then you come and get dismissive. If you don't care, why are you getting involved in the conversation? To tell us you don't care?

Also, there is very little chance that something like a New Vegas would roll out a new engine, because it would be built off Fallout 4.

One thing bothering me about the reviews is they are doing that thing that really bothers me. Things they would ding other series for, namely the poor engine and performance issues, they are ignoring here. I think I'll get through the bugs and such, but you can't complain about other games launching badly and then push it to the side here.

Soo......MGSV GOTY? :p
On principle, I wouldn't take MGSV. As much as I love playing it, it is obviously unfinished. Best game I have played so far this year is the Witcher 3 or Bloodborne, but I tomorrow I might have two more contenders in my hands.

Considering what happened between Bethesda and Obisidian with New Vegas I highly doubt they will work together again.

But review wise MGSV has the most critical acclaims and perfect scores.

In fact i was kinda hoping that Fallout 4 would get perfect 10's aswell (tho im still getting this game no matter what)

Star Wars Battlefront and this game will consume me!

I'm sorry I hurt your tender feelings, snowflake.

Okay guys, move on from whatever this argument is about. We're getting a little bit too snippy, let's focus on Fallout 4 and other such Fallout related discussion.

I don't even know what's going on.. TBH. Anyway.. Has there been any word of a patch or how big your install should be. I don't want to stay up till midnight.. Only to be forced into an hour long patch..

28 gigs I believe is how big the install is.

Also, LOL at people thinking this game would get anything below 9's.

It's a Todd Howard led title. Dude is money.

November is always a great time to be a gamer. :hmr:

Not looking forward to fighting my girlfriend for my PS4. She's a huge Fallout fan and I'm a huge Star Wars fan. Battlefront and Fallout 4 launching this close together means my little PS4 is gonna be working overtime. Glad to hear there letting people pick the game up at 10pm. Hope the install won't take long.

My lone issue with Fallout(and Elder Scrolls for that matter) is the melee combat. Iv always wanted to create an Eli(from The Book of Eli) type character in these games but the combat just doesn't suit going with a character like that. I long for the day of a Fallout with Witcher-esq sword/knife combat.
