Animation Family Guy

In the Family Guy movie, Stewie went to the future and learned Brian had died. Granted, it was by eating chocolate, but still, props to Seth on following through on killing off somebody even if it totally sucks.

Stewie went to the future to get his Christmas present, betting that's going to have something to do with Brian's resurrection. Also someone on my twitter said there's 3 upcoming eps with "Brian" in the title.

Good episode though, always a great show for a few good laughs (even in this darker episode lol)

Maybe the present was for Brian. So if Stewie went to the future to get it. Then that means that Brian could be brought back because Stewie established a living Brian in the future. So time would have to adjust to that.

Does any of that make sense?

It's more likely that Stewie will steal past Stewie's return pad in order to go back and fix things.

Actually, that's extremely common. Especially when it's a family with kids. Though I don't disagree with your sentiment.
Even without kids it's common to want something to fill that void. Not to replace the lost pet itself since I don't think any two animals have the same habits and personality but to feel like there's something there again. It's especially true if you've had a pet for several years and it's become a part of your family.

In other cases people are just too mournful or determined to avoid loss again to replace it.

It's a little like remarriage after a spouse dies. Sometimes it comes quick, other times after many years, and some never remarry. Brian was a dog with human qualities- he ate at a table, slept with human women, and was a stinkin' drunk. It's no surprise the very idea of Vinny existing puts off a lot of the fanbase.

The real problem's this show's dyslexic drama; they want it to stay a comedy, so they had to cut the Griffin's mourning down with a timeskip and replace him immediately. But they also want this to have gravity, which is hard after they've joked about every character dying in some way and waived off plotholes that would make the audience incredulous in any other setting besides a self-aware cartoon. It's a bind of their own making that would've worked better before MacFarlane split his focus between three shows.

I gave in and saw the episode, despite the fact it reminded me of a lot of raw emotions I still have over losing my own dog to a car.

I don't like Vinnie. And I'm not saying that because he replaced Brian. Vinnie just seems more a stereotype than a character. And I don't dig the overly Italian stereotype. It's been done to death and there's nothing new or interesting there. I would have liked a more subdued character like Brian whose humor or character emerges organically and subtly over time, rather than "bada bing! Throw me a ball and I'll get you an iPhone that fell off da back of a truck!!"

It is daring to kill Brian, I'll give them that. And at least people are talking about Family Guy again. And it's amazing how quickly people have gone from hating Brian before he died, to demanding FOX bring him back or they'll quit the show. I guess it shows as annoying and self-righteous as he got in later years, he was still an essential part of the show and it feels empty in his absence. Maybe it'd be like if they killed Lisa off in 'The Simpsons.' No one really likes her. But there'd be riots to bring her back, because she's an integral part of the show.

I'd be so crazy if they kept him dead for the remainder of the show. It might not be good for the show creatively (Vinnie's awful), but I'd admire their testicular fortitude and commitment. If Brian comes back in 6 episodes or even a year, this episode will feel like a cop-out in retrospect.

This reminds me a bit of when Southpark kept Kenny dead for a season and had a similar mourning episode.

Less than a minute for the revelation regarding Brian

FOX has already confirmed it's a hoax and not affiliated with them.

After watching the episode, Brian needs to stay dead. It was so wonderfully handled, and the writers really nailed down the emotions when getting over a pet and embracing a new one. I just went through losing two 13+ year-old pets, and it was like living it all over again with Brian. My only complaint was the actual death felt glossed-over. However, in a situation like that, it's going to be very all-of-a-sudden.

I was fully expecting this to be my last Family Guy episode, but I was impressed. Really hoping this indicates a new beginning for the writers.

But is this Vinny really the best replacement character?? What's good is they can still do flashbacks with Brian.

"That's not as bad as the time me and Brian did this..." etc

No. Just as we got rid of the Jersey Shore mob early this year, McFarlane punched us all in the nads with another Guido headache in the form of Vinny.

Obviously, they will have to change the intro.

They're skipping this week, right?

I actually think Peter is the most annoying character on the show. Stewie and Brian are my favorites. As far as Lisa Simpson goes, I think she's a decent character. Her best episodes usually revolve around her relationship with Homer or Bart.

I got to be honest, I've read a lot of stupid crap on the internet, but some of the stupidest crap ever is the whining about Brian's death.

I mean on one level I can understand being upset about the death of a beloved fictional character. On the other hand, the stuff I read that got typed out is some of the lamest, stupidest stuff I've ever seen.

I think part of it though is because I've become so indifferent to Family Guy as of late. But the way I see it, it was a rather dramatic and touching sendoff for Brian as far as this show could go.

I'm completely shocked and surprised at this unexpected turn of events. If I wore a monocole, it would have fallen from my eye.

So it's tonight then?

So that whole thing and the media frenzy it caused was, in essence, all for nothing?

Cool story, Family Guy. Now die in a ****ing fire and make way for **** that's actually watchable. :o

I mean, we all knew this was going to happen sooner or later. Kind of silly that they only went two episodes before bringing him back. For as dumb as this show can be, I kind of admired the fact that they were willing to make a major change like that, and seem to commit to it.
