Thanos being sidelined for Loki is the main villain in an Avengers movie again is not the right way to go. At all.

Maybe so...but if Thanos is defeated by Guardians of the Galaxy (which is likely to be the lowest grossing marvel movie to date...especially given what a crappy run at the box office sci-fi is on)...then Thanos is either being "side-lined" as a GotG villain, therefore not even making it to an Avengers movie...or, he will have been defeated by GotG and still fighting the Avengers at some point (so...if GotG can beat him, surely the Avengers can).

My point is...Thanos should win in GotG...just annihilate them...or he's a secondary character that doesn't need to be built to Avengers 3.

While I expect Thanos to have a presence in GOTG, I definitely don't expect him to be the main villain that the Guardians fight. I imagine that would be Ronan.

It will be Ronan that gets defeated. Thanos will probably just be mildly inconvenienced.

I'm all for Thanos just being in the background for an entire Phase...gathering up stones. At some point, Thanos will have to invade Asgard to get that final stone...which I assume would be an Avengers 3. I'd love it if Marvel had the patience and forethought to do that.

What is so wrong with the movie that BigThor has to lose his mind over it? I mean...it wasn't great, kinda rushed and under-baked...but not THAT bad.

He's more upset at the critics' ratings.

In that case, I also see little reason to get angry over bad reviews, as the movie is hardly Citizen Kane with a hammer.

Agreed. The movies going to get the reviews it deserves.

Yeah, no. In no way is the first film better than this.

If it makes BigThor feel better, it's in my top 5 marvel movies.

Avengers
Incredible Hulk
Amazing Spider-Man
Iron Man
Thor: The Dark World

I just saw the first Thor film again. Man does that movie look cheap in comparison. Holy crap. I remember it looking cheap when I saw it in theatres but not that bad. Compared to film 2 it's like a student film shot on a digital camera.

Agreed

Here would be my current rankings of the MS films:

Avengers
Iron Man 1
Iron Man 3
Thor: The Dark World
Thor
Iron Man 2
Captain America: The First Avenger
The Incredible Hulk

This was a good entertaining film, noting more, nothing less. It's OK to have a solid base hit, you don't have to knock it out of the park every time. To me it's a bigger disappointment when you have the ambition of a film like Man of Steel and it comes off looking like a festering turd with crappy writing and bad acting.

I noticed that nearly right at the start. I can't say I thought the first film looked "cheap" at the time I saw it, but I did realize the special effects weren't great. I remember seeing it in 3D and on Jotunheim you could barely see anything it was so poorly lit.

Thor TDW just looked bigger and grander than the first film, and yet I'm very glad they took what they did and built on it, rather than scrap everything for totally new designs. Kudos to the art direction team and the costume design.

I just came back from the film and I honestly didn't expect to enjoy the movie this much. I mean this film had everything Comedy, Romance, Action Drama all mixed very well. Let me start with the Directing. Alan Taylor definitely gave Asgard a more realistic touch which you could notice right away and definitely made the film feel more alive I wouldn't mind seeing him back for Thor 3. Next up the story. The story was pretty good I only had two gripes with the story First was the villain. I did feel that Malekith was a pretty boring villain. He was not developed properly but I can understand with the movie being so short and it being a sequel they had to limit some of the story telling. Another complaint i had was with editing the editing was really choppy at some points and made the beginning really hard to follow what was going on but after Jane comes to Asgard I felt the editing/story got a lot better. All the actors did a terrific job and Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston steal the show. Both of them are Thor and Loki and I can't imagine anyone else playing these two characters. The Score was pretty epic and I think Brian Tyler did a good job making a more memorable and epic score. The action in this film was the best and most creative I think in all MCU Solo films. Overall I think that this film was better than the first and I definitely am excited to see more of Thor in Avengers and Thor 3 I give this film a

8.5/10

Marvel's films tend to have a consistently flat lighting approach. Not too far removed from the shield show.
The game of thrones guy couldn't help but jazz it up a bit. That being said, I've personally seen some flare here and there(IM films).

Wait, dinner scene? The transition from the cave in Svart, to Jane's car, and then immediately the next scene is them opening the door at the apartment seemed very network TV'ish based on the pace.
I was talking to someone while reading and apparently I messed up reading that. I was talking about a different passage so ignore what I said. I didn't have a problem with it but I get what you mean.

What was your rating? I might bump it up to an 8.0 .... I just need to see it again to clear up some things.

I don't necessarily mind Volstagg and Sif being so out of place ..... it's that the execution compared to previous credit stingers is slightly jarring. I'd go so far as to say in some ways the Asgardians looked more fish out of water in Tivan's lab than Thor does on Earth. In IM2 and Avengers they alluded to characters/situations you eventually see in the mid-credit. There is no mention in this film of Tanaleer Tivan even existing, nor do you ever get the sense that the Asgardians needed to separate the stones. It's just BAM, here's quirky guy and two of the lesser important characters from the film quickly dumping off an artifact that can destroy the universe.

I think they would've been better served showing some kind of discussion taking place about what to do with the stone, show them being teleported thru the bifrost, and THEN show us the interaction with Tanaleer.
I haven't set a firm grade yet, but I think it will be 4/5. For context; the grade 2 is OK, I don't give half grades (I'd use a 10 grade scale if I wanted more steps) and I very rarely give 5/5.

As for the mid-credits scene I don't need to hear about the Collector and why they are there in the movie as the scene describes that itself. It's enough for me that the scene doesn't contradict anything in the movie and it doesn't. They haven't kept two stones together before, and they have tried to hide them in other places and failed so they've gone for another option. I can understand Taylor not liking it as it's something added to a work with his name on it, but personally I can treat it as a semi-separate thing.

Interesting. I thought TDW looked like a glorified tv episode.

Thor looked like a Smallville episode.
