If any of you get a chance I highly recommend you see this film in IMAX 3D. I've seen it in regular 3D and IMAX 3D and the difference is incredible!

As far as how I rate this movie- 8/10
This is movie based on a comic book. Not based on a novel (e.g., Lord of the Rings) so I didn't want or need it to look like that. I wanted to see a thor movie based on thor and his world and I got it. I didn't go in expecting a "Saving Private Ryan" type quality movie like the critics seem to do. I went in expecting Marvel to do their best to try and adapt one of their "B" list fantasy heros to the big screen (something many thought would be impossible to do), and I think they succeeded. Think about it- a Thor movie bringing in over 80mil OW incredible!
Now I'm looking forward to TWS!

Yeah, even Thor himself found out about the alignment of the worlds 7 minutes before it happened!
No he didn't. It was dark outside when they went back to Jane's place and they discussed what was going on with Erik. It was midday when he battled Malekith.

I would presume it was late evening, 7 to 8ish when they got back to Earth, as Jane got a call from Richard at the time. Why would Richard call her really early in the morning or in the middle of the night?

so did loki kill odin? and what about the collector? that was such a campy performance by benicio.

overall, a very entertaining movie. i'd give it a 7/10. one of the better phase 2 movies.

Nah

Imprisoned IMO

They wouldn't kill off Odin, ruler of the 9 realms for millennia, off screen

when loki illusioned cutting off thor's hand, i thought "man! now they can't do that in the aquaman movie"

or maybe it was a nod to aquaman?

It was 3 seconds of close quarter fighting clips. What do you want me to say? It's innovative?
Oh, you haven't seen the full scene? That makes sense now. It isn't super innovative, I agree. But it is top class work. Quite beautiful imo. The most "Cap" Cap has looked on film.

When was this scene shown? At a convention?

It was shown at D23 earlier this year. They have also released it in front of TDW in 3D. It is a part of 5mins of footage shown before the film. Basically it is the scene plus a different edit of the trailer, with quite a few new shots. I also love how they use the music from the trailer in the new edit. Very powerful.

Frigga's and Loki's deaths should have definitely had more time for those involved to react to and absorb completely instead of cutting to Earth for a comedic scene....

I mean going from Frigga's funeral/Loki's Reaction to Erik Selvig jabbering away in the mental institution, along with going from Loki's death to Jane getting a phone call and Thor being shown jealous was completely STUPID.

Well I can't comment on the scene other than what I've seen in the trailer, which is what I thought people have been referring to.

I personally think the trailer looks great. The shot of Cap riding down the quinjet is one of the most cinematic shots I have seen in the MCU.

I think Frigga's funeral was really epic. They spent a good 2-3 minutes on it and the score just swelled to a powerful crescendo there. I think it was beautifully staged.

Well yeah, that I agree. I just meant that I thought the choice to cut from that beautiful montage/scene to one involving Erik blabbering about the convergence was a dumb move. They could have found another scene to cut to that would have been more appropriate.

It would have been nice if we actually cared about the character. Had actually spent time with her and understood her love for her sons. Would have made the scene something more then pretty.

Eh, it's standard action movie stuff to me. It kinda looks like Marvel blew their load with the trailer. Contrast that with Xmen where it's clear they are going to build up to that films release, which to me is far more intriguing.

Considering IM3 and TDW, they aren't close to that. There is plenty we haven't seen yet. The story has only been hinted at. DoFP took some MoS trailer music and put it over the mutants being sad (which is quite standard at this point), or in case of the future mutants, being sad in horrible clothing. :funny:

These were the two moments were I thought the humour was awfully placed and had no right to be there. Some in the final battle was bad too, but these two effected what should have been two very important and emotional scenes.

I just hope that Robert Redford's appearance in the film isn't underutilized. Marvel has had a back track, imho, in not taking full advantage of some of the bigger stars that they've managed to secure for their films when it comes to their villains: Rourke, Kingsly, Chris E., Hugo, etc...

Given the context of CA:TWS's scenario, they have no room imho to simply treat the villains as a plot device like they did with Malekith since one of the biggest points of the film is dealing with the whole shaded/grey area of morality, etc.

Personally, regarding Thor's scene with Jane when they went into that cave after Loki had "died", I would have had them having a serious conversation about recent events, along with possibly having Thor doubt himself which would lead to Jane helping to reassure him, thus helping build some validity in their relationship within the MCU.

And instead of her lunch date's phone call being the reason that helped Jane figure out that there was a portal there, she could have just simply spotted the keys and make the connection from there.

Also, after Frigga's death...instead of cutting right away to Selvig's scene, I would have had a moment where Thor was taking some time alone to mourn for his mother on his own and seeing first hand how this was affecting his father...we could even insert the Warriors Three (or two) and Sif trying to console him as well about it.

And I would have personally gotten rid of Darcy's BF, place Hawkeye in the film as a SHIELD liaison who comes to London after being alerted about the mysterious portals there and helping Thor take down the dark elves when they arrive on Earth.

Cap 2 more or less was devoid of anything other than cool looking action shots - which is fine but given the amount of movie trailers like that it makes it look cliched and uninteresting. I'm much more likely to take notice of a big budget movie trailer that doesn't adhere to stereotypes, because it generally means the film makers want to build up to the movie, meaning the next trailer is probably going to start delivering more of the spectacle. The problem with trailers that hit you with the cool stuff first up is that follow up trailers general don't have the same punch, and in many cases simply reuse some of the footage from the previous one. In a sense they're just repackaging the same 2 mins they showed 6 months earlier.

All of this sounds much better than what was in the actual movie. And who knows, maybe Taylor wanted to do something like this, but Marvel didnt want it, its obvious from the interviews, especially the Collider one, that they meddled with this a lot and Taylor isnt completely happy with the movie.

I just hope Marvel learn, TIH and TDW are the ones they have meddled with the most and they both have the worst critical score out of all the MCU movies, it obviously isnt working when they meddle. TDW will make a lot of money, but whos to say the movie wouldnt have made more if they had made it better and not messed with Taylors vision?

Agreed; heck, look at how Iron Man 2 suffered from them wanting to get that film out so quickly after the success of Iron Man 1 and how they influenced in what the story ended up being in the end.

Also, the post-credit scene for Guardians did not give me any confidence that Guardians is in good hands since I thought it was terribly shot and done; came off more as a regular Sci-Fi channel film.

I've read and even experiences audiences having a "WTF" expression/reaction to that scene.
