it feels like in the music industrie...some artists move on in their creative processes and the people complain that it dosent sound the same anymore. but when an artist moves on with his style people will complain that it all sounds the same. marvel should not appologize to any of the fans for what they try to do. they are an indipendet studio. they dont have the issues with all the producers talking and influencing the directors and writers. if not all fans like what they do then fine.

This was way better then the first one with it's ****** dutch angles and ****. But even though this had a better flow then the first one, there is never enough time to make Thor Lord of the rings type epic.
Everything happens in a course of few days, a week at most. And the nine realms were emancipated in year or two, and we only see the last battle for that. I don't mean to sound like a negative nelly, but I can't help it. I just find these Marvel movies to be made too much of the same mold, and I can't get no satisfaction from that.
Still better then the first one, even with all the flaws. Oh well.

After my first viewing, I'd rate it a 6, maybe 7/10, which is disappointing because I had high, high hopes for this movie.

Maybe I'm off base here, but I think we can trace a lot of the problems down to Alan Taylor and the editing process. First, I don't think this was a project Taylor was passionate about. That sounds pretentious, I know, but I really didn't get the feeling that he cared much about the material. I think he got mostly average performances out of everyone (except Loki) and the arc for Thor was almost non-existent. Couple that with a generic villain and you get a mediocre movie, which is what it was. As a Thor fan, it was sad to see. I wanted more.

Some good things: the score, the funeral scene, Asgard's new look, Heimdall (always a bawse), and the Thor/Kurse fight (even if it was way too short).

ETA: cameo was awesome, and I'm totally ready for GotG

I gave it an 8. I really enjoyed it and it was much better than the first movie. I wanna go see it again because it so was loud in the theater when Loki was shape shifting I couldn't hear all the lines.

I give it an 8.5-9/10 I really enjoyed the movie, much more than the first actually. I think the first movie really got me because of just the awe factor. I think the first movie, especially when Sif and the others come to Earth and fight, their armor/weapons seemed like toys. This go around it was soo much more grounded and honestly had more of a LOTR feel to me.

I loved Loki yet again, and whoever was responsible for the art direction in this film gets 2 thumbs up from me.

I saw it last night. To me this is a solid 8 movie. It wasn't great, like the first one imo. This is a perfectly enjoyable film, the action was great, the acting was on point (although Natalie Portman got a little annoying at times) and unlike everyone else I actually liked Maleketh and thought he was actually the most formidable villain we've seen in the MCU thus far. Think about it: Iron Monger, Whiplash, "Mandarin", Red Skull, Abomination, Loki....Maleketh has by FAR been the most dangerous and the most world threatening villain we've had so far. These are the type of villains I like to see heroes battle.

I will say the film lacked that certain..."something" to make it truly great, that certain heart and magic that made me love Thor 1. But this was so much better than Ironman 3. Unlike that movie I really enjoyed the humor in this as I felt it wasn't as forced and as relentless as it was in IM3.

Oh, and no offense, Marvel, but so far the Phase 2 after credit stingers have really sucked. What happened? The phase one after credit scenes were all so awesome and got you so geeked out and hyped for the next movie; I'm sorry but even as an avid Marvel comics fan, seeing the Collector talk to Sif did absolutely nothing for me. I didn't even know who he was. Yes, I know they were somehow setting up Guardians of the Galaxy but really, that was the best tease you could come up with?

But anyway, all in all another strong notch in Marvel's belt. I'm confident that Winter Soldier is going to be THE Phase Two movie that really raises the bar again.

Review is there...but overall it is such an improvement over the first film and that Game of Thrones stamp is marked all over! And I loved that! Can't stop thinking about the after credit scene either!

Huge Thor fan, I thought it was the best of the stand-alone MCU movies and one of my favorite characters all around. This movie was an absolute delight. It had everything I wanted in a Thor sequel. It was hilarious, had awesome action, I thought the whole cast was great and I had so much fun watching it. This movie was a much bigger and better film than the first one and miles ahead of both Iron Man sequels. I have no idea how someone could give this movie a negative review if they are a fan of the movie. Easily a 9/10 for me, it seems like people are too jaded to actually enjoy movies at face value anymore. I'm usually a bit of a critic and there was nothing in the movie that stood out as obviously lacking, and there were some moments with all the twists and turns and the cameo that just kept me smiling the whole way through. And the action was some of the best we've seen from MCU! This movie deserves to be a big hit, judging from the audience it was a total crowd pleaser. It was clear it had us on the edge of our seats and there was a lot of reaction and laughs, and applause afterward. Amazing movie and I can't wait to see it again.

Like most here I enjoyed it gave it an 8/10

Ok, so, it was obviously better shot and acted/written, but did
the kiss between Thor and Jane on Asgard remind anyone of the lake scene in Attack of the Clones? The similar scenery, plus Portman, I couldn't stop thinking it once I saw it.

Yes, it reminded me very much of that scene. I also thought [BLACKOUT]Damn! Natalie has bad luck with boyfriends when Thor got his arm cut off like Anakin.[/BLACKOUT] :funny:

Loved it, the only thing I was disappointed in was some of the choreography, especially Fandral's. This was one thing I thought the first film did better. Fandral and the other warriors three each had great, albeit short, scenes in the first that captured their characters well. Not so much in this one. I don't think it was the actor change, I think it was just the choreography and lines given for the character. Fandral just wasn't swashbuckle-y enough like the first. Again, minor disappointment though.

I was also surprised at the lack of Sif and the Warriors Three. From all the promotion I thought Jaime Alexander was going to have a strong presence in this film but she was in it less than Thor 1. I'm surprised there wasnt any love triangle stuff between her Thor and Jane.

yes the significance of them having their own character posters but dont have that much presence is strange...odin ok but then why not frigga? well guess its cooler showing axe wielding men and hot women with swords

9/10

Better than the first film in my opinion and simply a great sequel. The stakes were higher. That’s where this film excels over the original. There’s heart and humor but far better action and far more dire consequences.

Thor The Dark World isn’t the most complex comic-to-big screen adaptation yet but it doesn’t have to be. It has many strengths that elevate it higher than your average ho-hum, wham-bam action flick. It’s a pure action thriller with plenty of heart and charm. Good things that most critics were able to pick this up and relay it to the public!

Saw it last night at an 8:00 show. It was great I would give it a 9/10.

Also, am I the only one who liked Maleketh? I thought he was a very badass, formidable villain. Probably the most formidable we've seen in the MCU except Loki.

I loved Malekith as well. I thought his story was developed and his motives clear. I don't know why people are complaining about it, the beginning of the movie explained it all. If any more time was given to his background, the movie would have been more about him. Which would be stupid, given that he's defeated at the end.

Agreed. I really don't know what problem people had with him. He was much better than any of Ironman's villains thats for sure.

I thought he was a fantastic villain.

Maleketh was awesome, give me an old fashioned take over/destroy the world/universe any day.

Nope. I liked him a lot and loved their final battle. I don't understand how anyone is missing his motivation in this movie. He mentions it at least twice although I can't remember it verbatim.

I think Kurse worked better in the film than Malekith, I'd agree. Malekith was a very standard villain, and he feels like a plot device more so than a character. Kurse, being a henchman, can get away with that much more easily, and he was awesome when he was in the movie.

This is like Zod and Faora all over again lol. I preferred Kurse over Malekith same way I preferred Faora over Zod.:woot:

Was the final battle really that comedic overall?

The battle itself is not comedic but the cuts to Darcy, Salveig and Jane were funny. Especially when Darcy and the intern get teleported whilst making out.:funny:

He's formiddablr but underdeveloped but I'll agree, he's the most powerful villain in the MCU so far.

I just thought he needed more screentime. Yes his motives were clear. If people walk out of the movie not knowing his motives, that means they weren't paying attention.

Big Thor has nothing to worry about..He is going to love it...
Have to say the Viking funeral gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes......

I didn't mind Malekith at all and I thought his short-comings were overblown a bit. He basically reminded me of Khan from Star Trek II in the way his character was executed and amount of screentime he received. And he and Kurse seemed to be tag-teaming for screentime anyway. Their characters designs were damn good as well.
