Honestly, while I dislike most things about the film, I do like the choice of Miles Teller as a young Reed and Michael Jordan as Johnny. The other two castings aren't that great though.

Ugh I'm halfway through that interview and watching these idiots be confused at the idea of adoption and ignoring Mara already telling them that Sue's adopted is painful. Newsflash, adopted brother and sister are still brother and sister.
Yes, but it does change their relationship.

Oh, absolutely, and I'm not the biggest fan of it being in this film, but the guy seems baffled by the concept of them having that kind of relationship.

Was there adoption in the 1950s? Because they seem from that era. :funny:

Well, in our forward-thinking times she gets to stay behind and sit in a chair and watch the boys do stuff

Oh boy here comes the sexual harassment...

Wait, is this guy complaining about Man of Steel not using the John Williams theme too? *sigh*

Shut up about the hair, seriously. Good on the PR person for cutting them off before it got worse.

So, basically like how no one wants to see female superhero films so they put no effort into making them good and then blame the fact no one apparently wants to see them for why they bomb instead of just they suck? :o
It's exactly like the female Superhero situation. Catwoman and Elektra tanked because they were starring women, not because they were awful.

Weren't they awful because they starred women? :o

I still laugh that Joss had to fight to have Black Widow in the Avengers. They really wanted all men.

Wait...this happened? Oh, Marvel...
The original draft had Janet, but went they ditched Hank and Janet, they seemed to want to go with all men. Joss said it would be a sausage fest and they needed Widow.

Well, I'm sure it would have made even more money if it didn't have girl cooties. :o

I'm glad Joss fought to have a female member on the team. Also, I'm not that big of an Avengers fan but I did like the inclusion of Scarlet Witch.

I don't understand the end game to making them feel uncomfortable. Strange...

They're getting exactly what they want - attention. There are people all over the internet talking about them now and that wouldn't have happened with a civilized interview.

I still don't like the casting or writing one bit. That scene where Sue says: "It's up to us to save the world." And Reed stammers "Us, us?" Is the worst.

Real Reed was fighting WW2 when he was young. He wasn't some chicken**** *****e.

I wonder why Fox went the young route when comicbook films aren't really trending that way? I don't mean the casting necessarily but I'm guessing his characters are in their very early twenties.

Marvel are casting 30 to 40 something actors for most of their roles and so is WB/DC.

Probably because Trank pitched it. He brought over a Chronicle buddy, and that pretty much skewed the ages. This could also be the second comic book film franchise killed with a Chronicle alumni.

So the lesson is don't allow Chronicle's main actors to be in your Superhero film.

Kinberg has said (and I cringe to even paste this):

"And the FF’s transformation, for him, was a literalisation of that coming of age. To make them older, in their thirties or forties, would have taken away from what he wanted to do dramatically.”

"It’s almost like if this is a coming of age story for these characters, the next movie is about what it is to be a grown-up in the world…”

And Josh Tank has said:

"When I was in middle school and high school, I was over 100 pounds overweight," he said. "I had a condition called gynecomastia — I had really big man boobs — and I got a surgery for it. My whole adolescence was hating myself and feeling suicidal. I was made fun of by a lot of other kids in such a way that I didn't feel like I was human."

That's it. That's what the story is about. It's not about people with amazing powers exploring strange worlds battling alien creatures . . . it's about Trank's man-boobs.

Trank and Kinberg thought it would be a really neat idea to make a film not about superheroes but about puberty. The transition and 'body horror' is an allegory for puberty and the military stands in for the parents and teachers who "just don't understand" (from the ignorant view of the kids - we adults understand much better than kids realize because we were there once).

It's a really dumb idea and this is a film geared towards kids, but that's the explanation.

Wait, so...this is a film about puberty...but it's also not for kids. Doesn't that just seem like the audience that topic may be most relevant to...?

Well too be fair, there is a difference between little kids and teens. Though I definitely see your point.

Josh Trank wanted to aknowledge her "****ty secretary" side from the comics, I guess... (You know, the side that he is the only one to see) :sly:
