Rise of the Silver Surfer Fantastic Four 2: Production Update(s)

Are you kidding....???? I thought the marketing for this movie last time was excellent....far better than most of the movies I saw marketed last year.....I don't think you would have had near the people in those seats for a comic franchise as little known as this one, without the marketing they did.....

Everyone whining because there was no Super Bowl teaser....come one....the areas they used for their marketing were perfect in my opinion....

I didn't say the marketing was bad in terms of getting people at the theaters but bad in terms of quality. For the ones following the movie we overly spoiled. X3 so far has had a great strategy.

What was not quality????? The only thing in my opinion that wasn't quality was the fact that the first trailer was left in some theaters with the July 4, 2005 date....

*Cartoon Network Blitz
*NBA Finals
*March Madness College Basketball
*MLB spots
*MTV Blitz
*Comedy Central Blitz July 4th Weekend special
*Commercials all over the place the 3 weeks before the movie
*Mall Marketing around the country
*Every Talk Show out there plus morning Shows
*Fox Movie Channel Special

What was not quality about all of the above?????

The spoilers is not the marketing's fault....its the fault of the fact that they edited the hell out of the movie and all that was left was what was in the trailers....

The fact that they ruined main parts of the film by putting it in the trailers. Doom's fate, most of the action, etc. They gave to much away but that is just my opinion...obviously not yours. I would like them to keep it under wraps more like they are doing with X3.

Well I do think that is probably something that they have learned....I doubt we will have near as much access to anything as we did last year....

Honestly, the leaking of the shooting script was the biggest screw up in my opinion....they need to keep a lid on their employees this time around....

Thank you for seeing it how I do. I mean I watched the trailers and loved the action scenes and when I watched the movie there was barely anything new to see actionwise.

I don't necessarily see that as the problem of marketing...as I said I see that as a problem of the editing...fix the editing NOT the marketing in my opinion....

My point all along. The editing department messed it up. Don't blame Story for that highlight reel we got.

You know me. I'll defend the FF, or the movie, anytime, anyplace, and anybody. :) Just the way I'm wired when it comes to the FF. :thing:

While i admire your devotion Thing, you really need to stop jumping on people for saying something negative about this movie. Whether you liked or not, the movie is generally poorly thought of in the world. It barely got any good reviews and many people dont put it high on their best of marvel lists. Many people do not like the movie, you cant just keep jumping on them for that.

And I believe that you have a right to your opinion as well....but your generalizations can be just as bad as Thingy's generalizations that every negative is a massive slam to the movie....There is just no proof of that anywhere......we have critics that did not like it...but they DO NOT speak for the masses they speak for themselves....and a box offic (though does not speak of quality for any movie) does show that a widely unknown comic franchise did very well in comparison to other much better known franchises in their first time out....ESPECIALLY WORLDWIDE ...... so your above blanket statement just cannot be proven therefore as a general blanket statement is inaccurate.

And I'm sorry but the mainstream audience doesn't have a Marvel List....it was a movie to them that apparently many did enjoy....whether we thought it was quality or not.....critics and 5% of the audience does not speak for the majority.....the only thing we can look at from them is the BO and it certainly was not as bad as you make it out to be....

Don't get me wrong Ave, I was not happy with the movie as far as what was left out....and have stated as such....but I simply have a problem with strong general blanket statements like the above....

Yes but you should defend something thats ACTUALLY THERE TO DEFEND. You just brought up a whole subject that wasn't being talked about and you started bashing me about it. And if you actually read my posts in this forum you would know I actually enjoyed the movie and think Story is worthy of another shot.

...and thank you for speaking for the world Ave. Generally poorly thought of? You need to get out more. Maybe among the hyper sensitive fanboy/geek world, but if I might speak for the world here for a minute, I think they rather enjoyed it. But what a task it is speaking for the world. I don't have the right.

When someone says something negative about the FF, or the movie, I take it very personally, ( as any rabid fan should ). Seeing the movie over 50 times, and still watching the DVD, makes me as rabid as they come. I'll be watching it till the DC comes out, then till the sequel comes out. Can't get enough. When it comes to the FF, that's just the way I am. The movie was great ( despite the flaws ). Thank you Avi, Mark, and Tim for bringing it to us. 4 decades I've been waiting. And I know the sequel will be better.

Well in my experience it is poorly thought of. Look on various web-sites that have customer reviews and they are less than average, Amazon, IDMB. While this doesnt prove my statement about the world not liking, it gives a lot of evidence towards it. IMO if it wasnt for children, this movie would have bombed.

And WTF i need to get out more, dude i go out more than most people eat, so dont make assumptions.
