Does
Tyrese Gibson do his cameo as his character from 2 Fast 2 Furious?

EDIT: Just one more thing...
You said that Diesel gets a phone call telling him that Rodriguez's character is dead, but does the movie have the shot from the trailer of Rodriguez's character on the ground with some kind of head wound?

Here's a question, Cmill:

Does this film take place after the first but before the second or does it take place after the first two?

Also:

How big of a role does Han (from the third film) have in this film?

From what I've heard it takes place after the first two but before the third movie.

Inbetween 2Fast 2Furious and Tokyo Drift

A cameo role. Maybe 10-11 min.

Nope.

You get a sequence of flashbacks that details how it happened. It's a bizarre, pseduo CSI type of scene.

I never noticed until now the story similarities between the first F&F and Point Break.:o I don't care though, I'd still take The Fast And The Furious over Point Break any day.

Mister J. :mad::csad::o

So, anyway, is this gonna flop or not? People are predicting a $40 million opening. That seems crazy. I don't see more than $20 million and a #2 spot.

Thoughts?

In between. Vin Diesel really isn't a box office draw any more neither is the rest of the cast.

It's probably going to get a big opening weekend (40-50 million), but then a big drop off in sales, ala Friday the 13th.

This movie is going to open somewhere around 40 million? It doesn't sound ridiculous at all. It may very well exceed expectations.

Based on the audience reactions from the screening I went to, this is going to be a big hit with the teen market. I think $35 million+ is entirely reasonable.

That, and the fact that the same people that made the film film a hit may want to see this one because both Vin Diesel and Paul Walker are back together.

I still like Vin. But I've never been a fan of F & F. That being said, I think this movie will do well. It doesn't appear to have any competition, and its a nice pop corn movie to usher in the summer blockbuster season. Without any real competition it might cruise until Wolverine.

the third one didnt have any stars and that one was successful. most people think the first was the best and having everyone back will probably help. the only problem is the recession (and I haven't seen much promo in the way of interviews and stuff...)

It should do well, I can't see it failing.

Beware of Hannah Montana: The Movie, DarKush. :o

This entire franchise is about racing souped up classics and imports. That **** never dies, from Cali to Chi-town to NYC, there are always dudes that love that scene.

$35-40 million? I don't know. Seems a bit excessive for a franchise no one takes seriously.

2 Fast 2 Furious made $50 million in its OW with just Paul Walker.

The original made $40 million in its OW back in 2001.

A $35-40 million OW weekend for this film is far from excessive. Hell, some might even consider it a low ball estimate.

Yes, but don't forget that everyone hated the movie and it dropped big time its 2nd weekend. It went from $50 to $18 million! That's a major drop, man. And at the end of the day it made less than the first movie.

Which can be credited to both the quality and the lack of Vin Diesel.

Paul Walker is nice and all, but Diesel is the main draw. That's evident in the screentime he gets in this film compared to Walker. Together, I think they pack a pretty appealing punch for that gearhead/teen market.

The novelty factor will sell this movie, plus the lack of direct competition. With Taken fading and Watchmen a non-issue, there's no other action movie out there.

I just have that gut feeling that this film will open big and exceed expectations.

Even if it opens big it won't have much legs. Vin Diesel is gonna be beat by Hannah Montana. :o:o:o
