Why did they release both of these movies in Australia first?

Seen it... and it Rocked...(no pun intended)

Don't look if you don't wanna know big spoilers....
Thought this was a damn good addition to the F&F franchise.

Good points -
THAT fight... BRUTAL AS HECK.
The vehicle action seemed to be more real... rather than the CGI mess (IMHO) of the original two and some of the impacts during the bank vault sequence were ****ing brutal... they killed a **** load of people there.
The after credits sequence...(HUGE SPOILER HERE)
Having Eva Mendez's character return to tell the Rock's that there's another team out there... headed by Letty... didn't see that coming TBH... and it sets up a 6th movie with a bloody interesting story.
The twist with the binmen truck was cool... and unexpected.
Tyrese's Passport photo :awesome:

Not so good points -
Reyes... kinda weak.. never really got that he was a bad mofo as they kept on saying....now the dude who seemed to be his right hand man... now he seemed like a bad mofo..
a few of the twists were expected.... but i guess (Again no pun intended) that was expected.

9.5/10...

How is Letty coming back even possible? They freaking buried her!

I think I'm in the minority that liked 2 Fast 2 Furious as well as Tokyo Drift (mainly for Han). Too bad they couldn't get Devon Aoki to come back.

Does Han say anything about why he isn't in Tokyo like he said he'd be in F&F?

About the big spoiler.... i have no idea how they'll explain that.

and about Han... well, they did pull the team back from wherever the **** they were... so it's probable that he went out there, then got the call & drifted over...

The after-credits is bugging the crap out of me and the movie's not even out for us for another week.
My favorite scene in Fast & Furious is when Fenix is taunting Dom about Letty's death, and Dom looks like he's just about to start wailing on Fenix. Are they really gonna rob that scene, and the entire fourth movie, of its meaning? That just doesn't sit well with me.

Agreed! Don't **** with a good thing!

Don't know if this has ever been posted but it's pretty funny. [YT]3cjoHXezZMs[/YT]

Fast & Furious made $353 M worldwide. It was a hit. Fast Five off to a great start.

'Fast Five' Runs Over 'Thor 3D' In Australia
By NIKKI FINKE | Thursday April 21, 2011 @ 10:10am PDT

Well, this is a surprising start for the first two big films of Summer 2011. Marvel/Disney's Thor 3D distributor Paramount opened on Thursday in Down Under thinking its Norse God would steal Fast Five's thunder from Universal, which opened its street car racing pic the day before. Didn't happen. Day Two of Fast Five beat Thor by 38% -- $2.02 million U.S. dollars vs $1.5 million U.S. dollars -- even though both films are playing in the same number of theaters (220), Fast Five is only 2D so can't command the higher 3D ticket prices, and Thor's lead Chris Hemsworth is Australian. Universal is crowing that its Day 2 of Fast Five was ahead of Iron Man 2 and Spider-Man 3 and its cume there is now $4.43 million U.S. dollars. Meanwhile, also today, Fast Five's previews in Korea are running 34% bigger than Fast And Furious (the fourquel in the franchise). In North America, Fast Five opens April 29 and Thor on May 6.

That is genuinely mind boggling.

I understand the Fast series is big here but for it to be that far ahead of Thor which is playing in 3D for the most part is still amazing.

last year i started up a little blog... mostly just nattering about Formula 1 races, but this year i'm trying to branch out a little bit...

So here are some musings on Fast5

there are spoilers mentioned, but i've shied away from the HUGE one

Nice review Dr. Lee... i have a question though... is the blue Porsche actually used in the film? Huge Porsche enthusiast.

Thanks :D

there is a blue porsche in the movie...

This movie needs to hurry up and come out! I really want to know what's going on with Brian and Rome, seeing in 2fast their names were cleared.

'Fast Five' Now No. 1 In UK Previews, Also Tops Korea And New Zealand

Sequels do especially well overseas, and Universal's street car racing franchise is scoring. Thursday's previews Of Fast Five in the UK at 416 locations grossed an estimated $2.1 million in the first day. The pic is No. 1 with 46% market share. It's Universal's biggest Thursday previews in history and in the Top 8 Thursday previews of all time -- bigger than previews for Iron Man 1 and Iron Man 2 and The Bourne Ultimatum. Fast Five also opened in Korea today at 239 locations to become No. 1 with 35% market share - twice as big as the franchise's fourquel Fast & Furious with total previews grossing $570K. It's also No. 1 in New Zealand with 40% market share and an opening day gross of $260K at 55 locations. The total estimated grosses thus far including its No. 1 status in Australia are $7 million.

Well folks, expect an announcement of a sixth one soon.

Good...having seem Fast5.... they've put out a rather interesting hint at a 6th movie's plot....

There you go. This will get the green light once opening weekend hits in the U.S.

I've only got one thing to say about this film .... Vin Diesel is going to beat up The Rock? Pffffft, not in this lifetime. There's not a shred of a chance I could ever suspend my disbelief for that.
