The rest of the summer's contenders will consider themselves lucky to be frontloaded like this.
heh, exactly. I know it's not going to have good legs because of frontloading but I do hope that it has decent legs for a fifth in a frachise.

For the record, I hated the last movie.

Deserves every damn cent of that weekend take. Uni, get busy on F6. Let's go!

Wasn't bad movie and did like the getting away from 'street racing'. Though I still hope they use it to some degree in the next ones.
I'm kindof surpised they didn't bring back the one guy from Dom's crew from first movie besides Vince...Also,kindof surprised they didn't take more aspects of Han's movie and using 'drifting' some degree, plus surprised they didn't bring the one kid back from Tokyo Drift.
The movie did feel a little like Ocean's Eleven to some degree with the heist, bring back old friends etc..
*ending credit spoiler was alright.

they can't bring back the kid from tokyo drift because tokyo drift takes place after Fast 5, hence Han being alive and all.

8/10

Tokyo Drift
was my favorite one and now Lin topped himself with this one. Best in the franchise thus far. Never saw part 4 but the after credits sequence in this one tells me I'm not missing much. I'll wait on the eventual car shaped box set to watch that one.

Tyrese brings the best thing about 2 Fast to this one which was his blabbermouth. The Rock finally lives up to his big screen badass potential only took him about 10 years. The way he non chalantly ****s on spanish Phil Hartman was priceless. Loved the one street race we had just seeing all those characters revving up made me go "**** yeah". Loved Han's last line too since it implies Tokyo Drift will be pushed further back into the chronology and he will have a role in the next one. Can never have enough Han. Matter of fact it's time to go rewatch Better Luck Tomorrow.

I just wasn't interested in Tokyo. Still not.

Idk, for me, the original cast are what make this series worthwhile.

Your loss. Best races by far and awesome cars, great car stunts, Sonny Chiba, nice looking chicks, the coolness of Han. The only thing that somewhat brought it down at times was the generic Ski School like plot but the overall package works quite well.

Up to this point it was the only one in the franchise that I actually really liked. Mostly because it actually lived up to the promise of an emphasis on races and not races with cars only driving straightforward either. Which is what I expected from the original in the first place way back then.

I'm not a fan of racing so I'm happy that they mostly dumped that from Fast Five.

Agreed, if they need to add a racing scene just insert it as a cold opening like the James Bond movies do before the opening credits, I'm more of a car chase/crashing stuntwork type.

Glad you liked it but why didnt you want to see the 4th movie??

Yep.

BTW

My audience seemed to love the film.

I freakin loved it.

And yes, I'm shocked that I did. The movie knows exactly what it wants to be and it's that. It's an expensive 80's B-movie, nothing more and nothing less. I only dislike loud nonsensical films that think that they are serious and good and this movie didn't. It was in on the joke.

The characters were fun, the action was great and the plot, although thin, was pretty decent and the movie actually had pretty darn good pacing. It's just fun, fun, fun. I had a smile on my face almost the whole time. I laughed, I cheered and I clapped. Finally an action movie thats not about Superheros and that harkens back to the action movies of yester year.

I'm happy this movie did big numbers and I hope it has half way decent legs because it deserves it.

Rating: 8.5 or 9 out of 10

EDIT: Supposedly the Expendables cost 100mil to make and Fast Five cost 125mil (probably more like 150mil but I have no proof of that, I'm just guessing)

I felt exactly the same way, I had no intention of seeing this film but then the reports were coming back that it was awesome and they were right. I normally wouldn't look twice at a film like this based off the trailer.

I know a few people in my audience were pretty disappointed when they just cut to the end result.

eh,Maybe it'll be shown on dvd/blu-ray in a extended/director's cut or just a deleted scene!?!?

Glad you dug it JMC. I was just wondering what you thought about it but I forgot to pm you. The reviews did have a hand in me seeing it but the Rock and Vin fight had an even bigger hand.

It feels strange for me to enjoy a film like this because I usually don't but this one just knocked it out of the park.

I was genuinely shocked at how much I liked it. It's was so outrageously absurd and the final chase sequence was completely ludicrous, I seriously haven't had that much fun at a movie in years.

I just got back from a second viewing (maintee showing) and it was just as awesome as when I saw it last night. I was surprised it was sold out on a Sunday afternoon. People gasped and was like WTF at the cliffhanger end credits scene.

This is movie is just pure win easily the best movie the series. None of the previous movies come close to being better than Fast Five. And again I hear people in the crowd talking about Han bring alive. Like I said before Toyko Drift had some fun street races but it really dosent need to be canon.

Anywho, can't wait for Fast 6 and that end credits scene cliffhanger was just awesome. List of fast movies that I like the most to the least.

1. Fast Five
2. The fast and furious 1
3. 2 fast 2 furious
4. Tokyo drift
5. The fast and furious 4

Can't wait to get this on Blu ray!!

Tokyo drift takes place after 5&6

Yeah I'm shocked that it turned out so good after all being directed by the same guy that did Tokyo Drift and Fast & Furious.

It's already at $83.6 million damn that's a lot of money for what I believed was a dead franchise, looks like a 6th is on the way.

You thought 2 Fast 2 Furious was better then Fast & Furious??

Anyway for those people looking forward to Fast & Furious 6 what sort of cars are you wanting to see in it?

Yeah at one point they drifted with the safe attached "woo!!!".

That was one of the illest car chase setpieces I've seen in a while when it comes to the mainstream. **** the laws of physics when you can create that kind of awesome. I mean I'm not one to downtalk these type of movies in the first place though. Growing up some of my most watched movies were Commando, The Terminator, RoboCop and a lot of the Cannon films library like Platoon Leader & Invasion U.S.A.

As I got older I studied Fellini, Kubrick, Wells, Kurosawa, Leone, Corbucci ,Mel Brooks etc.

Truthfully I love ALL kinds of cinema period. As long as it's fine entertainment. One of the websites I frequent the most is oulawvern.com for this reason cause it follows my principles as a lover of films. I just ask for entertainment above everything else whether we're talking about My Left Foot, Evil Dead II or The Running Man all I ask is "engage me for a couple of hours". In that respect movies like Transformers & the second Pirates of the Carribbean just didn't cut it for me at all but this one just knocked it out the park.

My sister said it best. "It's going to be hard for any movie this summer to be as entertaining as Fast Five."

"Outrageously absurd" is the perfect way to discribe it. The final chase was amazing and I loved the train scene at the first part. The actors/team also had a ton of chemistry. The movie actually had stunts, something that we see too little of these days. Also, the Rock was a great addition to the cast.

Anyway for those people looking forward to Fast & Furious 6 what sort of cars are you wanting to see in it?

I liked the addition of Italian sports cars this go round so I want more of that. I also want a lot more American muscle next time too. Definitely take a break from the "ricers" for a bit.

Anyway my rank of the series excluding Fast & Furious since as I stated before I never saw it, would be

Fast Five
The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift
The Fast & The Furious
2 Fast 2 Furious

I don't think anybody ever expected the series to go all the way to a part 5 let alone for that part 5 to be the best but this movie delivered the goods.

People were literally saying holy **** when we saw Hobbs look at Lettys picture at the end. The only ****ed up thing about Letty being alive is she let Dom suffer all these years without saying anything. Is it safe to say the next one will take place in Berlin ? Han was heading to Berlin at the end & that is where Letty is. I am guessing Letty called Han to meet up with her for a job
