I just wasn't interested in Tokyo. Still not.

Idk, for me, the original cast are what make this series worthwhile.

I'd be disappointed as hell if TD was made non-canon.

I don't get the hate for TD. I really enjoyed that film. And it's really the last Furious film in it's old format. I love Lin's direction, the cinematography, the driving and stunts. The races/car action in TD trumped anything that was in 2Fast,which is still fun, I like it. But it's my least favorite. Han was such a great character. He really centered that film. I've grown to really appreciate TD over the years.

Lack of Vin Diesel probably.
That one remains the best of the franchise to this day
I agree i love Toyko Drift. When i first rented the DVD i was not sure what to expect and i was thinking this movie is probably going to be a piece of **** because theres no original cast member in it but ill give it a watch to see. When i was finished watching the film i was really surprised with how much i thought the film was awesome and id hate it if they took the movie out of F&F canon but i dont think they ever will. I would love to see a sixth film following on from Fast5 set in Europe dealing with the easter egg and then a seventh and final movie set after the events of Toyko Drift with Lucas Blacks character joining Doms crew.....
Why would you be disappointed? Tokyo Drift was meh.
Hey man not everybody has your opinion...

Its amazing how much slack a lot of people give to this franchise. Some talking about keeping Han alive, and the super unrealistic events in the film being cool and awesome.
Instead of all the confusion why don't they take Tokyo Drift out of the main fast and furious canon. I really disliked that movie and would rather it be a stand alone alternate fast and furious movie. It was easily the weakest one in the series and had nothing to do with the main cast of the series ( other than a short cameo by Vin). And the only reason he did that cameo was to do Fast 4.

I could see the film ending in 7. The 6th will be about the obvious easter egg in the ending credits. The 7th will reunite everyone for one last time. In reality these films will keep bringing in the dough, no matter what they do. I can easily see 3 more.
As much as I loved Fast Five I think a 7th movie would really be pushing it. I think they should stop after fast six at least with the main cast. I don't want these movies to become stale like what happened to the saw movies. I think they should go out with a bang in fast six and be done. Maybe a few years down the line reboot the franchise.

I hate Tokyo Drift and consider it the Halloween 3 of the FF series

This was the impression I had based purely on random marketing I was exposed to at the time and having not seen anything past the first movie. I was surprised to discover that it was connected with the rest of the series.

Just got back from seeing this, and it was better than expected. Overall a solid, entertaining flick. Haven't seen any of the FF movies since 2 Fast actually, should probably get around to seeing the other two.

The fight between Vin Diesel and The Rock has to be the best hand-to-hand fight ever put to film. Damn if that wasn't awesome, that was such a bad-ass fight. I recommend seeing the movie just for the fight! Man and the The Rock exuded bad-assness, it was definitely over-the-top but it was totally awesome too.

The extended chase at the end was totally awesome too. Don't want to give the details away but that also totally made the movie for me in the sheer over-the-top ridiculousness and the extended damage to buildings and road structures. :) I laughed every time a building or road structure got smashed, loved the way that kept playing up.

Both of the new female characters - the cop and the addition to Vin Diesel's team - were both cool, and hot too. The scene at the beach was totally awesome. :awesome: Anyone who's seen the movie knows what I'm talking about.

This movie totally made me want to visit Rio de Janeiro too. Made it look like a really scenic city.

Can anyone spoil the easter-egg scene after the credits? I didn't get to hang around after the credits.

Why did you go see the film without seeing the 4th before it? Also the new female addition to Doms crew is not that new after all, seen as she was a character introduced in the 4th movie, but you would know this if you had seen it before the 5th..........:oldrazz:
Also if you have not already seen the easter egg then i would not want to find out what it is about if you have not seen Fast & Furious because it would ruin a massive plot point of he 4th movie......

I'm not knocking your opinion, but you like the fight between vin and the rock over fight scenes like bruce lee vs. Chuck norris?

I just added the 3rd and 4th FF movies to my Netflix queue so I'll be catching up on them soon. :oldrazz: Thx for the info, guess I'll just watch the 4th movie first and find out about the easter-egg scene later.

Well it was certainly the best hand-to-hand fight that I can remember seeing at least. I also meant that it was the best beatdown-style fight that I've seen - excluding fights with martial arts because that's a whole other game. ;) Have never heard of a Bruce Lee vs Chuck Norris scene - will definitely have to look that one up.

No problem mate, you might not like Tokyo Drift but i really like it and Fast & Furious is a great movie.

:wow: MAN GO ADD WAY OF THE DRAGON TO NETFLIX NOW!!!! :wow:

Heh, just added it, thanks. :) If you have any other recs for movies with great fights, let me know.

This movie was truly awesome and not even in a low expectations yeild positive results kind of way. I thought the cast was pitch perfect. And the action was just so intense and awesome.

I know everyone has their own opinion and that's cool if you liked Tokyo Drift. My point is that it's not nesscary in the main fast and the furious canon. The story has nothing to do with Brian or Dom or any of the other main cast in fast five ( except for Han). I mean if Han was a starring character like Dom then yea TD would be important. But alas Han is just a supporting character a good one at that. The races were cool in Tokyo Drift but I didn't care about the story or the characters ( besides Han and bow wow was okay). When I rest saw it the movie just feel like a random movie using the fast and furious tagline to get cash.

I don't really understand why fans insist on Tokyo drift being in the main story canon sinces it not really related to the original storyline. I quess the street racing and Han are the only reasons I can think of.

The four way squad car race is what took me back to it and made say, "this is a Fast and Furious movie."

saw it, quite liked it. It's a blu-ray buy for me. And I think Tokyo Drift is better than 1 2 and 4.

This is what an expendables film should/could have been.

-I felt more fan appreciation for each of these characters than anyone in expendables
-I felt more energy and awesomeness and set up from the fight in this than anything in expendables..

-Justin Lin for the next Expendables

I agree. I liked expendables but there are no memorable fight scenes or action scenes really. The Rock/ Diesel fight lived up to the hype and then some. It had everyone on the edge of their seat. Yea expendables had alot of action stars the movie but they really didn't have much to do. The entire fast five crew gets the moment to shine. But Tyresse/ Roman really stole every scene he was in lol.

Yeah, I coulda done with 1 or 2 more races. I'd have liked to see Dom race for that blue Porsche

Fast Five OW $83,630,000
http://boxofficemojo.com/weekend/chart/
Fast Five opened first overseas 10 days ago and this weekend grossed a huge $45.3M at 3,211 dates in just 14 territories. That raised its early international tally to $81.4M. So now the worldwide total stands at a whopping $165M. The pic opened No. 1 in each of the 10 new markets. The openings are bigger than all the previous Fast franchise films and far ahead of Marvel/Disney's Thor, which Paramount has opened head-to-head against Fast Five in 12 markets but not in the U.S. and Canada until next Friday. Even rival studios say Fast Five is on track for a $300M foreign and $500M worldwide finish.

Fast five had a huge budget. I dont think the expendables budget was anywhere near that.

I freakin loved it.

And yes, I'm shocked that I did. The movie knows exactly what it wants to be and it's that. It's an expensive 80's B-movie, nothing more and nothing less. I only dislike loud nonsensical films that think that they are serious and good and this movie didn't. It was in on the joke.

The characters were fun, the action was great and the plot, although thin, was pretty decent and the movie actually had pretty darn good pacing. It's just fun, fun, fun. I had a smile on my face almost the whole time. I laughed, I cheered and I clapped. Finally an action movie thats not about Superheros and that harkens back to the action movies of yester year.

I'm happy this movie did big numbers and I hope it has half way decent legs because it deserves it.

Rating: 8.5 or 9 out of 10

EDIT: Supposedly the Expendables cost 100mil to make and Fast Five cost 125mil (probably more like 150mil but I have no proof of that, I'm just guessing)

The rest of the summer's contenders will consider themselves lucky to be frontloaded like this.

Hearing how great this film is really makes me want to see this film.

It's so surprising to me that it took five films for this series to get reviews as great as the ones I've seen.

And I'm really happy that it had strong opening numbers.

If only I wasn't buried knee deep in thesis paper bull****.
