Louie, I was confused on the whole brian on the run thing. He cleared his name on 2 fast and they reinstated him (the reinstatement thing solves my problem) in fast and furious.

All in all the fast and the furious was a great franchise. 3 outta 5 good films (the 4th is ehhh)ain't bad.

So I enjoyed the flick (mostly because of Dwayne and Han), but I had one problem.
Dom picks up a wrench and is about to smash the Rock over the head with it and the Rock's men just stand there and watch? Damn, no wonder why they all died. Also the prison escape was a little much. No injuries? Jesus must be on their side as well.

i really enjoyed myself with this one. non-stop action, surprisingly funny, and very entertaining.

i overlooked a ton of plot holes, odd pacing, and questionable character decisions, but one thing bugged me: dom somehow getting the upper hand on hobbs in their fight. what a joke.

i rate it a solid 7/10.

one thing i started to think about is if toretto is the best driver in the film series (all signs point to that), does that make johnny tran as good and respected as him? i mean in the first movie, i don't believe they ever raced head to head, and the word was they were very evenly matched. no one since then has challenged toretto, except for maybe brian.

Do people not realize that the prison break took place, like months before Fast Five?

That is why Dom is not with Brian and Mia, when they first get to Rio. Dom was probably hurt. But got better.

Also, The Rock tells his men not to get involved in the fight with Dom. Or did you not hear The Rock say, "I got this!"

Great movie I enjoyed this and last one.

Good to see
Eva Mendes in the end. I didn't expect her to be in it

So when they report back to their superiors they're going to say
Well, we let him get his head smashed in with a wrench cause he said "I got this" sir. I totally thought he had it too and then wham! Brains all over the place. I enjoyed the movie, but come on, they would've made swiss cheese out of Dom the moment he brought that wrench up. The Rock did tell them he beat a man to death with a wrench.

So I got back from seeing Fast Five. It's probably the most absurdly awesome film I've seen in years. Yeah the story is pretty ordinary with plot holes left, right and centre that are big enough to drive a mach truck through, but the action is so breathtakingly thrilling and ear drum busting loud it more than makes up for it. It's fun, fast, hilarious, and ends with one of the most ludicrously staggering chase sequences I've ever seen, quite possibly the highlight of the year so far for me.

I was actually surprised at how solid the acting was, not award winning stuff but everyone does well and keeps a straight face whilst doing it, Diesel is his usual self, Paul Walker does his thing, Jordana Brewster is, well hot, the Rock is a bit of a caricature but **** it, he's The Rock. Having only watched the first film in the series I can only assume that the characters who team up with the originals are from the other entries in the series, they were all second fiddle though, the moment you're waiting for is when cinemas two biggest bad-arses start bashing the crap out of each other.

Overall, I can see why people are raving about this, it's not award winning material, it's not gonna change cinema, it doesn't deliver some profound message, but I couldn't imagine a better way to kick off the blockbuster season. Somehow life has been found in a franchise that for all intense and purposes should have died years ago, and I can't see them stopping after this, it's just so damn entertaining.

A solid 7/10 from me.

Anybody else's audience let out that collective gasp when
Hobbs flips open the file doc and sees Letty's picture?
Got applause last night at mine.

Good news! Love Universal having a hit as well. They take enough risks that they deserve it.

At least we get to see the prison break. I remember people getting pissed off with how Fast & Furious ended without the prison break. In fact they should now re edit in the prison break scene into Fast & Furious on a future DVD re release & then on the DVD start Fast Five where Rio starts :woot:

Is it really risky though? I'd say it's more confidence in the franchise and the audience, they've essentially stolen pole position for the blockbuster season by saying 'You know what? We're kicking things off this year'. Pretty ballsy, it kinda proves you can release big franchises outside the normal blockbuster season and still earn cash.

Whats the point of that???

One thing I don't get.

All the characters were/are still wanted at the end. It looked like Luda's garage was in America though

Jurisdiction, maybe. Or they looked the other way when they found out about the villain's shady dealings.

I thought they were only included in the wanted warrents as a means to get Dom, Brian & Mia.....

and don't forget, only Dom & Brian could be classed as being involved with Hobbs & the police chick in the Bank heist.... the others weren't really involved...

'Technically'

I mean with other risks they have taken. "Paul" "Scott Pilgrim" ect. They always seem to be the studio taking more risks than the others.

Saw this in IMAX yesterday. GODDAMN it was awesome. I'd go see it again in a heartbeat. My only complaint (and its a little one) is how goofy Hobbs was. He was so macho that it came across as kinda funny (which might have been their intention). Other than that I absolutely loved it and I'd place it among the best in the franchise!!!!

o ok.....so you don't like that he was reinstated?

Well technically Hobbs grabbed the wrench 1st and started going after dom,dom just picked it up in the heat of the moment why would they interfere if at 1st their boss had the wrench?...I loved how they put that in there....really shows how much doms character has grown

they were corrupt though....

Yeah...and then he (and Mia) broke Dom out of the prison bus.

I don't understand how you overlooked that. It's the opening scene of the movie!

Loved it! This was a very good film. I wouldn't mind seeing it again.
