Favorite Batman movie villain OTHER THAN THE JOKER?

He's definitely not "Nolan's Riddler".

Which is kind of a shame, because I feel both Riddler and Penguin are the two villains that would've actually worked well in Nolan's world. Oh well....

Of course he isn't the Riddler as Nolan didn't want to do the Riddler so he gave us Coleman Reese instead. The same thing with John Blake (Robin), Anna Ramirez (Renee Montoya) and Jen (Holly Robinson).

Making Victor Zsasz a Falcone thug.. that's about equal to making Bane a henchman of Poison Ivy.

That is untrue. Victor Zsasz is a C list villain who doesn't have half the prominence and status that Bane had in 1997.

Coleman Reese was not a Riddler substitute.

Well Zsasz not only pre-dates Bane by one year, but he also had a cameo in a film plus he was in the Arkham games. You still say he is C list? I have never even heard of Stirk, and I'm a massive Batman fan. You must be talking about some obscure character from the comics.

None of that means anything really. The Rhino has been in nearly every Spider-Man game ever made, he had a role in the latest Spider-Man movie, and he pre dates several major Spider-Man villains like Venom and the Hobgoblin by decades. He's still a C list villain for Spider-Man. Just like Zsasz. When a villain appeared doesn't matter. It's how they're used. That's why Bane out ranks many notable Batman villains that came years before him.

If you are a big Batman fan then you know who Stirk is since he was in big Batman storylines like Knightfall.

Stirk's only had 2 main appearances in the comics. That's less than Crazy Quilt or Polka Dot man. Yeah, he was in a famous issue, that gives him a little more cred, but not much.

As for Rhino, he's got to be up there with Spiderman's main rogues now, having a major appearance in a blockbuster movie. It's like how Bane was truly elevated into the mainstream with Batman and Robin.

I'd say Zsasz is b-list. He's popular enough to be in Batman Begins plus the Arkham games, Batman: Dark Tomorrow, Lego Batman and DC Universe online. Plus, he's had more appearances in the comics.

It's not the quantity it's the quality. Like Bane had only one major appearance in the comics and the BTAS people gave him a whole episode in the show to himself one year after he appeared in the comics. Why didn't Zsasz get that from them? The reason for that is what Bane did in Knightfall. He broke Batman. He made a big impact. He did something so big that no Batman villain had ever done.

Zsasz, like Stirk, has not done anything that elevates him as a high ranking Batman villain. He's a C-list villain. Like the Rhino, and he's had more exposure than Zsasz has. His status has not elevated just because he appeared in TASM 2 or any number of video games because he's treated just like he is in the comics. A dumb meat head who's good for action scenes.

They're not going to put a villain like Zsasz in a cartoon for kids. But no, he'll never be a main villain like Bane. Bane is A list. Zsasz is B list. Stirk is C list.

Again, you can't compare Zsasz and Stirk because Zsasz has had more appearances in the comics and appearances outside of the comics.

I don't know much about Rhino as I'm not too familiar with Spiderman's rogues gallery.

They put Carnage in the Spider-Man animated series, and he's just like Zsasz in that he's a serial killer who just lives to kill. Same with the video games. Zsasz doesn't kill anyone in the Arkham games. At least he's not shown to.

I don't count the number of appearances as a significance to the status of the villain. I mean it's like implying that because Catwoman and Scarecrow have appeared in more movies than the Joker, they're more important than him in Batman's rogues gallery. It's how they are used that counts. Villains like Bane, Zsasz and Rhino are proof of that I think. Bane is several rungs up the ladder to Zsasz and a lot of other Batman villains who have been around years before him, and been in more games and live action appearances than him.

C list villains like Zsasz and Stirk are good to use as side characters in stories to fill a small role because there's not much to their characters. They're practically plot devices. In Spider-Man's it's ones like Rhino and Shocker.

TDKR Bane, followed closely by TDK Two Face and then BB Ra's, BB Scarecrow, BR Catwoman, TDKR Talia and then the rest I don't like.
