I don't know what Giuliani was thinking saying the stuff he said in that interview, but I bet Trump is pissed.

I think Michael Avenatti might be the luckiest lawyer who ever lived.

Are we sure there wasn't some kind of deliberate plan behind this? Is Giuliani really that stupid?

I mean, he also admitted that the travel ban was a Muslim ban, so...

I've been wondering if Giuliani has some kind of senior mental problems. Something feels really off about him(besides being a ****** human being).

Reposting from the North Korea thread, speaking of Nobel Peace prize...

Here we have Moon playing Trump(et):
Trump Should Win The Nobel Peace Prize, South Korea's Moon Says
https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo...the-nobel-peace-prize-south-korea-s-moon-says
Moon was responding to a letter from the wife of former South Korean President Kim Dae-jung — a leader who won a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts at making peace with North Korea. The letter said Moon deserves a Nobel for his progress this time around with the North, triggering Moon's mention of Trump.
"It's President Trump who should receive the Nobel Prize. We only need to take peace," Moon said, as translated by NPR's Korean interpreter Se Eun Gong.
(...)
The South Korean leader also has diplomatic reasons to keep Trump aligned with his goals for peace on the peninsula: Moon told his Cabinet he'd like to see South Korea "actively operate the trilateral channel for dialogue between the North and the U.S.," signaling Seoul will continue to play a mediating role as Pyongyang and Washington make their way toward their bilateral summit.

And here we have Republican opportunism at its finest:
House Republicans nominate Donald Trump for Nobel peace prize
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/may/02/donald-trump-nobel-peace-prize
Although the letter copiously praises Trump’s “maximum pressure” campaign and says there is “no one more deserving of the Committee’s recognition in 2019 than President Trump for his tireless work to bring peace to our world”, there may be political motivations at play as well.

Messer, a three-term incumbent from south-eastern Indiana, is in a ferocious three-way primary next week for the Republican nomination for the US Senate. One of the main bones of contention between him and his two main opponents, the congressman Todd Rokita and the businessman Mike Braun, is over which candidate is most dedicated to supporting Trump. The winner faces the Democratic incumbent, Joe Donnelly, in a state that Trump won by 19 points in 2016.

Four other Republican Senate hopefuls have signed the letter. Neither Kevin Cramer of North Dakota nor Marsha Blackburn faces competitive primaries in their fight to win competitive Senate seats in red states, but two others do.

Evan Jenkins of West Virginia signed the letter, as did Jim Renacci of Ohio. Both face competitive primaries next week in state won by Trump with incumbent Democrats. Other signatories include Mark Meadows of North Carolina, who leads the hard-right Freedom Caucus, and Steve King of Iowa, who has long praised far-right anti-immigration figures in European politics, such as Geert Wilders.

By the way, the finest people in there.

Finally, a reality check:
Trump winning a Nobel peace prize for North Korea ‘idiotic’, Q&A told
https://www.theguardian.com/austral...l-peace-prize-for-north-korea-idiotic-qa-told
Gessen, famously critical of Russian leader Vladimir Putin, summed it up thus: “Well if Trump’s claiming complete success [then] let’s give him the Nobel peace prize.
“Come on, he has tweeted insults and now we’re supposed to think that has made an actual policy difference in the world? How idiotic is that conversation,” she said.
(...)
Tur, who covered the Trump campaign in the lead-up to the 2016 election and is in Australia for the Sydney writers’ festival, agreed to be the “idiot of the bunch” by indulging the idea.
But she said it was a mistake to ascribe too much motive to the president who “operates in a moment-to-moment basis”.

“I think it’s a little ridiculous to ascribe a madman strategy to him, I don’t think he intended to keep people off balance and that’s his big negotiating tactic,” she said.

China is no longer buying the bulk of it's soy beans from the U.S due to the trade tariff war.

China is apparently no longer buying U.S. soybeans amid the rise in trade tensions, Bloomberg reported Wednesday.

"Whatever they're buying is non-U.S.," Soren Schroder, CEO of New York-based Bunge, the world's largest oilseeds processor, told the news outlet in a phone interview. "They're buying beans in Canada, in Brazil, mostly Brazil, but very deliberately not buying anything from the U.S."

China canceled a net 62,690 metric tons of U.S. soybean purchases in the two weeks ended April 19, the Bloomberg article pointed out, citing USDA data for the current marketing year.

The country is the second largest market for U.S. agricultural exports, and soybeans have historically have been one of the top products sold to the Asian giant, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service.

The United States produced 3.29 billion bushels of soybeans in 2013. Eleven (11) states produced over 125 million bushels of soybeans in 2013: Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Indiana, Nebraska, Ohio, Missouri, South Dakota, Arkansas, North Dakota & Kansas.

I will never understand how anyone thinks that Trump is a good businessman. His strategy is 'Use money and force to make them see my way or destroy them if I can'. That doesn't and has never really worked in world politics. His trade war BS proves he has zero alternatives to his one move.

Good God, it looks like Trump actually sanctioned Giuliani's verbal diarrhea last night.

He's a pretend-mobster so it shouldn't be all that surprising. He clearly watched the Godfather one too many times.

That's how high-end billionaire d*ckbag business is done though, especially in NYC. Of course he's that way. Wouldn't surprise me if he's had actual dealings with for-really-real mobsters, either, comes with the territory.

Half the country doesn't care though, for whatever it's worth.

Which is EXACTLY what was predicted.

Well, Wilbur Ross said the little people had to accept some pain. I hope the farm workers that voted for this nonsense are willing to give up putting money into their kid's college funds and be fine with not having as much to spend on healthcare, housing and other goods and services. Brazil and other countries are just fine with this "America first" BS as it just places more cash into their economies.

This is precisely what happens when you are ill informed about the way the world actually works and you place more importance on your irrelevant and silly resentments over rationale and practical policy.

Giuliani follows up disastrous Hannity appearance with equally damaging Fox & Friends spot

On Thursday morning, Giuliani first said that the payment was to protect the Trump family from a “six year old, false allegation” that Donald Trump had had an extramarital affair.

“If we had to defend this as not being a campaign contribution, I think we could do that,” he said. “This is for personal reasons. The was the president had been hurt personally, not politically, personally so much — and the first lady — by some of the false allegations. That one more false allegation six years old, I think [Cohen] was trying to help the family. For that he’s treated like some kind of villain.”

Giuliani added that the $130,000 payment was “to save not so much their marriage, as much as their reputation.”

But then moments later, Giuliani noted the political reason for the payment. “Imagine if that came out of October 15, 2016, in the middle of the last debate with Hillary Clinton…” he said. “Cohen made it go away. He did his job.”

And on Twitter Trump admitted the payments but denied the affair :loco:

Since everyone pays money to women to keep them silent about affairs that never happened...

That's why I was wondering if it was actually some sort of ploy.....

Did he try to square this with the public comments about how Cohen payed out of pocket for this? Also, I thought I read somewhere Cohen complaining about mortgaging a house to get the cash, which I don't know if it's true but if so was just weird seeing how he himself is also quite wealthy.

At this point there's so much going on in the press that the average laymen can't follow anymore, any additional information only confuses and obfuscates things more. Trump would probably sanction it because it contributes to the information overload considering his various departures from ethical behavior.

Where things are probably failing is behind the scenes where God knows how many lawyers regarding Mueller and Avenatti are building their cases because research and sifting through this mess is their job.

Also, building on that:

They just assume that because he's supposedly rich that he knows what he's doing. They might benefit from a closer look. :(

If that's the plan it's certainly working. All this is hurting my brain. :(

The public isn't quite as important as the legal teams, it's not hurting their brains and they're probably finding golden nuggets of evidence in all these recent revelations. It's just going to take a while to all shake out.

I certainly hope so. :p

The f...

So having to defend the payments as not a campaign contribution means thats where the money came from, right? Because that is a world of difference than Trump using his own money.

EDIT: Upon further reading, I may have mistook what the campaign violation was from. Stupid complicated laws...
