Trump calls Romney a ‘pompous a--’ after criticism for appeals to China, Ukraine

Three things have happened with Trump's presidency. First, I have a new respect for Romney. Second, I have a respect for Sheppard Smith and Chris Wallace. Lastly, I'm voting Democrat next election.
Ah, Romney's forgetting that time he sold Trump his soul in exchange for not criticizing him, as seen in that Twilight Zone episode known as life.

Whether they do the right thing here or not, I’m not going to trust or feel sorry for any Republican Congressperson for a very long time. You don’t get points for turning on Trump now; you knew exactly what he was when you were defending him from anything and everything less than 2 weeks ago.

The problem isn't validating the whistleblower's complaint. The problem is they need to find a direct correlation between Trump holding the funds for Ukraine's military support and him asking the Ukrainian president to investigate Biden. That's the one thing Republicans refuse to back down from even in the face of all this evidence. There is no direct quid pro quo. There is nothing explicit.

That picture really does have Academy Award-winning cinematography levels of perfect lighting.

Also Trump looks evil as **** and Romney is doing that awkward “this is fine” pained smile like he knows how much he just prostrated himself.

Getting Taylor in and asking him under oath why he certainly thought the money was being held to pressure Ukraine. That would be a start.

First I'd ask what happened in the call after he asked if that was the deal. Second I'd ask why he later stated that was indeed the deal.

Given Taylor was the one spilling the beans I'd get to him first. Sondland should be called too but he seems a bit craftier. One thing id go for though is asking why he needed over 4 hours to respond to Taylor's comment. They were trading messages in seconds in real time until that bomb dropped.

Hours later he messages back with overtly careful wording a lawyer would be proud of.

Are you kidding? That's not the problem. The problem is Republicans are corrupt to the core. First of all, no, you don't need an explicit reference to quid pro quo. The dumbest person on the planet is smart enough to not explicitly blackmail someone like that. It's clear in the memo. Second, you think if we actually had that very specific evidence, they wouldn't move the goal post immediately? Let's be clear here: there is absolutely NOTHING that will convince Republicans to turn on Trump. There's no point in thinking "Gosh, if we just had more evidence, then people would be convinced." It's not going to happen. They've invested everything in him, and short of Nuclear War, they're sticking with him.

I don't think it would matter how explicit it would be. The Republicans will fall silent or outright deny it.

Well then there's zero point in having this discussion at all. The Dems will have this inquiry and the Reps won't vote in favor of impeachment.

We just have to convince enough to vote. Most of the Republicans will be against it, but if it is true that 35 would vote to impeach than there's a chance. It really comes down who cares about the country more than party... also Chuck Schumer needs his ass replaced.

It's worth it to at the very least show the American people and history that we attempted to hold a corrupt President accountable, which to me is much better than throwing our hands up and saying "Whelp, nothing we can do." Doing absolutely nothing would be worse.

Oh, and the greatest negotiator of all time gave NK a ton of free press and the prestige and in return got.....nothing. Great job you orange sphincter.

It’s all going to be about political expedience for the republicans. When it’s clear that their careers will be better off without Trump their votes will follow.
