Big corporations are putting the pressure on to impeach and remove Trump really by pulling the funding plug.

Their nutjob voter base may be mostly against it but rich contributors are bailing out.

Stupid question: How likely is it that Trump will run again in 2024? Is conviction likely now?

It’s looking like with Turtle being in on impeaching, this will go through... maybe some more reasonable (I almost choked) Republicans can use this as a “get out of jail” card with President KFC.

If the Senate bans him after impeachment & conviction (takes only a >50% majority) he can't take office ever again. So there's that pathway.
First thing's first, the Senate needs to vote to convict before 1/20, and that one requires 2/3 majority.

Depends on if the Senate acts within the next 7 days.
I don't "think" the senate has to act before inauguration. Not 100% sure though. I think impeachment has to.

This is where it gets confusing.

It's my understanding that they can only vote to disqualify Trump if they vote to remove him first. Which obviously they can't do if he's already out of office.

If that's the case, 7 days to convict, remove, and disqualify.

The precedent being that the 25th ammendment could be used to remove an unstable president from office. How is that a "terrible precedent".

Feels like the momentum is really building.

Am I jumping the gun here by saying this feels like the walls are actually closing in on Trump
