The family sure doesn't show much in the way of fear. A lot of blank expressions and silence.

Casually Concerned About The Walking Dead
Lol, a couple more zombie kills might take care of that. :p

I know it's nothing special and might sound really mundane but I like the part when the other family had their conversation in spanish. I hope I see more authentic moments like that. I want see more stuff and interaction on that level...it just makes it real.

I hope we get some African-American and Korean American characters....then it will really fee like L.A.

Really enjoying this show.

Loved the obviously distressed airplane.

So the boyfriend is a dumbass. He is irrationally afraid of a gun, but didn't hesitate to wrestle with a dead person that was eating the neighbor's dog and threatening his family. Then he gets pissy because someone had the common sense to stop the walker.

"Everything's going to be fine. Everything is going to get better. Everything is going to be better now."

No, it's not you fool.

I mean, that drive by the hospital should have been everything he needed to see to realize that this stuff has gone way past the point of being ok. The building was smoking, the cops were unloading on a patient, who kept coming at them, like a trooper, despite being shot in the chest six times... Tough to rationalize that as a minor hiccup.

Just watched the third episode.

I'm glad it didn't take too long for this show to get going. I didn't care for the first episode, but I've really enjoyed the others so far. Everything is hitting the fan, and the show is making all of the right notes to showcase that.

This show is getting better and better with each episode. The poor dog! They really can't survive this apocalypse especially with how dumb these humans are. :argh:

The animals are always the first to know.

Everyone except the fat boy on this show is to stupid to live..period

I like the barber guy and his wife. Everyone else can get bit or eaten, including his daughter. When she called "poppa" it came off so forced and fake. Like she was trying to say it in Spanish but came out in a mixture.

Anyway, everyone is annoying me in that show. I still like it and will continue to watch it, just wish they didn't have a bunch of Loris and Andreas on that show.

I like Ruben Blades character, the barber. The zombie epidemic doesn't seem to faze him much. I can tell he's experienced somewhat similar circumstances with him being from a dangerous country as El Salvador. Based on that he already knows the outcome of this epidemic. And he knows what it takes to survive unlike Travis and his extended family. As well as that "good people are always the first to die" in these situations. He'll probably be FTWD's version of Herschel/Dale as the older wise one of the group.

I agree that the characters are still pretty bland, but it's the "situational stuff" in the show that makes it fun for me to watch now. It's cool to see the riots, it's cool to see martial law go into effect, it's cool to see the transition phase from a civilized society to a nonexistent one. The first episode was a chore for me to sit through because it was so character-driven. Episodes 2 and 3 have been more about society as a whole, which I've found to be a lot more interesting.

I know... I hate when they kill animals, especially dogs and cats to show just how bad/evil things can get. That is the laziest, most cliched way to make an emotional impact. Let's kill someone's pet to show just how terrible this is. Yeah, we already get it when we see zombies literally eating someone's face. No need to throw in a defenseless animal to reinforce that.

And it also does show how utterly stupid and ignorant or in denial some people can be. The neighbor was eating the dog (and this is after seeing all the other zombie stuff going on) and the guy still wants to believe the zombie is merely "sick" and can be treated (another pre-penitentary Hershel), as if there was a way to come back from that.

Most of the people on this show are so bland and uninteresting. The barber and the drug addict of all people are the only ones who seem to be remotely interesting and that's only because how often do you see a strung out junkie survive this long into anything? Usually they are among the first to go. And the barber is a man who has the grim mindset of someone who has seen true atrocity and reluctantly does what is necessary.

That said I do like everything else going on in the show for the most part. This world doesn't have zombie mythology so the dead walking is a new thing to them and for the most part people seem to be reacting to that like they would if it were to really happen and no one had any idea what the hell a zombie was.

Of course it would be nice if they were to pick up the clues just a tad faster, like the barber, Daniel Salazar. He is practical even if he doesn't understand yet what is going on but sure as hell knows this isn't going to be okay. Salazar knows the situation is getting uglier and nastier by the minute. But he's also stuck with a family of otherwise boring zombie chow.

If anyone in this group is going to be the new Daryl, I expect it to be him. Hopefully no one turns into a early season Carl, although right now it feels like we've got a half dozen of them on our hands.

My only consolation is that at least the dog wasn't captured by non-zombie humans who made a meal out of him. :( Leave the cute animals alone! :argh:

Mr. Salazar is awesome. His pride (or his family) might get him killed but I like how he is not having any of this emotional crap that the others pulling. I literally laughed out loud when he called the rest weak. :hehe:

Also, Maddy > Travis. I predict Travis to be the Lori of this show. :wow:

I like the barber. Hope he's here to stay for a long while. Travis could learn a thing or two from him. Damn he was annoying this episode.

Watching the world fall apart is fun. Watching this family doing dumb things, not so much.

I feel these characters aren't reacting properly to the dead frickin' walking around. They're spooked when attacked, but other than that, they're just blasé about them.

When are people going to learn about shutting doors behind them?

I was thinking "close the door you idiots". You know that terrible things are going on outside and you leave the door open

Travis’ white truck not being upside down and on fire is a minor miracle.

The hospital scene and the lights going out give you a great idea of the scale of the trouble which is something a show like The Strain struggles to do.

I don't know why Nick, Madison and Alicia didn't go through the front door instead of back through the garden maze to warn Travis.

Barber Daniel Salazar was the MVP of the episode. I knew something would happen to the barber's wife. I would of been shoving anyone in my way to the ground.

Travis is still in 'it's all going to be ok mode'. Nick and Madison are adjusting to the reality.

I'm guessing in their universe, no one had ever made a zombie movie, lol. If this sort of thing happened in real life here, too many of us would be clamoring about who got the "Zombie Kill of the Day". lol. :p

Kirkman has said as much.

And to be fair about the dog, wasn't the last one out the door the one that knew the least about what was going on?

It was unnecessary for all 3 of them to go into that house. Two people were enough, imo. Alicia should've stayed home and kept watch in case Travis showed up, which he did. Also I thought Alicia lost the bullet shells, but the next morning Daniel had 'em explaining to Chris what kind to use with that specific rifle.

Travis’ white truck not being upside down and on fire is a minor miracle.

Yep. That was very convenient.

There is no zombie fiction in Kirkman's universe but there is probably stuff like Rabies or Bath salt lunatics.

Characters are far less cautious than they would be in real life in the show for plot reasons.
