The Walking Dead: More Stuff and Thaaaangs.

Have it take place in L.A. Where survivors are living in a football stadium until a massive earthquake tears down half the stadium causing the surviors to panic and seperate from their family as they are trying to escape the dead.

When a show is the number one show in the 18-49 demo, the king of ratings measurements, then you make a spinoff. 16 million live viewers on cable, you make a spinoff. Especially when AMC owns the TV Walking Dead franchise as well.

A spinoff in Texas could offer something visually different.

Great in concept, failed in ratings and cancelled by the end of the first season? I hope not.

On a more serious note I don't want it to have any direct connection to the existing group until much later if they connect at all. It would put them in the same geographical location and as we've seen, it's slow going for them so to really make this series stand out it has to be located in another region.

Well Fox moved it to Fridays where ratings dropped after moving it from Sundays. The show that replaced TLG got even lower ratings.

Or Albuquerque. :awesome:

Texas, where we fight zombie cattle.

It's the Fox curse. They like to doom shows to imminent death in that time slot.

Personally, Id love to see it set in LA. :)

I want to see it set in Washington...or Tokyo.

I might be in the minority here but I would love to see Lee and Clementine appear on this or the current series.

Walking Dead Spin-Off: Meet the Survivors (Including a New 'Andrea')!
By Michael Ausiello

Good news for starving zombies everywhere: There’s fresh meet on the way!

On the heels of AMC officially placing a pilot order for its Walking Dead spin-off, er, companion project, TVLine has obtained fresh intel about the six principal characters populating the potential series. And they are:

SEAN CABRERA | A Latino male in his early 40s, Sean is a good man trying to do right by everyone in his life.

CODY CABRERA | Sean’s whip-smart and rebellious teenage son. Known as the angriest kid in town.

NANCY TOMPKINS | A thirtysomething single mom to two kids, Nancy looks like the girl next door, but there’s an edge to her.

NICK TOMPKINS | Nancy’s screwed up teenage son. He’s too old to stay home, too scared to flee.

ASHLEY TOMPKINS | Nancy’s mostly level-headed teenage daughter. Her ambition is in direct proportion to her older brother’s failures. She loves her mom but it’s time to get out of Dodge.

ANDREA CHAPMAN | A somewhat wilted flower child, fortysomething Andrea — yep, another Andrea! — has retreated to the outskirts of the city to recover after a horrible marriage.

AMC has promised that TWD: 2.0 will shed light on a new, previously unseen corner of the zombie apocalypse — perhaps one where the living outnumber the undead.

As TVLine previously reported, there’s buzz that the offshoot — penned by showrunner Dave Erickson and TWD creator Robert Kirkman — will be a prequel of sorts, one that would chronicle the early days of the epidemic and the effort to contain it.

An AMC rep declined to comment or confirm anything beyond ordering the pilot.
That's three too many teen characters. :o

I wonder if Andrea will be more Andrea then Andrea ever was

Forgive me, but this won't have ties to the main series correct? I rather they not tie-in or make reference to the main series.

Considering it takes place in a very different location than TWD does, I wouldn't assume there would be any ties. It can't really be a Frasier-type spinoff where it's like "Hey, Glenn and Maggie move to California and open their own pizzaria!" or anything like that. With the exception of Morgan (and we know where he probably is) and that family in the first season, everyone is either dead or still with the group. Oh, and Beth too. But I'm sure she'll be in one category or the other by midseason.

don't want a prequel, :csad: But a Latino lead would be great, too bad Jimmy Smits is probably too old for what their looking for but be sweet in the role.

a Latino male lead. cool. what's Benjamin Pratt up to nowadays? He's still in his 40's, right?

NANCY TOMPKINS | A thirtysomething single mom to two kids, Nancy looks like the girl next door, but there’s an edge to her.

a MILF with skills.

CODY CABRERA | Sean’s whip-smart and rebellious teenage son. Known as the angriest kid in town.

That's a lot of teen drama in the making.

interesting. if that holds, then they won't interact with the cast from the original series in a present format. if the series doesn't work out. they can end it with all the characters getting turned and getting put down by the original characters later down the road. kind of like the webi-sode that explained the half walker Rick puts down in the pilot.

Frank Dillane & Alicia Debnam Carey Cast In ‘The Walking Dead’ Companion Series
by Nellie Andreeva

Frank Dillane and Alicia Debnam Carey have been cast in the pilot for The Walking Dead companion series at AMC, created by Robert Kirkman, on whose graphic novel The Walking Dead was based, and Dave Erickson. Adam Davidson will direct.

The untitled Walking Dead spinoff, aka Cobalt, takes place during the same zombie apocalypse depicted on The Walking Dead but in a different location. It revolves around a male divorced teacher and a female guidance councilor. WME-repped Dillane (Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince) plays the woman’s son, who has battled a drug problem. Aussie Debnam Carey, repped by UTA, plays the woman’s ambitious daughter.

This is the second consecutive pilot in which AMC has cast Debnam Carey; she also was in Galyntine. She made her American movie debut with this summer’s Into the Storm.

AMC Studios is producing.

Hollywood Reporter says they were looking at Anna Torv for the female lead, but she's out of the running now. :csad:
