It is a condensed version of TWD right down to the same mistakes being repeated over and over again. I don't know if I will bother to return to the show in August since we've already seen what's going to happen.

You'll be back. :o and so will I. :( This show had so much potential but it's like they didn't learn from TWD. But one can only hope they get better as time goes on though. They really need better characters though. Most of the characters on this show are just plain unlikable.

Not definitely. I'm still not coming back for TWD's next season and nothing FTWD has done so far has really seperated it from the same plot points TWD keeps rolling over and over again.

So according to the showrunner:

Daniel is not dead...but the characters need to believe he is for Ophelia's growth. He won't be in the back half of the season at all but they "hope to find a place for him in season three.

What. The. ****. So they "kill off" one of the most interesting characters in order to develop the LEAST interesting character? Beyond that, the writers immediately undo any sense of suspense or uncertainty through an interview, yet they are still leaving him out of the back half of the season...what the hell? This show is a mess. I mean, I suppose the reason that they revealed his alive is to avoid a Glenn-type of situation. But still, there is an easier solution: don't do bull **** fakeout deaths. It is a cheap and lazy story telling tactic. A competent writer would be able to develop Ophelia naturally rather than relying on such a lazy technique.

Like I said, FTWD has learned NOTHING from the mistakes TWD has made, except maybe that and even then they go and mess it up in an entirely new way.

So instead of learning how not to piss off the fans they discovered a new way to do it and still fail to understand why people were so angry with the season finale.

There were maybe a few too many people going crazy in the season finale but otherwise I liked it. I'm glad to hear that [BLACKOUT]Daniel is still alive because he's one of my favorite characters.[/BLACKOUT] Madison locking Celia in with the walkers was incredible. I don't know what her plan was but it was incredible. It's sorta neat how everyone seems to like Strand now when they were so suspicious of him before.

I still like FTWD but feel they don't have those Characters that literally feel like they've come out of a comic book (which I think works well).
I like Strand, Daniel, Madison and her son but the rest meh. More people need to die, this is walking dead after all.

Finally got caught up on FTWD. Some thoughts:

The last little bit of this season's first half felt extremely disjointed to me. Everything from Nick suddenly showing up bloody with a zombie Louis (I think his name was) to Daniel dropping a lighter and the whole compound being up in flames. I don't feel that Chris' going nuts was handled properly or was believable in the slightest. Yes, I could see him going that direction, but to suddenly just go that route after killing that annoying kid was just forced.

That said, I'm still enjoying the show. Unlike most here, I actually like Chris a lot. I've seen signs of a hero complex in him, which I like, and am hoping that Travis will find a way to get through to him to help that side of him become dominant. I like that the show left the two of them together to open that possibility. I think Chris could be a very multi-layered character. I just hope the show lets him live long enough to realize that.

I'm growing to like Travis more with each episode. He bored me in the first season, but as a father, I'm becoming more of like mind with him.

Madison is okay. I don't like or dislike her. If she continues to grow... great... if she dies... oh well. I'm not overly concerned about her one way or another.

Nick is the best character on the show. I love the idea of how his former life defines his modern life in the modern world. I find that I'm the most interested in where his story goes in the zombie apocalypse.

Alicia's one of those characters that's there and that I'd be sad if she died, but I don't necessarily see a future for her in the show. I honestly feel that her role is to be the daughter/sister. I felt that her core story line moving forward could be to become the love interest for Chris and have the two of them build each other up for this new world. I like her, but I have no invested interest in her. I'll be surprised if she makes it through this season. I feel that her death would propel quite a few characters.

Daniel is fantastic. He was my favorite character of season one but has been laying low in season 2. I felt his going nuts at the tail end of this first half of season 2 came out of nowhere. I guess that should all be remedied by now but hate how the story played out. He randomly burned the compound, endangering his own daughter and others and smiled about it. How very un-Daniel like. That was just weird for me. If he's dead, shame. If the rumor is true that he isn't... good. But they better get his character right after this because he's too good to be written crappily like that.

Ophelia has no role. She is literally a nothing character. Her only role is to be Daniel's daughter. Daniel's fate in the mid-season finale better do something to improve her, because otherwise she's just taking up screen time. I'd rather her just be killed off to push Daniel than the other way around. I'm not really feeling her connection with Nick either.

Strand is just awesome. I loved the story line with him and Scott's character (whose name I'm forgetting). I'm glad they went a route with him that wasn't exactly expected. He's fantastic.

So yeah, overall I do feel that the women of the cast need a lot more development, but the show itself still has my interest. It's no Walking Dead, but it's still enjoyable for me. Looking forward to August.

Nick did not have a good day. :(

I mean, I can appreciate more Nick back story, but the whole episode? And still with the slow burn? This was the best choice as midseason premier?

I never minded slow even with the origional show. I like getting to know people better. :)

*sigh* I'm trying but I just don't like Nick. :csad:

I'm the opposite. He's my favorite. :)

Nick has like Glen level luck though, he should be dead, he is Glucky. :)

For a moment there, I thought Nick was going to dive in on the sunglasses guys with his herd.

I didn't mind the episode being Nick centric. It offered some backstory and flashbacks. And helped us viewers have a better understanding of Nick and his fascination with the dead. We also see the struggle Nick has surviving on his own in the post zombie apocalypse. Luciana seems interesting and am curious to know more about her, but (judging from next week's clip) it seems her community isn't any different from Celia's, b/c they seem to embrace the dead as well.

Also during the flashback the young woman Nick met in rehab was the first walker he saw in the opening of the pilot episode. So we learn that Nick was responsible for why she OD'd and then turned.

So far FTWD Season 2b seems to be following the approach TWD Season 4b took with separating the main group and having bottle episodes centering around certain characters.

It wasn't very good when The Walking Dead did it, I don't have any reason to think it will be better when FTWD does it with less interesting characters.

Mind you, I don't mind the slow burn, character driven episodes. But last night's just wasn't very good. It was 75 % Nick walking through deserts. It was just dull and the backstory of him really teaches us nothing of value about him, other than possibly showing a motive between his morbid fascination. But considering that the angle came out of no where toward the end of 2A, its hard to really invest in that.

Not a bad episode but a poor way to start the new half-season. Maybe the showrunners wanted to get the dullest episode out of the way first so that the rest of the season could be a rollercoaster ride.

I'm still irritated about Daniel. I hope we get some good news about him soon :cmad:

Well that was worth it, Nick. Dumbass.

I know a lot of people like Nick but come on! He's not very likable and it's hard to feel sorry for him. I mean, it REALLLLLLY is!

I'm assuming Ophelia is with other (unknown) survivors in the hotel.

Strand shouldn't have been surprised that the Abigail was stolen from them. They held off two days after Celia's compound burned. Instead of boarding or securing their ride off Mexico they stayed searching for Travis, Chris, and Nick, which lead to a dead end anyway. Of course survivors or plunderers would take off with it.

The pharmacist/local doctor is obviously a false prophet. There's no way he was bit near his neck by a walker and survived b/c we know in TWD that nobody is immune from the infection. Unless a victim was bit on a part of their body that could be immediately amputated e.g. arm and leg. And now Nick is being brainwashed into his sheep, unfortunately.

So while Alicia and Ophelia are scavenging for food, supplies, etc. Madison and Strand decide to decompress and get drunk. I was surprised to see Strand act so careless at the bar. I know he was drunk but he was pretty much responsible why the bar got overrun. He unknowingly led them to the bar by causing a ruckus on that piano. And Madison breaking drinkware for good measure. I thought Strand was the level headed one.

FTWD seem to have some inconsistencies with how the walker camouflage technique works. On TWD characters had to cover themselves in walker blood and guts in order to mask their scent from them. For the past couple episodes all Nick does is cover himself with blood and strolls through the dead undetected. However last night's episode he and Luciana were barely covered with walker blood when they went out for supplies and water. Since FTWD takes place in the same universe as TWD (then during TWD ep. 6.9 "No Way Out") that would mean Rick and co. could've made it through that walker herd in the ASZ without putting much of a fight. Since everybody was somewhat covered in blood from the zombie slaying. If it doesn't take much to disguise your scent (on FTWD) then the characters should be able to get out of herds undetected easily from now on. I also notice the camouflage doesn't seem to wear off at all on this show unless they clean themselves of it.

Overall not a bad episode. I've been enjoying season 2 so far.

It's a little too close to 9/11 for zombies to be falling off buildings. There, somebody had to say it.
