I am really liking the fresh zomie make up.

Also, it will be great watching society collapse.

Yes that's what I am excited to see most. Seeing society collapse and all the hysteria that will ensue. Reminds me of the prologue in The Last of Us. Really great stuff seeing things like that play out.

I liked the score and some of the build up. It was ok and should be fun to watch society collapse around them. Make up effects are great per usual.

I guess I thought Walking Dead 2.0 might be boring or redundant but this didn't feel that way at all probably because it did start from the very beginning. I was afraid it might be boring but it wasn't at all. :)

Agreed. The start of a zombie apocalypse is always my favorite part because, to me, it's the creepiest. The slow collapse at first, the warning signs that something's wrong, the little unreal things that happen in the backgrounds of everyone's lives becoming more and more apparent to people until it finally hits the fan and the great panic breaks out.

I can't wait to see where this show goes from here.

Exactly.

Episode 1 "Pilot" was much slower than I anticipated with lots of family drama setup. I thought the opening and the ending were good though and will give the next couple episodes a chance.

Yup. We get to watch the start of the chaos.

Just starting to watch now. Love the beginning so far with the guy waking up and seeing his friend eating peeps.

Pretty much this.

I couldn't shake the feeling that it was an un-aired pilot episode to a show that I've now watched 5 seasons of...and in between the pilot and the show getting green-lit they changed all of the actors/characters on the show. Knowing what is coming didn't heighten the drama for me...it just meant that I had to spend 90 minutes with a family I didn't know as they slowly get clued into what I already know. I ended up not really liking/caring about the family.

Eh first episode was alright, I suppose.

I thought it was great. The pace was fine to me. The producers said to expect a slow burn. But that 90 minutes flew by. Using the family dynamic was smart. The apocalypse will end up bringing them closer. Frank (Nick) was amazing and really convincing as an addict. The outbreak starting in the hospital was a nice callback to the original series. I also liked the foreshadowing in the classroom scene. The promo for the season looks amazing. I'm all in.

I thought it was pretty good, slow burn. Though I'm ready for the pace to pick up a bit. If we aren't getting an explanation of the "virus" or what ever it is, I say move it right along

So how did the people who were able to see it like it? I am really eager to watch this since I love walking dead

Just noticed on the encore when the parents go to the hospital to find out where their son went (yes, I know he's more of a stepfather), but right when they arrive at the nurses station, a gurney piled with bloody towels is rushed by.

I love those red flag moments!

Nice catch! It's cool to go back on notice those details.

I liked it. It's definitely a slow burn but given the premise it has to be. This show is going to be great to binge, especially since it's only 6 episodes.

I liked the pilot. It's a slow burn for sure but the characters are all pretty good and, in contrast to the original show, we're getting a good look at who these people are before the zombie apocalypse. Looking forward to next week.

Enjoyed the pilot. I liked the family particularly the sort of step-dad and the junkie son. The end was crazy.

I really liked it. I've seen people complain about the pace, but I'm all for the slow burn of the apocalypse at this stage. Escalated just fine for Episode 1 since it's the very beginning. I think Shane told Rick everything fell in about 2 weeks.

I'm hooked. Can't wait for next's episode written by Marco Ramirez (Daredevil showrunner).

I take it there implying the cause is the flu shot

I didn't even think the burn was that slow, tbh. I thought the whole thing worked quite well. That whole episode, you could just feel the tension building and creeping up on you. When Kim Dickens walked into the Principal's office and he didn't immediately respond to her, I legit thought he had turned.

It's funny that, since the first picture of the cast got released, I was wondering what the **** was with Nick's clothes.

It all makes sense now.

I was surprised at how much I was into this. I thought it could easily just be an empty cash-in but it actually has some real resonance to it. And terror, which Walking Dead has rarely had for me. We have of course seen this story before but it's always interesting to see how things fall apart; the ending rather than the end.
