Seriously, another case of the military characters being cartoonishly bad guys. I have a friend who's already telling me that while, sure, there are some jerks he had when he was in the military, most of them would have been pushing to get help for the people there and to get back out there and find more survivors that needed them, especially if things were this bad.

It would just be nice for once to see people like that represented. Hopefully the ones in the show don't start becoming abusive and rapey already by the end of the episode.
In a zombie apocalypse there are so many ways to create tension. Making the military bad guys is just a lazy and really unfair way to create conflict. Hopefully they won't all be that way. Show me some heroes

Agreed 110%

I honestly don't think the military would be acting this way SO quickly. Sure, they'd act stern and intense to create order/to calm people down, but they wouldn't be acting like freaking Snidely Whiplash.

Now, if these characters were in the original Walking Dead series (after a couple of years have passed since the apocalypse started), that would be a different case. I can see military personnel becoming that way after they've survived for so long, as everyone's moralities have been compromised.

Exactly. Granted, there are a lot of bad guys there in real life too, and this situation would probably bring them out even more, but there are a lot of really good guys, too. It would be nice to see at least a couple of them once in a while.

Really, going for blaming the ex-wife.

So much for the one house trying to signal someone...

Yeah, this was a really bad episode.

I think I'm emotionally checked out of this show. Wake me up when it's October ...

Episode 4 "Not Fade Away" Great song to open the episode. Interesting seeing the military quarantine set up and funny their leader was such a massive jerk. The pacing in this was much slower than the previous episode unfortunately. It was pretty cool seeing Maddie escape the safe zone in an attempt to investigate the flashing light in Chris' video though. Kind of funny seeing her slap around her junky son as well. I thought they did a good job establishing the military shouldn't be trusted. With only two episodes left I'm curious what's next.

I'm right there with you. We're four episodes in and I can't stand the entire family. This episode only increased my dislike and indifference towards all of them. The only character that could possibly save this show is Tobias.

whole hour and no zombies??

This was a weak episode. But I liked the others.

But man, is this family hard to care for. I thought maybe tobias was the one flashing the light

Agreed. My gawd man! I didn't think I could hate them more than I did but yet I'm here.

I hope not. I want him to show up again, every group needs a Tobias to round them out. :)

Was a waste of an episode. Really disappointing and could care less about most of the family. The military is playing by-the-book evil and there were no zombies. Nothing happened in this episode that could not have been sprinkled into an episode where they were actually doing something.

All we got was more reinforcement that these are some screwed up and useless people who had they been in The Walking Dead would likely already have been zombie chow.

The military isn't going to be like Andy Griffith if there's martial law with society crumbling.

Anyone who thinks so is deluded.

I could've sworn the mom figured out the Morris code but evidently she didn't.

I think the US military would dissolve pretty quickly in this sort of scenario. What is a soldier without a nation? A few weeks into a zombie apocalypse there is no America anymore.

If martial law were to ever take effect, I'm totally not expecting Andy Griffith (never said anything remotely close to that). It's going to be a rough time ... But I'm also not expecting Snidely Whiplash either.

The whole thing came across as ridiculous and downright stupid. It's also lazy and uninspired writing to me.

I thought this episode really stunk. I hated it.

The US military is ill equipped to enforce martial law. I actually could see it go rather horribly wrong rather quickly.

The first thing that comes to mind is the Boston lockdown. A gross overreaction, and a bunch of trigger happy cops.

Wtf is going on. Why is this ***** clipping the fence and wandering around on the outside. All because the kid saw someone signaling for help. Wtf does she care? She has to wander out into the restricted zone her own to do what. I hate this family.

Jesus what a whiny ass thread. :o

I thought the episode was pretty sweet. No zombies, but I was fine with it, I think this is pretty reasonable. We're watching it already knowing the outcome, so practically everything could be seen as a stupid move or dumb way to react. These characters are what? 10ish days in, 9 of which they have been pretty much sheltered from all the craziness that is going on outside the fences. They don't have a herd at the fences 24/7 trying to break in, almost none of them have had to physically fight and take out a walker hand to hand. 2 more episodes left, and I think all this set up is gonna have a nice payoff. I also hope Daniel makes it out of this season, he is smart and will be good to have around.

Sad to see Madison have to go ham on Nick and then have to watch him get taken away.

Is this show any good? I wanna check it out and I don't wanna waste my time.
