The word "Fear" had to be the most repeated word in Batman Begins. So what do you think will be the next word that will be most repeated ? Probably just simply

"Batman" & or "Joker"

Actually Fear was one of the main psychological aspects in the movie.

I'm pretty sure I heard the word "the" just as much as "Fear"

"Fear" was a theme for Begins so I expect a theme of TDK but I don't know what.

Maybe for the sequel duality could be the most explored theme, refering to bruce's obsession with his "other" and his descent into a certain madness.

I suspect from the ending of Batman Begins that it will have something to do with having and/or losing faith in Gotham City, the Police Department, and Batman.

Basically, people may not know whether or not to believe in Batman or resent him for the maniacs (Joker) that are popping up.

That could be great for TDK but "duality" would be better for Batman 3 when Dent becomes Two-Face.

WEll yes but maybe it can apply to both batman and two face. I mean we already know about TF's duality and no doubt it will be great, however we have never seen batman's obsession portrayed onscreen to the extreme as it should be at some point, his confussion about not knowing if batman does more wrong than good to gotham, as he could at some point start to blame himself for the joker and even harvey's transformation if you know what I mean.

Yeah, I totally agree that duality would be a perfect theme, and I think it's best suited for the third installment. The obvious duality concerned with Batman/Bruce Wayne, Harvey Dent/Two-Face, and perhaps a deeper struggle within both...

...The Nolan/Bale interpretation of Batman, for example, is that of a creature of the night that is meant to strike fear into the darker corners of Gotham City. How must the Batman appear as a hero to the good people of Gotham while still placing fear into the hearts of criminals? Wouldn't his heroics make him seem somewhat "soft" to the crime community? It seems that Batman would have to overcompensate with ruthlessness so not to tarnish his image. After all, Batman is just as much of a hero as he is a vigilante, and yet the two things seem to contradict one another. Seeing as the Gotham public is well aware of the Batman at this point in continuity, it seems like an obvious direction that the character could be taken into during the next two films.

Perhaps they already thought of this? And the reason for calling the film "The Dark Knight" is a hint that Batman will indeed become more dark, more monstrous, and more frightening?

My friends and I once used Batman Begins as a drinking game.

Every time a character says "Fear," take a shot.

Don't remember how that night ended .

Duality should be the third movie, featuring Harleen becoming Harley, Harvey becoming Two-Face, Bruce losing to Batman and Selina Kyle.

Duality or taking it to a more primal word compassion, empathy.
Which I think would be perfect.
It will be something he has to fight to master just like fear was.
He will get lost in this monster of his and will have to remember why he is Batman in the first place....compassion.

"Trust" could be a cool theme.

Gordon needs to trust Batman.
Dent needs to trust Batman.
Gotham needs to trust Batman.

And hopefully, by the end of the film, Batman gains that trust.

Definately insanity and obsessiveness, he has to come close to losing it with the escalation he's caused. Then $G-mOnEy$s suggestions for 3

Escalation - THE DARK KNIGHT
Duality - BATMAN 3

This is a good question.

Yeah you're right, but it was totally unneccessary to continually reference it in the script, if the theme of fear was represented properly in the story itself there shouldn't have been any need to bash us over the head with psuedo-psychological speeches from neeson etc. I just hope they don't pick another "buzzword" in the sequel and run with that for two hours.

Exactly. And its importance and relevance was such that any writer should have known repeating the word 100 times was totally unnecessary and too damn obvious. It just made it feel like cheap/amateurish writing.

Fear is a motif, not a theme.

Fear Fear Fear Fear Fear Fear

I felt like I was watching daredevil. Actually that movie had less use of fear in the dialogue.

Well whatever it is, don't use it in practically ever scene again.
