That shockwave was much more impressive than the one in Age of Ultron when Hulk and Hulkbuster Iron Man clashed punches.

And it was all coming from Thor's blow, right into Hulk's face. :hmr:
Another blow and Thor would have ended the fight.

Yep it was all from Thor's punch and not a combination of two punches colliding.

I guess it's safe to say the shockwave Thor made when slamming Mjolnir into Malekith was his own power and not the hammers.

It was much bigger!

Yeah, I don't think would be able to handle another powerful attack. It would be too much for him.

I seriously doubt it. Thor might well have won eventually, but when I rewatched the film, it was obvious that Hulk had quickly shrugged off the effects of the lightning punch. The fight was a long way from over, but Space Goldblum didn't want to take a chance that his golden goose was going to take an L.

Quote for truth.

Seriously it's so irritating that people somehow read Hulk shaking off some pain and then quickly being ready to fight again as: "SEE ITS PROOF HE WAS ON DEATH'S DOOR" or whatever.

Like yes, Thor had a serious advantage and would have ultimately won the fight after *many* tremendous blows that Hulk just has no way to counter, but those particular two blows that we saw didn't even give Hulk as much as a nosebleed and he was showing no fatigue or injury. But you want to believe that a third one would suddenly shower the arena in green blood just because it's a third one when the first two didn't even come close. Come on, get real.

The point at which Grandmaster basically ended the fight with a cheat was Waititi's way of keeping the debate going with no clear winner. The two could potentially go at it for hours before one even draws close to a KO, but for the sake of brevity and pacing, we only see Hulk take two big blows that show his disadvantage but still showcase he's tanky as all hell, while Thor also can technically tank everything Hulk could possibly throw at him and has an extreme offensive edge, but gets done dirty for plot reasons.

Neither really won the fight. Thor's advantage wasn't an immediate death sentence for Hulk and the fight STILL could have gone on and on and on (ie. it's foolish to predetermine Thor as the victor at that moment), and Hulk's victory was completely rigged so it doesn't actually count.

For 5 years I've been hearing how Thor was 100% done for after that wimpy ass body slam at the end of his fight with Hulk in The Avengers. Even though, he immediately got up and ran to Loki's cage as soon as Hulk jumped on that jet.

Now the shoe is on the other foot and it doesn't feel so good huh?

Haha I'm sorry man, if it helps I wasn't one of those people dissing Thor. He got thrown around yes but only a maniac would believe Thor was even remotely close to being KO'd in the Helicarrier fight.

But both claims are stupid and detached from the reality of what we saw on screen. This shoe is cursed and unfairly brings down whichever foot it's on (am I doing this analogy right?) We need to throw this shoe in the trash instead of putting it on other people and then laughing at them. Let's not perpetuate a cycle of untrue ********.

Both characters are tanky af, and neither really earnestly were about to KO each other in either of their cinematic fights (again, Hulk's arena victory was a hack so it doesn't count). There's the on-screen facts.

Well said...it's short sighted on either the Avengers or Ragnarok front to say that the fights were completely "winner" determined.

Good job on the analogies and I agree

As a huge Superman fan i must say that I'm incredibly jealous of Thor's end of movie lightning/power/fighting/badassery display. I thought it was incredibly done both visually on screen and in showing just how powerful he is. I'm envious. I was hoping for a Superman scene like this in JL and while him vs the rest of the JL was ok I guess it didn't compare to the Ragnarok scene IMO.

What about Superman beating the crap out of Steppenwolf?

Hey Big Thor. Look at those above shots of Thor lit up using lightning Zeppelin playing and absolutely annihilating his opponents. It's unbelievable to me how BADASS that scene is and how powerful Thor is shown to be.

I was extremely disappointed with Superman showing up and saying "I believe in truth....and justice." And then after rejoining the team flying back in only to say "is this guy still bothering you?". Listen while he dispatched SW with ease it wasn't a grand glorious come back from the dead moment for me. I was kinda hoping for alot more. I mean Thor single-handedly took out what....20-50 guys? And the massive shot of lightning have used on his sister to start. Just impressively done.

You've got a good point bro.

The difference is kind of enlightening, since one guy gets the unstoppable-solve-all-problems-easily power display, and the other guy. . . is the one whose actually impressive. Which goes to show that "just win the fight" is not the best way to show a character as powerful and glorious.

BigThor and Jadejaws, I'm impressed you guys managed to have a disagreement that ended with civility. You don't see that often enough on these forums or the internet in general.

As a long time fan of both superheroes, I still have some Marvel comics from the 60s through to the 90s, of which Thor and the Hulk remained 2 of my favourite characters. I remember as a kid wondering which one was the strongest.

That said, Thor has more than pure strength at his disposal with the lightening etc, and probably other skills considering he is a god and Odinson.

However in pure strength terms, The Hulk has a seemingly unparalleled ability to absorb punishment and energy which in turn can make him stronger. But I'll just leave this excerpt from the wiki on the Hulk's strength here:

The cosmically-powerful entity known as the Beyonder once analyzed the Hulk's physiology, and claimed that the Hulk's potential strength had "no finite element inside."[103] Hulk's strength has been depicted as sometimes limited by Banner's subconscious influence; when Jean Grey psionically "shut Banner off", Hulk became strong enough to overpower and destroy the physical form of the villain Onslaught.[104] Writer Greg Pak described the Worldbreaker Hulk shown during World War Hulk as having a level of physical power where "Hulk was stronger than any mortal—and most immortals—who ever walked the Earth",[105] and depicted the character as powerful enough to completely destroy entire planets.[106][107] His strength allows him to leap into lower Earth orbit or across continents,[108][109] and he has displayed superhuman speed.[110][111] Exposure to radiation has also been shown to make the Hulk stronger.[103] His durability, regeneration, and endurance also increase in proportion to his temper.[112] Hulk is resistant to injury or damage, though the degree to which varies between interpretations, but he has withstood the equivalent of solar temperatures,[113][114] nuclear explosions,[110][115][116][117] and planet-shattering impacts.[106][107][118][119][120] Despite his remarkable resiliency, continuous barrages of high-caliber gunfire can hinder his movement to some degree while he can be temporarily subdued with intense attacks with chemical weapons such as anesthetic gases, although any interruption of such dosages will allow him to quickly recover.[121] He has been shown to have both regenerative and adaptive healing abilities, including growing tissues to allow him to breathe underwater,[122] surviving unprotected in space for extended periods,[123] and when injured, healing from most wounds within seconds, including, on one occasion, the complete destruction of most of his body mass.

Oh yeah, Hulk is physically stronger no doubt.

The fact is those two are huge powerhouses that bring different things to the table.

Indeed.

I was very impressed with the amazing big heroic moments in this film and how well they were done, especially with the graphics/effects and soundtrack. They did convey the heroism of the moments almost perfectly which is seldom done. I hope they can keep this up or even build on it for Infinity War and future Marvel Comic movies.

So now that we have seen Thor go up against Hulk with his newly unleashed God powers, how well would he do against the Hulkbuster armor in your guys's opinions?
