Feats & Power Displays in Thor: Ragnarok

Thor's power displays look as good as any superhero powers I can ever remember. He might even be no.1 from some of these Ragnarok scenes.

So now that we have seen Thor go up against Hulk with his newly unleashed God powers, how well would he do against the Hulkbuster armor in your guys's opinions?

Not only Thor is too powerful; Hulkbuster is designed to fight the Hulk, and it wouldn't be that effective against someone who has immense energy projection powers, imo.

Here's my thoughts...
I think Thor takes this. The armor is the Hulkbuster and not a Thorbuster one. And even though it showed to be a really tough armor with a ton of strength, power... and a good back up plan in "Veronica", it wasn't made to deal with Thor as a threat. Thor has a very different fighting style, set of skills, power moves...

It would definitely be a though fight. Thor would struggle at points with the sheer strength of the machine but in the end and taking into account what we have seen in Ragnarok where Thor got a boost in terms of power, he at some point would have made irreparable damage to the suit of armor and gotten through to Tony putting an end to the fight.

And like someone mentioned in that thread, if the Immigrant Song plays during the fight then it's over quick. :woot:

Let's also remember the Hulk in Ragnarok is more powerful and A LOT more skilled than the Hulk that Hulkuster Iron Man fought.

He's been Hulk for 2 years straight and he trains with Valkyrie everyday as the Grandmasters favorite champion.

Thanks for your input guys.

Though one thing that I had forgotten to take into consideration was how Thor's powers seem to have a negative side effect when used against Iron Man's armor.

Wouldn't Thor using his newly discovered God powers just make Iron Man's armor, let alone his hulkbuster armor, that much stronger like it did in their first fight in the forest?

Well it's true than in the Avengers one lightening blast from mjolnir made the Iron Man suit power up to "475%" which in turn was used to blast Thor with him shrugging it off with ease. Then Thor was totally overpowering (strenght wise) the suit by crushing it with his bare hands and denting it with a headbutt. Thor also displayed his fighting prowess by avoiding Iron Man hits and landing body shots of his own, not to mention that he was lifting the armour like it was nothing...

Mjolnir hits to Iron Man suit where knocking him hard and far away. Another important thing at that time was the reliance on mjolnir to land those really heavy hits. Still Avengers Thor was basically having a training session with Iron Man. I don't think there is much doubt that fight would end in only one way. The thing is, Thor was already an incredibly powerful character but in Ragnarok the boost to his power level was clear with him being able to control and focus his abilities without needing a weapon and greatly increasing the damage of his hits.

Now the Hulkbuster was made to fight the Hulk which is a specific type of threat. As seen in Ragnarok Thor is much more of a skilled fighter, more intelligent and is also faster than the Hulk. Insane durability... Thor can also land equally heavy hits, hits powered up with lighting. The powered up with lighting heavy hits are still physical hits and not blasts. Those the Hulkbuster would have to contend with. Thor just needs to focus on a piece of the armor and tear it apart reaching Tony.

And are we sure that the massive lighting blast that Hela tanked would also be tanked by the Hulkbuster without any problem? I seriously doubt it. Thor being able to summon lighting would most likely also use it to fry "Veronica" out of the sky taking away any replacement parts...

That lightning blast Thor used on Iron Man in Avengers 1 was weak sauce compared to the lightning from Ragnarok.

In Ragnarok his lightning was straight up disintegrating undead Asgardians into dust.

Yeah, and the lightning on Iron Man also damaged his armor: he was surprised, of course, about how much energy it absorbed.

A huge lightning bolt, on the other hand, would be partially absorbed too. However, the damage it would cause to the armor and to Tony would be fatal.

I still can't believe Thor body slammed Hulk in that arena battle, never thought I'd see that on the big screen.

Like I've said in other threads, don't forget that Thor has *other* ranged/area attack options besides just lightning bolts. Like wind, and explosive shockwaves.

Currently watching the WEB-DL, and I noticed that Thor has some limited TK/EM control during the Rainbow Bridge fight when he zapped one of the undead and pulled it into him.

Awesome gifs, thanks HD. :drl:

I was a bit disappointed in Hela's powers.

I wasn't disappointed in the level of her power, she was crazy powerful and if anything OP compared to the comics, but I was disappointed with the range of her powers. The weapon creation looked cool and I liked it, but where are some of comics!Hela's classic abilities? Her touch of death? Her illusion powers? Her ability to raise the dead without having to use the Eternal Flame? Teleportation was implied but never shown, unless you count her first scene. I do feel like more could have been done with that aspect. :csad:

yeah, that was my point.

they didn't give her cool powers that she has in the comics just to make it more grounded.

she didn't really feel like Goddess of Death.

she certainly is OP but only sword creation??? really???

it's like making Thor shooting lovely hearts and flowers instead of lightning.

I hope we can have a similar thread for Thor’s feats and power displays after IW and Avengers 4 with plenty of new material.

What I'm really curious about is how they'll treat Thor in IW and A4.
We've seen that he'll be getting a new weapon, his axe / hammer / ultimate Mjolnir.
Now that we got to see Thor fighting hand to hand in Ragnarok, I'm really excited how his combat style is going to evolve in the next two Avengers films.
I loved that we saw how powerful Thor really is. But I'm happy that he's getting a new weapon. A combination of his hammer-less fighting style from Ragnarok with some great moments of him using ultimate Mjolnir would be awesome. But I am sure that we won't be disappointed.

great opening honestly can we say Thor 3 had the best opening for any hero in this modern age of Comic book movies

I say yes

Infinity War has it work cut out but according to reports the opening of that movie will show how powerful Thanos is so can't wait

hope it sets the stage for Thor to come in the 3rd act to tip the balance to the Avengers

Damn! I just love this opening. Indeed, it's the greatest. From the music to the flight scene with the dragon, I can't choose a favorite moment.

Btw, the gif with Thor opening the dragon's mouth is awesome!

The opening is so cool. The setting, Muspelheim, Surtur, fire demons, a “jet” fire powered massive dragon, Immigrant Song... :D
