Feats & Power Displays in Thor: Ragnarok

Let's not forget that the Quinjet proved to have space travel capabilities.

I just loved seeing Thor get a huge power display like that. I almost wonder if someone lik Tony will have a smartass remark for him later on? He decimates something with lightening - "Hey Thor, where was that when xxx"

Then Rhodey should say "The same place those one off lasers you used on the hammer drones have been for the last 7 years".

oh, man, I didn't even notice that last annihilation in the theater!

I guess I'll just have to go for viewing #4...

I like how he also just has this lightning aura around him that acts like a shield of sorts by staggering any would be backstabbers with almost reflexive bursts of electricity (like if the Arkham series automatically pressed the Counter button for you). It seems Asgardian blades can indeed pierce him despite his durability so a defensive measure of sorts is a good upgrade. They can't even touch him with all that lightning flying around.

I don't remember both his eyes blazing in the Theatre during these scenes...
Not to get into spoiler territory but you know what I mean..

Well, yes. They obviously did two versions of the effects shots for those scenes, so they could promote the movie without spoiling. Seems kind of a no-brainer to me.

It was forcefully drawn thru the portal. There's no way those things were purposely built for space flight.

Well he is Asgardian, why wouldn't Asgardian blades be able to pierce him? But think about this, Hela one shot KILLS every other Asgardian with her blades, while Thor took atleast 10 plus blades from Hela and was nowhere near death.

So far they've been able to pierce every other Asgardians including Hela, which makes sense because they're made by Asgardians.

The portal opened on earths atmosphere? Sure?

Hummmmmmmmm... oh well, another reason to re-watch the film!

Hela doesn't *quite* one-shot kill everyone. . . but generally, if she's trying, they dead. The few times someone didn't immediately die, either she was obviously trying to prolong it, or it was one person amongst many in a mass fight. When she actually *intends* to kill someone flat dead, they die if they get hit.

Hela on shot everyone with her blades except Volstagg (2 shots) and Thor. She one shot, Fandral, Hogun (with blade), Skurge, and all those Asgardian soliders.

Just watched the Superman Zod fight in man of steel and even moreso the Smallville fight between Supes Faiora and the big dude. I wish marvel would do their fights like those where you really got the sense of how powerful these beings are.

Hulkbuster Iron Man vs Hulk was just like those fights.

The only reason Thor vs Hulk wasn't because it was in arena and not in the middle of a city.

Marvel heroes try keep the fights as far from people as possible. Thank God for that.

I know I'm not imagining things but I just watched Ragnarok again and it looks like Thor actually slammed Hulk in the arena fight.

When Thor was hanging on Hulk's back you see his legs clamp down and he grunts and lifts his body before Hulk comes off the ground. Also when they landed Hulk was more effected by the slam and stayed on the ground while Thor got up.

One thing that differentiates T:R from other Marvel films is that Thor openly admits and accepts that he can't take Hela 1-on-1. At the end of the film, he was focused on getting the Asgardians to safety rather than continually trying to be the person who stops the villain. That showed just how much Thor had developed as a character from this first movie to T:R. He showed the kind of strength of character of which Odin would have been proud. It also established Hela as having power on another level than past MCU baddies.

I loved those shots of Thor spinning his hammer like the one above, and twirling it around himself taking out all those enemies.

I always thought of that as a signature move of his, but can't recall seeing it very often. He kind of does it in Thor 1, which I had forgotten but watched that movie again the other day. Though in that scene he's using the hammer on the ground below him, tossing chunks of rock at the Frost Giants.

Absolutely. It was like something out of a classic DeFalco/Frenz comic.

He also was knocking Frost Giants away while spinining the hammer before ripping up the ground with it.
