🇺🇸 Fell Out of a Coconut Tree, It's Kamalot: The Kamala Harris Thread

US News
Hang up. No one’s defending Epstein. Guy was a total monster, and there was ample evidence that he did some awful, perverse things. But the claim that visiting a location with him is enough evidence that Bill abused people is really a prime example in poor critical thinking. I don’t know if Bill did anything wrong. What I do know is that we don’t have enough information to conclude he did.

And why does Bill deserve the benefit of the doubt, due to ALL that we know about him.

In Hawaii like in some other deep blue areas in the U.S., if you're a conservative and want to have the best chance at a win you pretty much have to run as a Democrat even if you're a secret conservative.

Oh you thought Biden stepping aside would rid you of having to read articles about this person?
U.S. Rep. Dean Phillips, meanwhile, calls for an “open nominating process” to select the Democrat who will run against Donald Trump.

The word secret is doing a lot of work here. :o

I've already seen comments about if Harris wins what monstrosity will come out of the MAGA cesspool in retaliation. Trump was a product of Obama winning the presidency and now we may get something else or worse.

Trump didn’t bring a new side to America that wasn’t there before. He’s the symptom, not the cause.

I know we’re both LGBTQIA+. It would be akin to saying that Pete becoming President somehow made people more homophobic when in reality all it did was take the false mask off of those who were homophobic anonymously online and behind people’s backs.

There weren’t suddenly more bigots, just that bigots no longer felt like they needed to hide behind a username online.

Every group of bigots that people “learned” were there - I’ve never known a world where they didn’t exist in mass. If anything the major thing that changed was that non-minorities finally witnessed the part of America they wanted to ignore.

I went ahead and read this article from Vox.

He would have stirred up the same number of racists in 2008 as well. He’s the symptom, not the cause. Getting rid of Trump isn’t going to get rid of “Trumpism” - “Trumpism” was here long before Trump and unfortunately it will be around long after as well.

The country didn’t fundamentally changed. Simply white people in their naivety thought racism was a thing of the past and further deluded themselves into believing that when a Black man became President.

Ask any person of color - the number of racists who lined up behind Trump wasn’t surprising at all. If anything was surprising, it was that the non-minority left finally stopped deluding themselves into believing that racism was over.

The reactions on the left to the 2016 election night was very different for people depending on whether or not they’re a minority.

To state the obvious - racists were already racist before Obama. Obama didn’t make racists racist. That’s just what some white people on the left trying to blame a Black man said without realizing they’re displaying signs of racism themselves (blaming the actions of white people on a black person).

Well, he has to debate the nominee. Who that will be is an open question.
