🇺🇸 Fell Out of a Coconut Tree, It's Kamalot: The Kamala Harris Thread

US News

There was a Hillary one, but it might as well just say "GIRL".

I believe Kamala identifies as a black woman, like Barrack identifies as a black man. She totally recognizes her south Asian heritage as well.
I think that is in part as a response to erasing the identity of people who are more than one race forcing you to choose one or the other. Similar to the logic that bisexuals don't really exist, only with your heritage in this case.

Vance isn’t good at this. At least Trump grabbed onto something with some basis in reality like someone being old/fat/disabled and went ridiculously nuclear with it. JD is making up insults that don’t apply at all. The only part left is pure racism/sexism which doesn’t win any votes that aren’t already won and makes it harder for independents to go through with their vote.
I'm hoping Vance's obvious bigotry and meaness pulls votes away from Trump. He doesn't deserve to be VP.

I think the positive thing is that he isn’t adding as many extra votes from independents/neutrals as someone like Nikki Haley might have done. I’d be a lot more nervous if Trump had gone for someone like that. And also this means the Dems can benefit more if they pick a running mate that complements Kamala well and is stronger in areas that she’s weak.

Sounds good to me!

It's not really that insidious.

It just makes sense to identify with how the world views you. So you can easily assimilate into that culture and navigate racial issues easier.

When people see Obama and Kamala they generally see black people.

Biracial people who "pass" for white often embrace being white.
