FF2 will look rather basic compared to Spidey 3

Is this thread a joke?
FF2 looks action packed and fast-paced, SM3 had maybe three action scenes, all spaced apart with boring filler. I mean, good lord, even the wedding looks action packed.

Hahahahh Malus.

You do know that the Thing cried in a scene at the wedding right?

And there is a scene where Johnny took the Thing and Reed to a night club just before the wedding.

They dance at nightclubs.

Johnny I can see. Ben, for laughs (or pathos).
I'm certain nothing dance-related will approach the horror of SM3.:cwink:

And y'know Ben cries quite often it seems:

I just don't think we'll ever see him tearing up while facing down Annihilus, as they (sniff) forgive....
(And you know I seriously doubt he's forgiven him for nearly killing Alicia a while back.)

SM3 sucked, but i dont really thing this movie is gonna be any better. Especially if it is as short as predicted. To have the surfer, dr. doom, and galactus and have a runtime of 90 minutes(if true) is extremely sad, showing that the writers basically suck at creating a story. The only reason ill see this movie is becuz the surfer looks so cool.

Then again my expectations for SM3 was very high so i was extremely disappointed. This movie my expectations arent that high so im sure ill still enjoy it, but Transformers is gonna blow all of these movies out of the water.

FF2 and sm3 will both be equal to me...

although depending on how much they **** up galactus and doom...

bit of a strong opinion considering that FF2 is not out yet!

I dunno, with all the money they poured into SM3, the visual effects were pretty damn crappy.

Transformers will never blow Spidey 3's box office out of the water.

And I'll predict right now a bigger opening weekend (Fri-Sat-Sun only) for FF2 than Transformers, a larger domestic box office gross and a larger global total for FF2.
And of course Harry Potter will be bigger than Transformers.
There's just a wider cross-section of people who want to see those films.

We'll see by the end of July, I guess.

Yeah would'nt it be something to see this:

Thing: Why are you doing this?

Silver Surfer: I have no choice, my master owns me?

Thing: Boo hoo, I know exactly what you mean, Reed treats me the same way.

Silver Surfer: Big G just does not understand me, he thinks I am am like him, that the killing is like killing ants, but.. boo hoo...., hold on...., it is just more than I can bear.

Thing: Yeah, Reed, he snaps at me during battle all the time. He has no idea the fragile state of mind I have over my ugly puss.

Silver Surfer: Bwaahhhhh, why can't they see that we have feelings.

Thing: Bwaahhhhh, booohooo.

Torch: Galactus, just eat me now.. please, before I start to cry too.

Agreed. With that budget, I was expecting everything to be top-notch. IMO, they weren't. They never really seemed to get realistic Spidey's movements 100% right (besides the last scene in SM1), imho. They should do what FF's doing with SS, and get WETA or ILM to do the effects for the future films. They won't, but they should :p

The thing that I believe will "woo" me more with FF2, is that they're traveling the world, and not just staying in New York City for 3 films. I know that's Spidey's home, but it would be cool if they could take him other places (maybe in the next trilogy).

Spider-Man is New York. No reason to take him out of NYC in a movie.

An SS story, however, should not be grounded in NY. That is limiting a cosmic traveler. The FF have more reason to leave NY.

Your absolutely right.

Ok, I'm not gonna say how or where I saw the FF sequel... I will say this though. It is better than the first and imo the action scenes involving the SS are better done and more believable than anything I saw in Spidey 3. I am expecting this to be in like the 60's review wise on rottentomatoes meter. Although I thought the first FF film deserved to be wayyyyyyyyy higher than friggin 25%

IMO, no film (not even SM3) has surpassed ROTS in terms of CGI effects. That film still amazes me:)

hmmmm..... read the FF much??? :cwink:

COVER_029.jpg

Kirby never drew Ben to be as large as you think he should be. And unfortunately he has mostly come out on the losing end on his battles with the Hulk, even when he was double dosed with cosmic rays and turned into the "Pineapple Thing" (as we like to call him on another FF board) . Also notice, the ever controversial brow is not that prominent either.

I see Chiklis's Thing as being very close to Kirby's early version. Remember, as FF: ROTS begins only two years have passed since they got their powers. Kirby's take on the Thing slowly evolved over the course of the years and many artists today do draw him a bit taller. But he was not the giant you make him out to be. Part of his appeal to me is that he may not be as strong as the Hulk but he is a "never say die" fighter to the end.

Now Malus, I have yet to see S-3 but my nephew says the same things you have said. I will be going to an IMAX theater to see it at the end of the week so I will hold off on comparing too much. I think S-2 was about as best an adaptation as any superhero as you will see. The fight on the train was exceptionally well done and didn't have the bouncy, video game look that is a bit distracting with some of the other Spidey in action scenes.

The action scenes I have watched so far with the FF look very fluid. The scope of the FF film is worldwide, not just set in one city, and I look forward to seeing the extended, final cut of the major action sequences. I never thought I would say this but it could very well end up giving S-3 a run for the money at being the better superhero film.

Excellent cover but its a 1960's Ben and it has been shown many times throughout the years that he has gotten bigger, if you want I can easily counter with a 1970's, 1980's or 1990's covers where he is clearly larger than both Reed and Johnny.
As for FF2 looking basic compared to Spiderman 3 I disagree and think its apples to oranges as another poster stated even in the comic books the type of action is totally different but I expect big things from this movie and think its gonna kick all kinds of ass and I liked Spiderman 3.

I think it's going to be difficult, if not actually awkward, to compare the two films because SP3 delt with characters hurting each other, and feelings getting trampled on(not a popular theme in a comicbook/adventure movie, to be sure), and finally forgiveness (Booo!!!)

Whereas FF2 is going to be dealing with preventing an intergalatic entity from destroying the Earth byway of communication with an alien who sees the earth and its energies as a big-ass buffet table. Pretty tall order, and a seriously cool sci-fi concept to boot! I just hope Story sticks more with the original story line, and doesn't try to re-invent the FF again ! :whatever:

But then again, the film is listed as a comedy, according to Comingsoon.net, so God only knows what's going to happen!

Some people don't know when to take stuff seriously!

It's listed as THIS: Genre: Action, Comedy, Sci-Fi

Not just as a comedy.....

I love selective reading :whatever:

Well, not just selective reading, more like highlighted reading. I'm just a little annoyed that Story choose to put in so much humor in the film that it actually falls into a genre. :csad:

I'm also hoping that he gives the thing his due. In the first film, he had trouble grabbing a fire truck. In the trailer, he's seen struggling to lift a small car. I yearn for the good old days, when if he wanted to move a vehicle-

Go write a review and post it in the review thread man. Don't be cruel, we are over there waiting man.

Unless you are just snowing us.

Clearly one of several genres.
I think you're reading way more into the fact that comedy is included in that list of genres.
I mean it is second to Action.
There's ample humor to be found in the FF.
